Personally, I think it looks taller. Once you've stood next to X, you definitely can get a feel for the size of the ride. Compare the width of that track to everything around it, and remember it's over twice the width of standard track.

That's a big damn ride.

Posted

Well, if you think it isn't very big, how tall is a 'standard' shoot the chutes?

Then compare the height of the drop to the splash boat structure next to Eejanaika.

I can't say I've measured this thing, but it is bery, bery big.

I though the station looked small when it was just the foundation, now I can't believe how big that turned out.

I still want to know how they are going to put the track in the station now that it has roof beams!

"Isn't it Great?"

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around that.

Eejanaika is weird to type, too.

79 days to teh opening of Eejanaika!

Too bad I'll be out to sea!

I've been asking around on some japanese sites on their opinions and thoughts of the name.

Hello!

I'm koni.

I'm webmaster on this web site.

Perhaps, "EEJANAIKA" mians "Ain't it great"in English in literal translation.

However, this word gives our a deeper impression for the Japanese.

It is difficult to explain the impression.

This name is not Cool, but it is like joke and impact.

It is on purpose.

I thought this name is not good at the first impression.

However now,I wishes that it is admitted as the interesting name.

I do not think that this name is too good. Because this meaning is a name of the riot that occurred in Japan in the past.

Outlines of the riot are the following content.

"A large earthquake, the tidal wave, and the heavy rain occurred one after another, attention ascetic's except mishap etiquette was nothing but done in various places, and people had fallen into the state of the panic.

The people felt the symptom of the revolution of the world sensitive, endured the leaning social unrest heavily in the meantime, did not cut, and were crazy about the social reform to a new world."

It doesn't seem to be too good when thinking suitable as the name of the roller coaster.

The 2nd one strikes me as a bit odd but fits with what a few people have said.

Hey, all, I noticed that this thread has started to get a little popular, so I figure I should advise everyone that I may not get to Fuji-Q this weekend for my planned construction update. My brother-in-law was talking about visiting, and after that we would all drive up to the in-laws. If that falls apart, (and it seems that it may,) I will still go this Saturday and post pictures on Sunday. (My time zone.) If it happens, she has said that next weekend is cool, as she wants to go get drunk with her girlfriends in Tokyo.

Sorry if anyone's been waiting on me!

I would agree with the person that posted the same comment. It surely doesn't look the advertised 262+' tall, but taking a closer look at the surrounding support structure, it does tend to look over 200' tall. I'm sure once the lift hill is complete, we can gather a better view on the overall height.

Posted

Since I'm the guy who first reported that height number, I feel like I should remind everybody:

The height was reported to me in meters, by a Japanese construction worker. Between the two of us, there wasn't a lot of shared language. I asked him in English what the maximum or top height of the coaster was. He replied in Japanese 'Hachi-ju miita' which is 80 meters.

It is possible that he was telling me the top of the lightning rod (not installed yet at the time of my last update) at the peak of the lift hill is 80 meters off the ground. That would move the top height of the track down about ten feet.

Just an thought I had.

But, isn't that park located within the vicinity of an airport (or along an airplane path)? That, more than likely, be a major reason for installing the light-tower at the top of the lift. It was posted on the RCDB site as quoting the lift height being 262' (meaning feet, not meters). Perhaps it was a misprint or did not specify it being metric...Only in America are we still the pitiful ones using the standard measurement system instead of metric..lol

^ There is no airport near Fuji-Q.

A lightning rod is a metal pole with a wire running down from it to the ground. In the event of a lightning strike, the electricity runs down the wire instead of the roller coaster. If the electricity entered the coaster it could concievably fry the motor or electronics. This ride looks like it will have 4! (That's overkill!) A lightning rod is normally installed at the highest point of a ride so that the lightning hits it before the rest of the ride.

^ I know what a lightning rod is...lol I had to take a certification class in FL..relating to amusement ride safety.

I said lightning rod in my post.

You said light tower in yours.

I ASSumed that you didn't understand what I was talking about.

Have you seen a picture that shows a light on top of the lift hill?

Oooooooooooooooooooh Chris.

Guess we can wait, whimper snivel tremble sniffle for a bit.

Rollermonkey, Got an update for us lately?

I can't wait to see what it looks like since the last update was a while ago. I wonder if trains are on site yet.

Posted

Well, I just got back from Fuji-Q. It was closed, so in some ways it feels like I only have half an update. (No shots from the ferris wheel, near Pizza-La: The Ride, the patio or from near the splash boats.)

The good news is that track work is about 90% finished, so the layout is easily identifiable:

Station

Right 180 turn

Lift

'Dip'

Vertical Drop

Inside Raven Turn

Full-Full

Massive Overbanked Turn (left - 180)

Half-Half

Outside Raven Turn

@ 20 foot upslope

Downhill Brake Run

Station

The only track not yet installed is the top trestle of the lift, the lift peak, the first half of the dip, the brake run and the section between the outside raven and the brake run. I do not know if the transfer track is installed, but the track for the loading platform is there.

I found George! (The weirdest support ever got stranger when they put it in!)

The supports continue to be insane.

Still no sign of the trains, but with the station completely covered in black walls, it is possible that they are inside already.

I also shot a little video. After I'm done with the pictures, I'll see what I can do with it. (It's the first time using my new video camera.)

(I noticed that a couple of my pictures are only slightly different from each other. I'm going to post them all anyways, as unlike a certain orange B&M, it seems like I'm the only person doing construction updates on this coaster!)

On to the pictures!

DSC01258.jpg.4e7307b015329bede5313c2a8a4e1afb.jpg

EXTREME ZOOM! Catwalks for the lift hill and some other supports. I didn't see any unlifted track on site today.

DSC01257.jpg.612cb4db927a4cc8654f599f1a4fff79.jpg

The station is looking huge and very black. (You can see some touched up supports in this shot, too.)

DSC01256.thumb.jpg.d158aba33ae641fefb000dd708150acf.jpg

I still can't get over the odd support structure. There were two crane crews in operation again today. :)

DSC01255.jpg.35a0d08b4a7727e95c00c5a860e37458.jpg

A bit of electrical wires? This is where I parked my car. I put my video camera away before going up the stairs.

DSC01254.jpg.0a98045dfddda50b1f996913e2845e0c.jpg

You can see that there is scaffolding inside the station, too.

DSC01253.jpg.e4e8ac435d01749fd2f1d5474ddfc820.jpg

The station has recieved a LOT of attention. The supports seem to have recieved a lot of rubbing.

DSC01252.jpg.d8dd230e1e72da1650c2ae935627cee9.jpg

The BEEFY and MEATNORMOUS supports are getting out of hand here! These ones look a little top heavy.

DSC01251.jpg.f0d02652a265a523ed02a28c324b1e7a.jpg

I must have really gotten someone in trouble! They wouldn't even let me into the little parking lot this time! Oops! (Page 31 for details!)

DSC01250.jpg.5ef3cbd7884bd78c78dd9f9e9271689d.jpg

Maybe some airtime into that Half-Half?

DSC01249.jpg.18980bf69d5e0280e8444a04968dccb0.jpg

This would be one of those angles that make the overbank look nearly inverted.

DSC01248.jpg.be507ca989ff742877bd841f6763c2c1.jpg

There will be catwalk all the way from the station to the top of the lift. You can see the attachment points on the side of the spine.

DSC01247.jpg.4d38805c8a5a245aae47ac1f4dc2db2b.jpg

Highland Dormitory. I don't know what it is, but the spiral staircase on the end provides a great vantage point for Eejanaika construction photos!

DSC01246.jpg.2a502dddcde9fc883750ad3c60a6a191.jpg

An uncommon sight: Flat 4D track.

DSC01245.jpg.b63d5107361a027022193f7939a13570.jpg

Lightning rod #3. I wonder where #4 will go? Hmm...

;)

DSC01244.jpg.b6a6eeb74eefadf1ff307aee3f6f39f7.jpg

Pretty shot of the day. Last month these branches were covered in Cherry Blossoms (Sakura). This month, the Overbank is the star!

DSC01243.jpg.4cf407b49051ecedfe66c9e80fc61c66.jpg

Eejanaika's lift hill has the same trestle structure as found on X. There are only two here though.

DSC01242.jpg.933bbbbf9b3a00bcbd2f6b9cf2c5fc13.jpg

Meh, the Full-Full is OLD news! The lift hill is almost where it's at!

DSC01241.jpg.9ade95a3e92beac381239ef7fbfcaa00.jpg

From the train station side of the overbank.

DSC01240.thumb.jpg.74ed6df7dd2c35a136f3271a7ff5290d.jpg

I don't enjoy the caption: "A closer look" so I'll just tell you that the only thing on here I can read is Eejanaika. (It's above the circle.)

DSC01239.jpg.670f8691b799fdf6b3545292568212fa.jpg

Every single one of the construction signs now has a sticker slapped on it.

DSC01238.jpg.540e3ea92a407eb959ba68fe9355965b.jpg

Now we know what the extra footers are for and where the lift chain motor is.

DSC01237.jpg.c0da15d63726aad8c5f4b65c46917962.jpg

Looking up the lift hill is so much more satisfying with track in place, isn't it?

DSC01236.jpg.b29448c35e9a9de341f98cf7c7770715.jpg

Hey, look! There's George! He looks even weirder installed, doesn't he? I will still pet him and love him, though!

DSC01235.jpg.990234866b6ae1fa0ef4431fdaa97c56.jpg

The supports are asymetrical because the lift starts up under the overbanked turn.

DSC01234.jpg.53636540cd4ec9ab1895281626443fa7.jpg

There's an escape ladder, but it doesn't go all the way up. Weird.

DSC01233.jpg.a5d238dab16304e13015754d35204f6a.jpg

And that's DEFINITELY overbanked. (There's one angle where it almost looks like an inversion, but it's not!)

DSC01232.jpg.82785fe3db35bf4163ac6528d6c02831.jpg

No use beating around the bush! Here's the Half-Half!

Continued!

(I hope no one squeezes in between the pictures this time!)

DSC01265.jpg.d26fb2989ff81e8bcf35d4fa62789471.jpg

There's still a lot of work yet to go. Good luck guys, and great job so far!

DSC01264.jpg.329d10762ea5a6f58b4133c283987d5c.jpg

Does anybody have any idea what these markings are for? They are under a low point in the track, so I'll be surprised if the queue or plants end up here.

DSC01263.jpg.fb52c9db73033110a675710b6298c421.jpg

So close, but yet so far.

DSC01262.jpg.8c10e6490c2a021baeefb6decd973bea.jpg

Ooh, it's dark in the station! The catwalk supports have been added to this portion of the track.

DSC01261.jpg.9c657a00795c762f691c1132aedda54a.jpg

OK, the Overbank just looks rediculous from up here! SO close to being an inversion. But it's not.

DSC01260.jpg.64e5457c262b6001e68a6ec7d21c5bee.jpg

That's a LONG, SHALLOW lift hill!

DSC01259.jpg.68439455e5e359e58d73653fc5f432d7.jpg

Stanley seems not to care that he's surrounded by the coils of the dreaded Eejanaika! Look out Stanley!
