Thanks for posting this! I saw it a couple days ago but thought if I was the one to post it, I would be accused of ulterior motives and WW3 might erupt 😉 Seriously though, I wonder if they are trying to have it ready to go for National Carousel Day on July 25th?
yes, it is a smaller park, and to be fair it's my home park and I know it well, but half a day tops for all the coasters and a couple flats. In that 2 1/2 hours, without hurry, I rode ROS X2, Predator X3, and once each , boomerang, Motocoaster, Sky screamer, Viper, tantrum and mind eraser. No need to rush to get it all done quick. Have fun.
I've heard the restraints of all straddle coasters have been recalled and have to be replaced.
No way they wanted to delay it. They were ready to go until Intamin shut them all down. Sucks for the kids and family that were looking forward to this.
Unbelievable! What a mess! Having the ride completed and ready to go and now having to delay it until next year because of poor engineering. Apparently something to do with the trains on DK at BGW. This fiasco will leave a scar!😬
From Great America, both SCBB and SFDK are at least 45-60 minute drives, and in opposite directions. So that would likely be a pretty expensive Uber/Lyft... you'd probably be better off just renting the car.
Santa Cruz also has a great downtown to explore (don't miss the Book Shop!) and other natural sights. Not so much at SFDK, haha. But you can also usually find free parking at SCBB if you park across the channel near Cliff Drive Vista Point/Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History and walk over the pedestrian railroad bridge. Plus, if you're into horror movies, the streets there are where they filmed this scene from the movie Us.
Only 2.5 hours, even with bad ops? This makes me feel somewhat better about my trip in a couple weeks. This park will be my first stop after an early flight into BUF. There's a good chance I'll be awake 24 hrs straight by the time I get into the park. Should be able to speed run through and get to my hotel and crash.
Second trip to the park today and every ride was open. I can't remember the last time I have seen every ride open at this park. The park was also busy and the water park was slammed. Finally rode predator after a 10+ years and I could not be happier to say it is no longer on the bottom 5 absolute horrible coasters I've ridden list. That titan track is amazing. If they re-do the first drop (A little profiling would'nt hurt) it could add the needed speed needed for airtime on the first camelback. The layout is still just "ok" but could improve with a little more of that Titan track. The purple train was on and the other train was nowhere to be seen, the train seems to have ony been re- painted and cleaned, same old torn padding and trains. dispatch times were about 4-5 minutes, pretty good for Darien lake. Back row is the place to be here.. ROS has this pretty, Red, brand new train sitting on the transfer track collecting rain and dust. Dipping dot guy told me they had to replace the magnetic brakes to run both and they were still waiting for parts. Dispatches were 6-9 minutes (still ouch, but better). Back row is also the place to be if you want any airtime. Rode all the coasters and still got everything done in 2 1/2 hours. This park still has potential with a couple good flats and maybe one more coaster, it certainly gets the crowds to support it, this park was insanley busy the first time Six Flags ran it, so the potential is there.
I guess it wasn't answered before any idea how busy this Friday will be? I checked wait times on friday and was pretty low but knowing this is a Holiday wasnt sure how busy the park could get
Would spend most my time around the kids rides but would love to get on copperhead streak and fury if the line isn't to bad. .
I'm doing a near-identical trip in the middle of July (flying in on Monday the 14th, a day at each park and SF exploration time, and flying home on Friday the 18th), staying in a h.otel in the heart of SF. I did end up getting a car, mostly because I think hour-long car rides with strangers are awkward (maybe that's just me) and I also wanted to bring beach stuff for the Santa Cruz day without having to carry around a big bag all day.
We will be flying in and staying in a hotel close to the park for a few days at the very end of July. The only thing I haven't sorted out is transport. We will be going here, Discovery Kingdom, and the boardwalk. Is Uber/Lyft a viable plan or should I rent a car? Thanks in advance.
