Hey boys and girls!

I'm interested into spiders since years and a few days ago I heard that these sweet critters aren't that expensive I thought - So here is Gertrude!!

It's a Brachypelma Albopilosum, one of the 'user-friendly' spiders.

Anybody else here who own's spiders...? Or Snakes? Frogs? Anything exotic? Or do you have Arachnophobia??

Yeah, I don't own anything exotic anymore, but I do know a WHOLE bunch about most of them. For the record, tarantulas vary in aggression, but what you mentioned about being "user-friendly" is somewhat true and somewhat false. The hair follicles on a tarantula irritate the human skin and if you manage to get any into your eyes...it's off to the ER with you! Assuming you are careful and don't mind being really itchy for hours after handling one, then go for it. Just don't be pissed if it lashes at you and you get a nasty tarantula bite...because they're NOT very fun!

Assuming that is indeed a true Honduran, it should be extremely docile. Good luck!

But yes, spiders are not very expensive...in fact, most venomous snakes are not either. You can buy spitting cobras online for pretty cheap too! I would never recommend GETTING any venomous reptile, but that's just me... 8)

Even before the movie I have always hatted them. Now if those lil beasties didnt bite then it would be all good!!! I like all instects that dont bite, sting, pinch or cause any bodily harm!!

I have a green tree frog that's brown . It's been alive for more than four damn years!! I like exotic pets, and I've never understood why people are afraid of them :?

Seems like I got infected by kind of a spider-fever (like the "pokemon-fever" a few years ago...).

Since my last post in this thread the number of spiders I own increased to four. Hope someone is interrested into a few new spider-pictures of my cuties.

- Gertrude, my first spider, is still alive (wow!).

- here she's doing the 'There are two small grasshopper in my mouth at once" - dance.

- Gertrude bulit an nice cobweb-carpet (Watch here how she's doing that HERE - Quicktime, please do not stream!).

- That's Ursula, my second one. Sometimes she's a bit agressive.

Ursula built some crazy cubweb. Notice that there was only the crotch and the straw-nest in the terrarium when I put her in .

I like her yellow coloration on the legs.

Say Hello to "Anette", spider number 3.

Sitting an a plastique stone...

I love this colors

Renate - I got hera few days ago. She's my biggest spider. As big as a palm .

And that's Renate's terrarium whit I completed yesterday...

Hope, you like spider-pictures!

Have a nice day,

Bernhard

My friend use to have a small red foot Tarantula, a couple years ago till it somehow got out of its tank and his mother stepped on it accidentally in the kitchen.. It was so cool, Spiders aside from the Brown Recluse (second most poisonous spider on earth or 3rd) yet its very common. My teacher got bit by one about 2 years ago and god it left a mark...

Wait, your teacher got bit by a Recluse? If it's so venemous, how the hell is she still alive?
