weemasterce Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Off subject but am i the only one that wishes either six flags in texas were to get a standup coaster or a flying coaster?I live between both parks in texas and yet to have experienced either type of coaster, due to the fact i never went to astroworldwhen it was open to ride batman the escape. Same here, I've been thinking the same thing for years. Do you think a standup or flying coaster would fit in the shopping mall area?
angrynerdjosh Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I heard a rumor that the shopping center would be a green lantern ride a few years back. Rumors... I went yesterday and it was 65° with mostly walk on rides. Absolutely amazing My phone won't post pics right now but only the vibora and runaway mountain had waits
MrHalfbreed Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Yeah, I've heard about that, hopefully not. I hope they go with expanding Gotham City with a new big coaster like a wing rider or floorless/standup. Its something SFOT really needs in my opinion.
Sportsdude360 Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Park security personel told me that SFOT has plans to build a wing rider. Whether that's true or not is up for debate.
weemasterce Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Park security personel told me that SFOT has plans to build a wing rider. Whether that's true or not is up for debate. Like Xflight?if so i hope its true cause it would be a great edition to the park.
RissaBooBissa Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Thinking about going to the park late this afternoon (around 3 or so). Any guesses as to how busy the park might be? It IS Cinco De Mayo... and the park closes at 7 I believe? AND there's a Rangers game. LOL! Haven't been to the park since January (even then, we didn't go on anything - it was so packed!)
chadster Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Depends on what time the Ranger's game starts. It'll clear nicely starting around 5pm
angrynerdjosh Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I was at the park the last two days and it was dead after 4pm. 3 should be fine. I was really surprised. Friday around 3 I counted around 20 people in line for the titan. If the rangers game ends around park closing time then plan for a 45 minute wait leaving. Last night took me an hour to get to 183 from the time I got in my car
chadster Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Not sure what part of the park you were in Friday at 4pm, but I've got the photos and time stamp showing Batman had about a 45 minute wait.
angrynerdjosh Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I was in line at runaway mountain which did take 40 minutes but that's to be expected. After that I went to kids area for an hour. Made it to Gotham after 6 and it was clear. Waited 2-3 trains for freeze
SFOverTexasFan Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Screamscape: "The early rumor from our Texas sources is that corporate may be dropping a little more coin on Fright Fest at Six Flags over Texas this year. More Scare Zones and possibly two new haunts to bring up the count to four, possibly located in the new Adventure Theater building as well as the old Studio 13 location near the Texas Sky Screamer. They may also be taking a lesson from the big haunts in California and Florida, and extending the run of Fright Fest to begin in mid September."
Mrlittle Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 two new haunts to bring up the count to four I read this last night on screamscape. I was confused because I thought there were 3 or 4 houses last year? I remember two of them were side by side in the old stunt show arena and 1 was near Yosemite Sam’s Gold River Adventure. Either way, it sounds great. I think SFOT could really benefit from a big Halloween event.
Sammy* Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Not sure if this has already been reported but Sky Screamers has started testing. The swings have been hanging not rotating about 300 ft up the tower.
angrynerdjosh Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 From 183 to 360 the skyskreamer looked impressive. In the park its still a giant. I took pics to show my friends but pics don't do it justice. I didn't see any testing this weekend. I guess its only when the park is closed. Any idea when freeze returns to normal? I'm not a RB fan.
boardwalkbullet91507 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 ^ I'm pretty sure that Reverse Blast is permanent. I kind of miss the forward-then-backward experience. I wish they would operate one side normal, the other reverse blast. I have it kind of envisioned in my head; Right when the queue line splits, there are two signs. "Mr. Freeze" on the left, "Me. Freeze: Reverse Blast" on the right... Oh, enough of the fantasizing. Besides that, SkyScreamer looks AMAZING! That thing is tall. That is going to provide a great ride experience! Perfect addition to the park skyline.
pitcher9 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Driving home from work, I noticed they were in the process of basic testing so I decided to stop by for a picture. I watched for about 15 minutes. They were just very very slowly raising the swing carriage to the very top of the tower, let it sit there for a while, then very very slowly brought it back down. No spinning or anything, which is to be expected during basic tests. But for now, enjoy the pic.
ernierocker Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 ^It isn't the parachute towers, but they did a good job of replacing the skyline. Looks great!
SFOverTexasFan Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 So I read on another form that Six Flags may be updating Looney Tunes USA. Has anyone else heard about this?
Sammy* Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 ^ no but the survey did ask about the next attraction and asked a lot about an iron man theme and a wooden coaster with a loop.
Great White Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 ^ no but the survey did ask about the next attraction and asked a lot about an iron man theme and a wooden coaster with a loop. I thought that Iron Man is from marvel, I Don't know if Something got changed around with Both D.C and Marvel, But if I remember Correctly, Six Flags host D.C Heros A Loop on a woodie sounds interesting, but what manufacture would pull it off?
Mrlittle Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I got a survey from SFOT. It asked about a alien attack dark ride. I have a good idea what that could be. Maybe there were a few different surveys out. It also asked what I disliked the most about SFOT. I said "Pink Things. Make them good again." No idea if they have changed them this year or not.
DarienLaker Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 A Loop on a woodie sounds interesting, but what manufacture would pull it off? Nobody would pull off another looping wooden coaster after what happened with Son of Beast at Kings Island resulting in the loss of the loop and leaving it for dead!
jfruge Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I could see RMC installing a loop, but not at Six Flags Over Texas. If we're talking about true woody loopers, I don't know if I trust anyone but RMC...
