jedimaster1227
Tonight select media outlets including TPR were given the opportunity to preview the Disney+, Walt Disney Archives, and Disney Parks “Imagining Tomorrow, Today” pavilions on the show floor! These three pavilions will be open exclusively to guests throughout the weekend at the D23 Expo. Most excitingly was the Disney Parks, Experiences and Products pavilion, where details about Epcot's ongoing transformation were shared, including the announcement of a new Moana-inspired attraction called Journey of Water. Concept art, videos and models are on display in the pavilion hinting at updates to existing attractions and new attractions to be added to the park. Poster art represents past and current Epcot attractions with two slots for posters currently held with a sign that indicates that they will be revealed during Sunday's major presentation. In addition to Epcot details, the pavilion features a section about Avengers Campus, the name of the new Marvel-inspired lands coming to Disney California Adventure and Disneyland Paris. It was revealed that all Marvel-inspired attractions worldwide will have a connected story (not unlike the Marvel Cinematic Universe does across film) that spans the globe to tie these areas and attractions together. A model of the upcoming Tokyo Disneyland expansion, a tease of the new Zootopia-inspired land coming to Shanghai Disneyland and concept art for the Tron-themed coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom were just some of the additional offerings found at the pavilion. It is truly overwhelming to take in, and we were wishing we could stay longer to absorb more detail. We'll be revisiting all three of these pavilions throughout the weekend, but start here to get your first taste of the D23 Expo 2019 show floor! [twitter] [/twitter] A welcome sight! Next we previewed the new "The Walt Disney Company Archives Presents Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume” exhibit. We're excited to be back here for another D23 Expo! D23 offers its Gold Members and Gold Family Members a quarterly magazine and a member's gift when subscribing to the annual program. This year's member gift is a set of really awesome pins! Disney+, Disney's direct-to-consumer streaming platform will debut on November 12th, 2019. Guests at the D23 Expo will have the opportunity to save $23 per year when committing/prepaying for three years of Disney+ access during the Expo. A new book and companion short form docuseries called “One Day at Disney” will debut on Disney+! This project highlights Disney Cast Members like Robin Roberts from Good Morning America who evoke creativity in their roles with the company! The docuseries will consist of more than 50 shorts ranging in length between four and seven minutes. The show will launch with Disney+ and the book will be available for purchase starting on December 5th, 2019! One of the confirmed shows that will be offered exclusively on Disney+ is The Mandalorian, the first ever live-action Star Wars TV series. Four different Cinderella dresses made for four different films or TV projects were on display at this exhibit. Tron Legacy fans will love this set of costumes! Which Mary Poppins look is your favorite? Do you spy any costumes you recognize? Time to head to the Disney Parks “Imagining Tomorrow, Today” pavilion. New concept art from inside of the Guardians of the Galaxy queue. The Space restaurant will open at Epcot in the near future. How the France pavilion will look when its expansion is complete. Some new pavilion logos have sprung up in the style of the classic logos but with new shapes. What could this one be for? How about this? Or this? Or this one? I can't wait to see the France look like this when the expansion work is complete. I love the new/retro logo! Epcot's future is looking bright! Dombot
100% love at first sight with the new Epcot concept art. Everything looks stunning! The revamped Future World areas look fantastic, Epcot Forever and the new show definitely seem to be worthy successors to Illuminations, and holy crap the new ride symbols. I'm so happy Epcot is getting this much love, it really deserves it.

jedimaster1227
Yesterday was the first full day of the D23 Expo! Following the Thursday media preview I was eager to get onto the show floor to see more of the guests, presentations and pavilions featured throughout. Much of our time yesterday was spent at the Disney Legacy Ceremony and the Disney+ presentation, so there wasn't as much opportunity to explore the floor, but I'll be walking more of it over the next two days. The Disney Legacy Ceremony takes place bi-annually in tandem with the D23 Expo, where notable contributors to The Walt Disney Company across Film, Television, Music, Voice and Parks & Resorts are given the highest honor one can receive from the company. This year's recipients included Robert Downey Jr., Diane Sawyer, Jon Favreau and Bette Midler (see the full list in our report below)! Later in the day was the Disney+ presentation in Hall D23. With only an hour and a half, this was an absolutely packed presentation, featuring previews of content from The Walt Disney Studios, Marvel, Pixar, National Geographic and Lucasfilm, making it clear why people are clamoring to sign up for access to this new streaming service. The back catalog of Disney content hosted on Disney+ includes all Disney animated films, all Star Wars films, eventually all Marvel films, thousands of Disney Channel show episodes and a majority of the Disney Channel Original Movies. Original content announced or previewed for Disney+ included a live-action Lizzie Mcguire sequel series with Hillary Duff, the live action The Lady and the Tramp film, three newly announced Marvel Cinematic Universe shows (Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and She Hulk) on top of the five previously announced, a new Muppets short form series, a new series of Forky (from Toy Story 4) animated shorts, a Monsters Inc. sequel series and The Mandalorian (the first ever live action Star Wars show)... And the big surprise at the end of the presentation was the arrival of Ewan McGregor to confirm that he will reprise the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in a new live action Star Wars series for Disney+! Overall it was a fantastic first day at the D23 Expo and with two more days ahead, there's tons more to expect in terms of fun, surprises and exciting news! We’re back this morning at the D23 Expo for the first full day of the event! Follow us on Twitter throughout the weekend for photos and news from across the floor! The first of the 2019 Disney Legends to be inducted was Robert Downey Jr for his contributions to Film! The next to be honored as a Disney Legend this year was Diane Sawyer! Disney Legend Jon Favreau was next to take the stage! Guests at the D23 Expo can sign up for the Disney+ Founders Circle with a three year commitment, earning a $23 per year discount and a special pin. A look at the Disney+ Founders Circle pin. The LEGO Disney Train and Station set is available for purchase this weekend at the D23 Expo Dream Store! Which of these Disney Parks Designer Collection Ear Hats do you love the most? They are available for purchase at the D23 Expo Dream Store! Guests are pouring in to the Anaheim Convention Center for the start of the D23 Expo Day 1! The Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Robert Iger was here to host the Disney Legends Ceremony at the D23 Expo! The next to be named a Disney Legend was Hans Zimmer for his contributions to Music! The next to be honored as a Disney Legend was Robin Roberts from Good Morning America! For her contributions to Music, Christina Aguilera has been named a Disney Legend. Barnette Ricci was named a Disney Legend for her contributions to Disney Parks & Resorts including her work on Fantasmic! and the Main Street Electrical Parade! For her contributions in Film and Voice, Ming Na Wen has been named a Disney Legend! It was also announced that Ming Na has joined the cast of The Mandalorian! The next to be honored as a Disney Legend was James Earl Jones for his Voice contributions to The Walt Disney Company! Wing T. Chao was honored as a Disney Legend for his contributions to Imagineering! For his contributions in Film and Television, Kenny Ortega has been named a Disney Legend! For her contributions in Film for The Walt Disney Company, Bette Midler has been named a Disney Legend! For its first ever D23 Expo with the Walt Disney Company, National Geographic had a unique indoor pavilion featuring immersive projections and sea creature art created with recycled materials. Some neat things to see in here! Disney On Broadway brought several props from their current Broadway shows including Frozen... The Lion King... And Aladdin! Guests can walk through their own portal with this photo op at the Marvel Studios pavilion on the show floor. Disney on Broadway is also giving D23 guests the chance to experience an immersive VR experience. The World According to Jeff Goldblum is a new show coming to Disney+ and it looks so fun! Guests can see a demo of the Disney+ user interface at the Disney+ pavilion. Noelle, a new Christmas movie featuring Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader from Disney Studios will debut with the launch of Disney+ this November. It is easy to forget in all that is going on at the D23 Expo that Hulu is now a part of the Walt Disney Company, which means Handmaid's Tale is a Disney property! Some of the pavilions at the D23 Expo will provide pins if you come to visit them! Sports fans can check out the ESPN+ pavilion at this weekend’s D23 Expo! The Disney Store has a pop-up shop featuring several Disney films with fun photo ops and merchandise! Amazing LEGO sculptures as always! Brushing shoulders with Jeff Goldblum... No big deal! There are some amazing cosplayers at the D23 Expo! Any fans of The Brave Little Toaster out there? Coco for the win! Inventive! Interesting... Flora, Fauna and Merryweather! Don't be fooled... There's actually someone in this balloon suit! The queuing experience at the D23 Expo has improved over the years, with StagePass being introduced to help minimize the extended overnight queues that plague most conventions... Standby queues still exist for those that don't secure StagePasses, but if you get a StagePass, you'll wait a few hours versus waiting for half a day (or even overnight). This Paint the Night parade cosplay is fantastic! Waiting to head into the Disney+ presentation! Honda is presenting a "The History of Autopia" with a neat walk through exhibit on the show floor! Some classic Autopia cars are on display... Along with some great historical images of the attraction throughout the year. Fun that they've managed to organize the lines of people on the road. If you want to buy merchandise, you can get a StorePass... Kind of like a FastPass for shopping. Otherwise you can wait in the line for Standby. You get this pin for visiting the exhibit... And it is lenticular! Insane! That wraps up Day 1 of the D23 Expo... We'll be back for the next two days to cover more!

bigboy
I ordered the Lego train set on Wednesday and it was on my porch after work last night. 4 hours of work down, 12 of 18 bags left. The locomotive, tender, and one coach are done. I didn't see it in any of your pics, but the 3-level Haunted Mansion costume with a working Omnimover track is off the chain. And, yeah, that Jeff Goldblum show looks brilliant.
MayTheGForceBeWithYou
I've been curious to see where the new Epcot plans go, and I'm liking the blend of old and new that's going on (loving the return of the pavilion logos). The fact that Imagination appears on that model of updates really has me excited for tomorrow to see if anything good comes of it.

The fact that Imagination appears on that model of updates really has me excited for tomorrow to see if anything good comes of it. Ooh, now that you mention it, I could totally see them ditching the Imagination Institute for something new. It feels like we're experiencing the Disney Parks Second Renaissance and I love it. Nrthwnd
There's got to be some kind of restaurant and/or bar in that elevated, treed/landscaped spot, opposite Imagination. And I suspect (at least) the other side of it, facing the lagoon, will be a prime spot for the new evening show and "dinner/bar/show packages", etc. P.S. Love the possible concept, and we'd definitely want to experience/eat/drink it, when we're there in the future.

Nrthwnd
Wow, this is total abundance of awesomeness being revealed this year's EXPO! Looking at all the concept art of everything in all the world's Disney Parks, makes me wish for One Big Lottery Win for travel, LOL! Thanks for posting all of this. By the way, is anything to be announced for Tokyo Disney Resort? Or is it because Oriental Land Company owns that property (with Disney designing and building it), it wouldn't be part of this EXPO, which is run by Disney? Thought I would ask. EDIT: Ooops. I just realized they run (don't they?) a separate D23 event in Tokyo, just for Tokyo Disney Resort. In the even years? I forget. I'm overwhelmed with other D23 announcements, lol! And as an Epcot fan, this was the year to be here. Epcot is undergoing its largest transformation ever, and based on all that was announced (and there's plenty that wasn't that concept art and models in the Parks pavilion at the Expo hinted at), the park is going to be reinvigorated in a way that honors what came before and builds upon that creativity to deliver a more timeless, family-friendly park with the integration of new Disney properties and some creative design to elevate this World's Fair-style park into something more. Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland, Disneyland Paris and Shanghai Disneyland were all given announcements (everything in the works for Tokyo Disney has already been announced) as well. The presentation even shared new details about the first of the three new Disney Cruise Line ships, announcing the first as the Disney Wish while revealing it would feature a grand, three story atrium. Disney Cruise Line has also purchase a new section of land in Eleuthera, Bahamas known as Lighthouse Point where it will make its second private island destination for Bahamian sailings available to cruising guests.
