He said that he wants something along the lines of a steel-wood hybrid, but who knows? Maybe as he's looking at the RMC Catalogue, the T-Rex might attract his attention.

Considering BPB are getting a Mack multi launch in 2018, and the fact that Tayto park is just across the sea, I think that a Mack mega lite or Mack hyper coaster would be a better fit instead of a Mack launch coaster. Then again, they are across seas, so not necessarily...

I doubt Blackpool will affect their plans much. The vast majority of their visitors come from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. And the vast majority of them will not visit Blackpool or have even heard of Construction 2018.

If Tayto want a Mack Launched Coaster they'll go for it.

On the corner of the maps the park has now written: New Attractions for 2017.

I expected there to be more than just the flume, when CuChulainn opened it was one of 8 new attractions. It will probably just be a few more flat rides and perhaps another walk through attraction the Dinosaurs and the Ice Age (real time period not the films) attractions are rather popular and I imagine cheap to make.

I expect an XL drop tower to be coming next year.

The Flume is to open in April 2017, most likely when the season starts on 7th April.

Interested to see what they are getting for 5.7 million euro.

He seemed rather secretive over the 2017 addition - even though we already know it is a log flume. Unless it is some other new attraction he is talking about. Or is it that the flume has some sort of special feature?

Interesting that he said they are looking at something else major for 2018. Has the previously announced 2019 coaster been brought forwards or is this another addition before that?

Interesting times for Tayto they certainly seem to be doing really well.

The Viking Voyage - Log Flume Announcement

Tayto Park has officially announced their new for 2017 Viking themed log flume called 'The Viking Voyage'.

No official opening date has been set for 'Viking Voyage' however Tayto Park reopens for its 7th season on 7th April. All that has been confirmed is the ride will be open this summer. Construction on the €5.7 million attraction is ongoing.

The founder of Tayto Park reckons it’s “one of a kind”. Raymond Coyle said: “We are delighted to announce our new and exciting attraction ‘The Viking Voyage' at the Park.

The water ride will be a first for the Meath attraction “We are dedicated to bringing cutting-edge attractions to Tayto Park and this particular ride is one of a kind. We are very excited to unveil it to the public in the coming months.” The flumeride will feature a whopping 1.7million litres of water.

Following previous comments that the ride would be extensively themed the announcement today confirmed the ride will be accompanied by an impressive Viking Village area which will feature five replica Viking ships and 20 life size Vikings.

Staff have been learning to use building methods from the Viking Age to create a really authentic experience, with over 10,000 tonnes of concrete and 500 tonnes of steel gone into the construction of the ride so far.

Viking Voyage - Interlink Super Flume - construction update

Tayto Park opened for the 2017 season yesterday so it gave me the chance to see the construction of the new ride. I was extremely impressed by the flume site - I did not really expect it to have so much theming.

The area comprises of a Viking Village next to a large fake mountain which the ride passes through a number of times.

Viking Voyage will feature 3 drops - one of which is backwards, and the ride will open in June!

Out next to the car park there was more thatch for roofs in the area.

The frame work for one of the replica viking ships in the area. There are two already completed long ships in place around the ride.

The entrance to the ride is in this Viking Village they are building right next to Cù Chulainn.

Some of the detailed theming items around the village area.

This corner still needs to be themed. Here the flume will go up a lifthill, go on a turntable and then go backwards down the drop that you can see in the middle of the image. The flume then goes backwards for a bit section where it goes back around into the building under the turntable (the entrance and exit points can be seen next to the drop) - where there is another turntable sending the boats forwards into the mountain where they then go up a lifthill for the final large drop.

The mountain with the Viking helmet they have built is very impressive.

The small covered roof on the left will be the entrance to the ride. On the right will most likely be the on-ride photo selling point.

The trough returning to the station after the final drop. There is a points section so boats can be stored in another trough that runs parallel to the station.

The turn around to the station after the last drop. I love the attention to landscaping and theming here. They have placed real rocks, soil and planted trees around the area.

The boats are on site. They comprise of 3 rows each with 2 seats.

The first lifthill goes under the helmet up into the mountain.

In the afternoon some work men hung this advertisement up.

I definitely approve of another viking-themed ride opening this year! Looks great!

It's good see more flume rides being built with strong theming. Viking Voyage looks promising.

I agree Chuck, some parks are getting rid of log flumes which is a shame, it's nice to see a new one being built.

I also love the theming and that double drop with a corner looks very interesting! This is going to be a park to watch wonder what the steel coaster will bring?

Tayto Park Hotel

Tayto Park have applied for planning permission for a 7 storey hotel with conference and leisure facilities.

Additionally in a recent interview the park manager revealed they are planning on installing a kiddie coaster for 2018.

Actually, it would be nice to see a water flume ride as complex and awesome as Valhalla, in another park,.

Always makes me happy to see such effort put into theming. And as we always point out, if these little european parks can do it, why not the huge U.S. parks?
