WildEagle2014 Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Where would this ride go rockin roadway is still open but a spot out from thunderhead has been cleared and grass has been sowed into the hill directly from the lift hill This is the dirt from the new parking area. The park filled in a huge sink hole and made a mound with the dirt left over now planted grass on it. I doubt you will see anything new in that area, at least any time in the near future.
Iron Wolf 90-11 Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 So was Cas Walkers the station for rockin roadway?
Dollywoodlover20 Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Cars Walkers was just a little shop. Rockin Roadway has its own station and all that.
cwgator Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 So was Cas Walkers the station for rockin roadway? Although I've only been to the park a couple times, I'm going to miss that view.
Bobby2889 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I think they'll be working Cas Walker into the theme of Shot Rod, maybe he's the mechanic that built the hot rods. I'm sure the theming tie in will be nicely done. Maybe the station with be a revamped version of the Gas Station.
Vonni Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Hoping and praying not too many trees have to come down! Fortunately, DW always replant trees when it is required to remove some, and I believe that they replace with more than were actually removed. Something like two for every one.

Jim Owens and Rube Dugan both lost their rides in the 80s, and they're still alive and well. Hoping and praying not too many trees have to come down! Fortunately, DW always replant trees when it is required to remove some, and I believe that they replace with more than were actually removed. Something like two for every one. That's correct. Two planted for every one cut down has been a requirement from the beginning. Quite a few trees came down during Outlaw Run's construction, but the area has been nicely regrown. Two years in, it's back to forest. They'll do this right. Edited April 14, 2015 by ytterbiumanalyst
coasterbill Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 They'll do this right. This... HFE really knows what it's doing. I have complete faith in them. I was skeptical about Firechaser as it looked like a mess from some of the overviews but after seeing it in person I realized I was totally wrong about it. I'm sure this will be no different, whatever it is.

Cas Walker, for those who don't know, owned a chain of about 30 grocery stores in this region - east tn, western Virginia and east ky. Cas Walker also had a television and radio show that he used to promote his stores. The show would feature artists (among other stuff) and it was one of Dolly's earlier ventures into the entertainment industry. I think she was in her teens when she first went on Cas Walker's show. So, he was one of the many people who helped launch Dolly's early career. That is the short story of who Cas Walker is and why he's important to Dolly. I would expect to see another Cas Walker reference pop back up in Dollywood in some form or fashion. here's a video... [youtu_be]https://youtu.be/3yc4Xxy1Ctg[/youtu_be]
dstephe9 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Cas Walker will show back up in the park I am sure..his variety, which was local, is what help start dollies carrier.. So I'm sure he will show back up in the park somehow Haha wait ^^^^ said the same thing I just did.. I should have read his entire post
Dollywoodlover20 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Dolly was on there as a very young girl, right around "Puppy Love". She wrote/sang the Theme song for Cas Walker's show and it went like " Pick up your mornin' paper as it hits the street, Cas Walkers prices they just can't be beat. Get that Blueband Coffee and you'll want some more, do you're grocery shoppin' at the Cas Walker store." Not sure how many gas stations he had, but he had more large chained grocery stores. Pretty sure the main one was in Sevierville.
Bobby2889 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Thanks for the info, I actually had no idea that Cas Walker was a real person, that's pretty darn cool.
dstephe9 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 That's one reason Dollywood is so authentic haha
dollywoodguy75 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 What if shot rod is a drop tower and a rmc is built near timber canyon
I305forever Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 ^I am not aware of any drop towers that cost 20 million dollars, so I doubt its a drop tower. They also said its a coaster in the copyright documents.
jarmor Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 What if shot rod is a drop tower and a rmc is built near timber canyon Have you been following? Why would they need to clear trees, have survey flags all over an area and start this early for a drop tower but have no construction going on near timber canyon?
FSUFanChris Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I'm going out on a limb and going to guess the South's first TTD-type coaster (not 400+ feet, though).
jarmor Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 You are going out on a weak limb...lol. I don't think dollywood will get anything taller than the tree line...or anything remotely similar to TTD.
I305forever Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 ^^ I think they are going to go for a more creative and unique type of ride and not have one which just focuses on stats.
dstephe9 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Dollywood will build tall rides.. Wild eagles lift hill is VERY tall compared to most coasters BUT Dollywood seems to only build tall rides to go with the terrain.. I don't imagine we would ever see a ride that's tall like TTD just out of nowhere.. If Dollywood has a ride with a 200 or 300 ft drop its because or the terrain or its because it will fit the terrain.. At least I think so
dollywoodguy75 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 What about the train loop they said they would expand up to it before 2020
ernierocker Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 ^Your guess is as good as ours. Right now every one is concentrating on the area around Rockin' Roadway because it is clear that is where the 2016 coaster is going.
jarmor Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 What about the train loop they said they would expand up to it before 2020 That's some steep terrain to get up there. Its gonna take a lot to make a path ADA compliant to get the folks to the loop...
dollywoodguy75 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 They could a train station up there plus they've got roads going up.there they could just pave theme I they have in the past
