pkd804
In your opinion, whats the worlds best topspin? Tomb Raider: Firefall is imo. Fall to the fire!
pcw guy
how can you have a favourite, most top spins are made the same. the ride also depends on the program that the operator uses.
TheGreatOne
Many have told me Astroland's Top Spin is by far the best-run and intense top spin out there.

pkd804
^The one at Kings Island is very slow, but they do have some decent theming!
martinb
IMO best looking that I've seen is Ripsaw, but the best ride I had was on the Terminator at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach, absolutely awsome and it had bendy arms -Martyn
dougstanton
Kings Island is on a cycle that holds your head upside down for what feels like forever, and you actually hear people screaming in pain. My head was actually throbbing. It wasn't anywhere near fun, just plain hell. The only others I have been on are at Six Flags Great Adventure and Geauga Lake. The Geauga Lake one you can normally tell them what cycle you want because people going to that park is nonexistent with daily crowds averaging around 2,000, you have the park to yourself. coastakid
I was looking for a topic on this and here it is! my opinion changed yesterday when I went to SFNE! They did something I haven't seen in seasons before. They fill up the back row first, becuase the operator told me that then it flips more, and it did, it pulled out 7 consecutive flips. It was insane with no one in the front row! Also, When they usually hang you and then bring you down looking straight at the ground, we actually flipped, so 8 flips throughout the ride! SFNE definetley gets my vote
Canobie Fan
I hate topspins... Because everyone I have been on but 2 suck sooo much. I dont even ride SFNEs anymore because its just soooo bad. TRTR at PKI - Sucks -- What the hell is that?! Maybe 3 flips.. and then its over. TRFF at PKD - Sucks -- The floorless-ness adds NOTHING to ride. Twister at SFNE - Sucks -- Sometimes they run it with just ONE flip.... TopSpin at Lake Compounce - was 'ok' -- Never seemed to be opened.. Twister (I think?) at SFohio - Good. Topspin at Astroworld - Best in the US Twister at SFDL (Ran 2 cycles back to back) - Was ok Twister at SFGAdv - Just as bad as SFNEs Hangtime at Dorney - ALmost an OK ride.. But it wasnt Didnt ride SFGAms... But it ran the same prog SFDL did. Best topspin I have ever been on was at some fair in Germany. Went by the name "Top Spin FRESH" had the water jets.. and for 5E gave 15 flips. I would love to see even ONE park in the US run a topspin with 15 flips... Edit - forgot to add Dorneys. haiderodes
Although I didn't ride it Riptide at KBF was pretty cool to watch. I know this ride gets mixed reviews, but the crowds love it as often there is a bigger crowd watching than riding. I especially love when the gondola flips and the bottom smacks the water sending it down onto the crowd. It seems each cycle is pretty much the same however it depends on the weight whereas one cycle I saw had 6 free swinging flips while most of the others were 3 to 5 flips. ECZenith
I have been on the following... Top Spin (basic model) Lake Compounce (now at kennywood) SFNE's Twister SFGADV's Twister Dorney Park's Hang Time NY State Fair (Strates) Top Spin (suspended model) Knott's Riptide Top Spin (giant) PKI's Tomb Raider (does this count?) My favorite is the last one I mentioned. World's only giant top spin, plus extensive theming, and enclosed in the dark... it brings a tear to the eye. Photo credit - Extreme PKI One of th efew good photos inside the ride building. Twister is painted nicely but usually has a lame cycle... Riptide was a lot of fun. Jon Sabo
Would this be including ride quality and/or a combination of: 1. Ride quality (cycles). 2. Theming 3. Program intensity
pkdcoaster
Wow I did not know PKI's has 3 rows...I did not know they had a 3 row model JEFF

paulosthejackal
It doeas all depend on the ride program, Ripsaw at Alton Towers is an decent topspin but has never set my heart racing. But a few weeks ago on my last visit it was a wet day and an empty park. The ride op treated us to a insanely long ride in which we all got soaked (twice) and we were hung upside down twice. it was awsome
holydumb26
Ive only been on two different Huss Top Spins King Chaos- at SFGAm when in 2004 it was running a pretty intense program but later 2004 and 2005 it was running pretty weak..but there is good news I actually rode it again with in the last 2 weeks and its running fairly decently we got about 7 flips if only they could get water blasters at that ride and make it a water ride! In 2004 I also went on Shake Rattle and Roll at Six Flags Elitch Gardens- I don't care what people say about this park The coasters suck but they have 2 wicked flat rides their Rainbow ride and this top spin are GREAT! Id say easily 11 flips per cycle when I rode it half empty in 2004 but whats even cooler is because its such a short ride cycle the ride ops send you again with out loading more people! It was a treat to say the least!
CD
Riptide at Valleyfair! is my all time favorite, and I have been on a lot. I don't know why but I just love this top spin! I love the water affects and the ride cycle, it is just soo much fun. I LOVE riptide
pkd804
Those "Giant Topspins" I heard they are slow and they suck. Although it's not used as a topspin... It's an escape vehicle so it doen't move around too much or do many flips... Tomb Raider: The Ride only does 4 flips...
Screamomatic
The Mondial One at Wonderland is pretty Cool, it has two rows so when you're flipping(and it flips a lot!), The other row is right above youre head! After you go through the Water, the other row has Water dripping from it and it gets you more soaked then you already are. I rode it two times in a row and me and my buddy got totally soaked, head to toes, even my underwear was wet! It's a not that big, but the Double Gondolas and the Water make it really fun. It's the best ride in the park, which is really sad but whatever...
XII
Riptide at Valleyfair! is my all time favorite, and I have been on a lot. I don't know why but I just love this top spin! I love the water affects and the ride cycle, it is just soo much fun. Do You know about Riptide at KBF Riptide barley flips at all, but its less painful Voodoo-Good Program, 6 flips and then the ride is over The floorless models are less painful than the Standard Models, because of that, I like Riptide more than Voodoo. Golfie
Well, the best top spin is DEFINITELY not the one at SFGAm. You can't even stand within 20 feet of it because of the piercing squeaky noise it makes.
verticalzero
Can someone explain what "program settings" Topspins have: e.g. 1-4 or 1-6 1= A gentle ride 4/6 = Spin n def "puke" Extreme setting We can ask the "Operators" to change the program setting to our liking when we ride the Topspins. Dailey Enterprizes
I hate Kennywood's topspin (King Kahuna) because they do run the tamest settings on it and they don't even run the water effects they installed on it. I know they did the first season and it was alot of fun, but it just sucks now. Anyway I heard Geauga Lake's TopSpin is great, so I guess I'll be looking to ride it someday.
