RAWKIN_coaster38
There are always animal rights activists demanding this or that for captive marine mammals, but most of the time the activists get ignored. Could it be possible they're arranging to move her for a time to breed her with another orca then move her and the baby back? My personal biases aside...If they were seriously planning to get rid of her forever, it would prove costly. I can't see anything they do with that stadium equalling the popularity of the Shouka show. I do agree that Shouka should have a companion, but why take her away as the solution? There just has to be another way, or at least another side of this that we're not seeing.
gromithere
I am just wondering if they have already explored all of their other options and are getting pressure from elsewhere as well. I am not a fan of losing Shouka either, so I hope that there are some other ideas still out there for them to explore.

RAWKIN_coaster38
Found this too. It's a guy who visited in '08 and wrote APHIS about the violations he saw. It is very sad that SFDK doesn't take better care with this (I've noticed the grimy water a few times too). Grimy water and unshaded pools should be a fairly easy fix, I'd believe. I don't know why SFDK wouldn't correct that. I can understand that Shouka not having a companion is a more complicated issue but Merlin and Shouka did well together for 7 years according to what I've read... I even heard there was a UC Davis group of students who were studying Shouka's and Merlin's relationship. I don't know why there was a "compatibility issue," but couldn't SFDK find another dolphin to accompany Shouka until a better solution was forged? Like I said... if they were to move her, I'd hope it would be so they could expand the tank, or do some important tweaks on it to make it more livable for her. I don't know why they would want to move her for good.
gromithere
So, do people generally go clean the ocean every few days? Just sayin. Lol. It's also worth noting that that if Shouka were sent back to France (or Canada as one of the articles stated), that she would likely not be protected by the same standards US parks are held to. I noted that too. I'm wondering if that's why SFDK was considering Canada... if sending her there for a time allowed them more leniency so they could get her back easier. The woman that started the petition looked dreadful. Pun intended?

RAWKIN_coaster38
More Superman progress pics! Hopefully this satisfies your need-to-know progress for today! Lots of wiring and tunnel work, and if you're here in the park Saturday or Sunday, work will be going on all weekend long! SFDK Facebook

RAWKIN_coaster38
^^Wow! That's great to see! Those pictures kinda look surreal too... either that or it's time for me to go to bed, cause my eyes are tweaking. And yes, noticed the yellow rails too. From Screamscape Re: SFGAdv: (5/21/12) Screamscape sources tell us that the old Dolphin Show at Six Flags Great Adventure has been removed from the park’s current entertainment lineup and replaced by Splashtacular, a show that only mentions Sea Lions. From what I’m told one of the park’s two dolphins (Cody) passed away in late April, and is now making plans to send their one surviving dolphin (Avalon) to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom instead. If this is true, then I believe that will make SFDK the only park in the chain to have dolphins. Maybe they'll make this one a companion for Shouka. XYZ
I'm hoping that they are going to make the coaster look good with some track having yellow rails and some track having none because it looks very strange.

Maybe just the non-inverting loop will have yellow rails, and they'll fade it in. I could see that looking SICK.
