Nrthwnd Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Canada doesn't have Saturday snail mail delivery anymore. Hasn't had it for a good couple of decades or more, really. That said, a knock on the door late this morning made me think it was "somebody wanting a donation for..." or "sombody asking me if I am happy with my phone/server/cable/wahtever service..." so I just sort-of ignored it. Then I heard the screen door opened and closed - and then, nothing. I looked out the keyhole peeper in the door - saw a guy walking back to a postal delivery truck! Immediately opened the door! And found... With my Whitman's Sampler "in hand", I gather my horde for future.... enjoyment. THANKS JULIE!!! Big Bear Hugsss!!! And THEN I found "the little note" in the box - and LMAO. "Pixie Dust," indeed. That was a F-ing CUP OF GLITTER in that *&%$ package Lady, LOLOL. OMG OMG OMG Yummy JD liquor 'candy.' WOOT! And the 'single barrel' kind, too. More yummy. ...and then I found this. Hmmm. Doesn't look like a candy bar. I wonder... And with the Clusters, a Moon Pie (ate it), Fastbreak, Take 5, PayDay, Baby Ruth, Mr. Goodbar, and a mini-Whitman's Sampler! OMG - Goo Goo Clusters! Whole boxful of'em! Direct from the Nashville Home Company. (sort of, heh heh) Whoa! Individually paper-wrapped.... stuff! This is too cool. Hmmm - some glitter here. Quite the handful, I find. Eventually.... So far, so good... How does my Happy & Excited 'Look" ... look? Our cat, Camille suggests: Are we opening this *&$%^@+* thing or not??? Hmmm. Let's see here... Wait a sec - Infant Oxygen Sensor??? Hmmmm, maybe no candy here.... )o: Ooo! Ooo! It's my candy package from USRT (Julie) in Tennessee!!! Wheeee! Well, I know it didn't knock on the door by itself...... hmmm?
USRoadTripper Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Glad you are enjoying everything Bill! What says Nashville more than Goo Goos and Jack Daniels? Maybe a Bible and a crazy woman to thump it? hahaha It took me weeks, literally, to find the Moon Pie. It was gonna be a whole box, but when I found the singles, I decided to go with one single and a bunch of other stuff. I still have not found entire boxes of Moon Pies! And it wasn't a cup of glitter! Please, a whole cup of glitter would have been messy! It was a couple of tablespoons at best! -Julie (who thinks the best thing is that box is the Fast Break bar)
Nrthwnd Posted February 26, 2006 Author Posted February 26, 2006 Funny things is, I immediately decided the Moon Pie was to be The First To Go...... mwa ha ha ha..... And - it was. Just goes to show, the good die young - or get eaten first, LOLOL!
Hattuchili Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Aww, all that candy stuff looks good! Nice Photo TR, Bill! I am really looking forward to some US candy! Only a few weeks! --Sören
Tömmioh Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Nice PTR! I'm glad you got the candies and liked them. At first glance I thought I saw some marshmellows in the box, lol. I've only had Babyruth and Mr. Goodbar out of those, they're good mmmm... btw. Does Fastbreak taste anything like Reese's nutrageous? That reminded me of the American shop in city, I should go there to see if they've got some new yummy candies.
SharkTums Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 That's awesome! The Glitter was a nice touch too!
Fatality Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Haha, That's cool. =P That made me crave for some chocalate.
DarkStitch626 Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 What the heck is a moon pie? never heard of them?
DerekRx Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Awesome stuff! I don't think I've ever had like 75% of that stuff, with the exception of the Baby Ruth, which was given out on my birthday to all of my dad's friends and coworkers. I think Dave T's head would explode if he saw all that stuff. Enjoy it!
Nrthwnd Posted February 26, 2006 Author Posted February 26, 2006 What the heck is a moon pie? never heard of them? First of all, in the last pic up ^ there in the TR, it's to the left of the PayDay candy bar. With the blue-like wrapper, square and all? That's the Moon Pie. Off the wrapper it says, "The Only One on The Planet." It also boasts, "The original marshmallow sandwich."... Mmm, maybe on both. But I believe it's actually that old "play on words," as MP is not the "only one" etc. etc. It's only the Only Moon Pie on the Planet, lol. Anyway... Basically it's a 'sandwich' of three layers of graham cracker cookie, the thinnest layer in the middle. Marshamallow in two layers surrounding the middle graham. Then, all covered in chocolate. Yum, huh? I do know that there's a similar type cookie-sandwich called Wagon Wheel that's sold up here in Canada. Maybe it's a Canuck thing? Or do they sell them too, in the States. Anybody? And - I remember hearing that Moon Pie came up with, at one time, a banana flavored marshamallow version of same..... hmmm? It probably was the first marshmallow sandwich invented, etc. Hmmm? MP is sold mainly in the midwest, and south eastern states, so a lot of US west coast peeps and pretty well all Canadians haven't heard of it. I only have, because I used to travel a lot around the eastern seaboard, and as far south as FL. And the midwest, of course. But in it's form as it is - definitely not the "only one" on this planet, now, lol. ~ Hope that helps. ~
Carnage Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I was never a big fan of Wagon Wheel's. However Joe Louis and Flakies I ate all the time. Mmm, makes me want to walk across the street to the store.
Nrthwnd Posted February 26, 2006 Author Posted February 26, 2006 ^ Was it only a Canadian candy/cookie, tho? Or is it/was it ever sold in the States as well as here?
gtaylor Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 FYI, at least here in Northern VA, Cracker Barrel always has the boxes of Moon Pies.
waterviper Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 MMMM... Banana moon pies are the best!!!!!
memphish Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Now you can have your moon pies delivered to your door anytime you want! http://www.favoritesof.com/products/moonpieframe.html
Nrthwnd Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 Wow! That's fantastic. Thanks for posting the URL. Unfortuantely, I am sure my 'shipping costs' (to Canada)may be somewhat prohibitive in the buying of such nice BIG amounts of fave sweets. Ah well. Good to pour over, drool and go glassy-eyed on, heh heh. And I still may contact them (as they advise) to find out exactly what the costs would be for shipping a BOXFUL of Moon Pies my way, lolol!
DarkStitch626 Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Wow now thats alot of Moon Pies. I must have them.. *orders the moon pie sampler*
