They'd be harder to squirm out of I'd think. PS: Road Runner Express doesn't have a T-Bar. Dunno, but I'm not sure spending on that will be a priority since they do have RR. However, it will be super annoying for the parents that have kids briefly in the range of "they rode it last year and can't this year". I foresee some screaming Moms and crying kids. I feel bad for the ride ops because they'll take the brunt of that.
prozach626
So I guess 42" kids can still ride Screamin' Eagle. That's family friendly.

prozach626
Well worth the wait. Eve is almost five. I remember the very first time she and I rode, we... oh. wait.

So in other words, perfect timing, because she's old enough to remember riding with you at age 5 and will form a core memory! Unlike riding at age 2 or 3 and having no memory of it and then rolling her eyes at you when she's 13 and you show her a picture of the too young to remember ride trying to remind her of how cute she was then. Congratulations on the timing.
prozach626
That's dumb. She's known what a carousel is since she was probably 2. It would have been a nice memory for us, regardless of how long it lasted. Again, you're never going to convince me the closure isn't anything but hilarious.

Yes, a nice memory for you but she won't remember it. And again there are other carousels closer to where you live that you could have used. You are never going to convince me that despite claiming for a number of years now that you are mostly not that into this hobby anymore and disparaging theme park enthusiasts on a regular basis, the obsession you have with a carousel refurbishment is anything but hilarious.

liltrekkie
Remember when we just used to argue on whether corporate hated our park? Good times. They've put some good money into the park this year, looking forward to seeing how it looks in person.

SharkTums
Seriously, please stop fighting over a carousel at a six flags park. I'm not even going to read far enough back to see what this is about but don't talk about other peoples kids and everyone just move on to how dumb all the new height restrictions are.
Danrarbc
I get the new T-bar restraint height requirement increase. I just don't understand why the same height increase was done on Mine Trains that don't have T-bars like Fiesta's, that's where my complaint lies. 4 hours ago, bert425 said: I'm looking forwards to a visit soon. . . hopefully the Carousel will be open by the time I'm in the area next month. SteveStL
I read Tsunami Soaker will be SBNO all year, not that it had a decent history of being open anyway.

I don't think it ever opened in 2024 either. That'd be two years SBNO. Honestly I think that land would be better used if they tore it, the French restrooms and Mooseburger down and built a new restaurant. The new restaurant should be something like the Pavilion at CP, Lazy Bear Lodge in Canada or Miami River Brewhouse. It's more land than would be needed but it can open things up a bit and perhaps allows for some modifications to The Hill to make it easier to climb now that there isn't a restaurant there. It's a lot - but Cedar Fair IS pretty focused on elevating dining. Even at some less-loved parks like Dorney. The 3 restaurants I mentioned each sit on around 15k sq/ft. That would easily fit in this area in a bunch of ways.

It was never all that popular honestly. When it was hot most people was in hurricane harbor anyway. What we should do is we should bring back the water cannons on thunder river. Now those were fun
SteveStL
I always thought the ride would be better suited in HH anyway. It never fit in its current location. It was just crowbar'd in without any thought of theming to the area., which is a problem to the entire park I suppose.

I agree it is silly to keep arguing over the carousel. Point taken. But I'm sorry I must briefly address the "talking about other people's kids" issue as it implies I am speaking in a derogatory manner to or about an individual child and as someone who has been in education for over 30 years I cannot let that stand in a public forum. I was not giving any opinion on an individual child, I was simply stating factual information about child development to counter the poster's arguments. Also, if one does not want their child to be part of the conversation then they themselves should not use their child by name as the basis of their argument. That's it. I'll abide by the request. I hope this post doesn't get me banned because I like HEALTHY debate but I really feel I had no choice. Moving on now.

teacherkim
Yeah we were originally planning on going yesterday but then the rain out and had something else going on today. We plan on being there this coming Saturday so hopefully I can give a report on the Titan track issue on Boss. Unless someone on here was on it today? Website said it was open but I thought the operating temp was more like 52. There was already an angry FB post from a Dad that had a kid the was able to ride Eagle and MT last year and then couldn't this year and so of course tears and frustration. His main issue was that there was no notification to passholders and such. Frankly, he has a point. It would have helped immensely if he knew ahead of time. I feel bad for the ride ops on those rides too because they are going to take the brunt of the anger. My son said that CF always went above the manufacturer's recommended height so he's speculating that they are bringing the heights up to match the rest of the chain. He did say that SF ops are now doing IROC training which basically every other park does and previously they were they only major chain that did not. But, yeah the sudden height change is going to cause some issues.
bert425
my friend Maddie rode it today. . and she HATED the Titan Track. she said it was as intense as it always has been, except for the Titan Track portions, which was "awful". . but the rest was really good. now keep in mind, Maddie does tend to LOVE coasters that many people find really rough. so to each their own.

I'm a member of the Texas Junkies (a SFOT group) and there was a post today from a Mother who had the same issue in that her child had a meltdown in that he's been able to ride Runaway Mine Train in the past, but when they went for the first time this season, they discovered the height restriction had changed. I agree with your point that they should have put notifications (on their websites or maybe at the front gates) about the height changes. . . but, I mean, this happened at least a month ago, and they have been talking about it in the Junkies group. so the information has been out there - and yeah, it does seem they are adjusting to match CF requirements. but I dunno either.
prozach626
It's going to cause a lot of frustration and disappointment, but whatever. I guess kids will have to go ride in the front row of Screamin' Eagle instead.
