And had the worst ride I've ever had on any Justice League (only the "Barrel" effect working, and the car didn't STOP in front of any screens - just kept moving.   we told the op she needed to call maintenance for a hard reboot.

Shocking!!!!  not...

By August... no effects and it will be a walk-through

JL was kind of funny actually. It was like it was in little old lady mode, just trolling along verrrry sloooow so no one got jostled or scared. Hopefully, a computer reboot got it up and working properly again. Bert and I had a fun few hours at the park though and the new menu at Fowl Ball was nice. The chicken tenders aren't new, although they were quite good, but they now have cheddar biscuits, peach cobbler, and coleslaw (which actually was more like a kale salad) all recommended.

On another note, I realize Tsunami Soaker is probably not reopening ever but it sure is going to look kind of sad sitting there dead all summer. Too bad it didn't work out and let's hope the body isn't there as long as the dead Hannabarrels were 🙄

Based on what a ride op at Mr. Freeze told me while waiting for maintenance to push the train back into the station, this will probably be JL's last year as it has the highest maintenance cost, lots of downtime, & its license expires at the end of this year.

Since it is no longer 3D, they should gut it and start over with something else.

I'm not surprised. I always thought SFSTL would do a shitty job of keeping the effects working. I wasn't alone.

People still love dark ride boat rides, like Monster Mansion. They're more and more unique. Refurbishing Scooby into something else could have possibly been less expensive and more reliable for the long haul. It wouldn't have to be a shooter and you can ditch the 42" height requirement for families. I preferred Castaway Kids much more. Keep it simple.

I fully understand why Six Flags tried the Justice League concept. It truly was something out of character for the company.

Unfortunately Six Flags preventative and ongoing maintenance budgets aren't compatible with the concept over the long haul.

I'm pretty sure the license expiring thing isn't an issue though. They'll renew the DC license if it is actually expiring next year.

yup. . ZERO chance they don't renew DC License. .. I"m sure for multi years - across the whole chain.

too much has been invested in the DCU, and some parks (Fiesta, SFOT, SFOG) have really incredible DCUniverse sections.

It's a bit interesting that in general Cedar Fair has been a fair bit less ambitious when it comes to dark rides. The Boo Blasters rides were all installed by Paramount, and outside of those there really aren't many dark rides at legacy Cedar Fair parks at all. Six Flags has had way more, with several parks having two or more dark rides. I do wonder what the future of dark rides is in the merged company.

Thanks for posting this! I saw it a couple days ago but thought if I was the one to post it, I would be accused of ulterior motives and WW3 might erupt 😉 Seriously though, I wonder if they are trying to have it ready to go for National Carousel Day on July 25th?

Went to the park on the evening of the 4th. We arrived about 5, spent the next 3 and a  half hours  leisurely riding and eating our way around the park. It was moderately crowded but we really didn't have an agenda other than hanging around until close for the fireworks so we really just did things we wanted to do. Most things were up and running. Log flume had water going on both sides but only the right open.....maybe they will have the left open over the weekend, I know it takes a lot of staff. Coasters that we rode all had two train ops. Supergirl down when we walked by but no idea if that was all day or what. Boomerang AND Fireball both operating which was not the case on either of my two previous visits this year. Tried to catch the new "show" on the train, I saw some of the actors while on MT but we rode it late in the day and it was no longer going, keep that in mind if that is important to you or someone in your party.

Landscaping: This has filled in nicely since I was there in May and they really have done a great job on the flowers and other seasonal plants this year. Palace gardens and area by JB's/JL in particular looked really good.

Justice League: It was no longer in old lady mode like it was 5 weeks ago but also not running exactly well. Screens all on and car stopping where it should, but no fire effects, no Joker effect and the guns were not firing accurately at all.

Spinsanity/Tsunami Soaker: This area was a bit dead. TS is of course not looking like it is coming back at all and Spinsanity was not fully assembled and looks to be down for an extended period.

Fireworks: A bit of a goof here. They started right on time but seemed to only last 5 minutes and then nothing so we started heading for the exit thinking wtf? Then just as we were going through the entrance plaza they started up again. About a 5 minute or so lapse. We then, with most of the other guests, watched from the area right in front of preferred parking and just outside the security checkpoint. The rest of the show was a good 15 minutes with a fabulous traditional grand finale. So, there must have been some sort of choreography or technical glitch. Would have been very nice if they had made an announcement to stay where you are the show will continue momentarily but I of course have no idea what caused the problem so maybe that wasn't possible.

Carousel: I swear I am just reporting the facts here 😉 Carousel has the inner 2 segments of horses installed and couple on the the 3rd segment. I cannot imagine it will take them more than a couple more weeks to get the rest installed. Now I have no idea if there are any mechanical/technical issues to address after installation but they are clearly getting close. They do have a corridor blocked off from the Old Glory to the carousel; I am sure that is to enable a secure pathway for the movement of said horses. So you are not currently able to go from there under Pandemonium to Bugs. The horses that I could see looked fabulous.

Curious that these two attractions and the Mooseburger Restuarant are closed this year, coincidental or is something afoot in this area?

Spinsanity has been open. It went down at some point AFTER opening so something seems to have gone bad. Tsunami Soaker was announced to be closed before the season even started. And Mooseburger has only been opening for events with food components (IE. Oktoberfest). If they move the food component of an event somewhere else OR don't have one at all then I'd be far more likely to say there's something going on. Using Mooseburger for themed food has been pretty consistent the last few seasons it would indeed be notable if they DIDN'T this season.

As for what should, might or might not be afoot - I'd build a new restaurant. I know, I've already said this before. Something akin to what Cedar Fair has been doing for a while now. Removing Mooseburger, the French bathroom and Tsunami Soaker gives you a nice area to build something new (but you can build a nice one even just using the Mooseburger footprint alone).

👍

It would be nice to see that area get some attention soon.  Not much happening on that side of the Park.

They could definitely open up some space there. Spinsanity could be moved, or rethemed for a new area, and if you got rid of the bathrooms, TS gift shop (and there are at least two other gift shop locations that have been closed), outpost snacks and possibly even the old Chevy show building, which I think has just been used for storage for several years now; there would definitely be room for a nice new themed restaurant which I think would be awesome.

Now if we are really playing the wish game and they got rid of Ninja, there would be room for a new restaurant and something else.

It would obliterate the last vestiges of that original themed area (I think it was Spain or France) but those are pretty much non existent anyway so I don't think anyone will care too much at this point.

Here at Six Flags Over Texas the closure of La Vibora and El Diablo was announced rather abruptly. Not long after it was announced that a "Record Breaking Dive Coaster" was coming. Since the merger SF doesn't seem to beat around the bush much. My guess would be that if SF is planning something in this area it would be pretty obvious.

I’d probably expect equipment to be removed from Mooseburger before the end of the season if it is going somewhere. If the windows get covered that’d be another sign something is happening inside. Right now you can just see it’s inactive.

IF. And yes this is a big if. They want to do something here it’s an established area of the park and it’s a lot of demo. They’d want to start that this year. Right now it’s just two things closed next to each other coincidentally in the same year.

All this 'future' talk reminds me that next year is Screamin Eagle's 50th Bday and I really hope it gets some attention during off-season.  I rode it in April and it was one of the worst rides I have ever gotten from it.  Disappointing for sure.   It felt like it had square wheels, worse than the Boss on a bad day.

That's so bizarre to me because every time I've ridden it this season I thought it's been running really well. I do almost always sit in a non-wheel seat, usually front row or second to last row. I know some people will poo poo that as nonsense but you can tell a difference. Just ask Bert about front row Voyage versus second row Voyage, lol.

I do agree that they need to do some work on it for the 50th, at least a good paint job for God's sake, and maybe some special merch?

Will be fun to see what, if anything, happens with the area in question. It has been announced that ACE CoasterCon in 2027 will be at SDC and SFSTL. Now some people assume that this means something new will be put in place by then. That is not necessarily true. ACE doesn't get secret phone calls about future plans, on the other hand it would be nice timing. I am sure the bigger draw for this pick is SDC which will have the new hotel and possibly a new water park, or some other attraction ready to go by then. They also take into consideration other area enhancements and the two new Vekoma coasters at Lake of the Ozarks will be good to go by then which will give attendees from far away a chance to ride them while traveling between the two parks.

I would say that 2027 is a strong possibility for SFSTL to finally receive a major investment from the new owners. So, what type of new attraction might be coming? Let's look at the possibilities.

First off....  Any type of Giga coaster would be highly unlikely. Gigas are rarely built anymore. The fact that Over Texas is getting one still seems like a dream, even though construction crews are hard at work building it as I type this. What's more, I don't see SFSTL recieving anything close to the $30 million plus investment needed to build such a coaster.

A hyper coaster? This would be a long shot for similar reasons, but WOULD be in the realm of possibility.

RMC Boss? I consider this a stronger possibility than the first two.

A smaller Dive Coaster such as Dr Diabolical or Iron Menace could easily fit into this park. It would also be budget friendly.

Something from Vekoma, Premier or S&S could also find its way into the park. It largely depends on how much money CF is willing to invest.

Telltale signs to look for going into next year are as follows......

Permanent ride closures. Some buildings and or restaurants could also be closed and removed. Construction fences would soon follow. These would be accompanied by signs reading "We're Building Excitement For 2027" or some such.

This is all based on what happened at Six Flags Over Texas when we found out we were getting a new "Record Breaking Dive Coaster".

Anyway, the next couple of years should be pretty exciting for SFSTL.
