^ I believe the park gave up on that attraction. Apparently there were reports about pending lawsuits between HP and the mfg. (perhaps they settled the lawsuit), but I doubt they will install one now. Too bad, that ride looks quite interesting.

So I got this out of the local paper about the new attraction

Hersheypark announced a $20 million addition Wednesday that is expected to open in time of the park's 100th season in 2007. Construction began a year ago on The Boardwalk at Hersheyparl, a 4 1/2-acre are near Midway America that will feature five new wanter attractions, 11 food vendors, seven retail outlets, six games, and shaded areas filled with hundreds of beach-style lounge chairs. The new attractions, which comprise the biggest single financial investment in the park's 100-year history, draw from the park's origin as a ''picnic and pleasure grounds'' for chocolate factory employees. It also will incorporate elements of a large outdoor swimming complex opened at the park in 1911 that was billed as ''the seashore at your door.'' ''WE thought the whole concept of a boardwalk in an amusement was a nice marriage,'' said Frank O'Connell, park general manager. "At the boardwalk, it's all about the experience: the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes.'' Park officials say the centerpeice attraction, ''East Coast Waterworks," is the world's largest water play structure. It will include more tan 225 feet of bridges, seven slides, two crawl tunnels and nearly 200 interactive water toys. Coastline Plunge is a seperate slide complex that will bring the game "Chutes and Ladders" to life with tubes, bowls, and troughs. Bayside Pier will be a 48,000-gallon, zero depth-entry pool, while Sandcastle Cove will feature a tot pool and oversized sandcastle with water elements designed for oung children. The Waverider interactive sport/skill ried lets participants experience wave riding in a controlled environment. The lines of two water rides - Canyon River Rapids amd Tidal Force - will be rocinfigured to enter from and exit onto the new boardwalk. The park has also planned new shows, fireworks displays, and a beach-party-themed version of Picnic in the Park and and a host of new programs and promotions for its centennial season. Kathy Burrows, park spokeswoman, called the plans "the best news in the park's history."

Personally I don't see where they can fit 4 1/2 acres but Hershey is full of surprises. Well I was there on Tuesday and I don't know what is going where exactly, but they have a bunch of fences up and footers down for something and they have a building done, but the area being worked on is DEFINATELY not 4 1/2 acres. The slides and support structures for the kiddie are and slide complex have arrived too. I took pictures but I computer is being dumb, hopefully I'll be able to get them up later.

I'm sorry but that doesn't seem enough for a 100th year anniversary.

Look at SFGAm, they sprouted up a FULL scale water park with 15+ slides. This park is only going to have...4? Come on Hershey do better than that.

Still, I like the theme, HP is still due for a water park. so in a way, its a good move.

^but SFGAm had more land to work with and a bigger budget This expansion will cost 20 million dollars, and that is a lot of money considering this will be a family attraction.

I think this looks good considering the few attractions they will have, but they have something for everyone.Plus they have the largest water play area which the GP will love.
