Midgetman82 Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I'd really like for parks to start lighting their park, and LED's seem like they do a pretty good job at them. Maybe not overly illuminating every crack and crevice of the park, but maybe give something pretty to look at like only illuminating rides (or just the taller ones so you can see them from a distance).
flotus Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I really don't care what kind of lighting is used on rides or midways, so long as it helps the place look good and appealing. This! LEDs are cheaper over the long run, but some good lighting can also be done without / before them. My favorite: Oktoberfest at night: (pics from wikipedia) From 16:37 to 17:23. Make sure to enable HD. Some more pics at 15:07 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfqRUWFlt20
KPfan Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I don't like the ultra vibrant LEDs. Just too much pop for me. Overall, I do like the new lighting packages on Ferris wheels and such. For more traditional parks and rides, I prefer the warmth of incandescent lighting. If they can make LEDs deliver a similar appearance I'd love it. I have the same peeves with Christmas lights. Still a fan of the old C9s.
Moose Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I'm slowly changing the lightbulbs in my home to LEDs to be more efficient and I am all for parks doing the same.
glucky11801 Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I'm slowly changing the lightbulbs in my home to LEDs to be more efficient and I am all for parks doing the same. Good for you! I have completely changed over to LED's in every light that I use on a daily basis. Now that the prices have come down so much, It's easy to do. Saving energy/money = WIN!!!
DonGeorge Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I have the same peeves with Christmas lights. Interestingly, when I rode Medusa West in June, the lift hill had christmas lights on it.
Myself Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 (edited) Kennywood's Bayern Kurve is quite the eye-killer as well... You don't like the lights on the Kurve? To each their own, but you're the only person I've heard not to like them. It might be a personal bias towards my home park but I think they look great. As far as LEDs go...here's my favorites. -Kennywood's Bayern Kurve (as mentioned above), Volcano, and Paratrooper as of last summer -Stratofear at Knoebels/X-Scream at Waldameer -Giant Wheel at Cedar Point Edited November 7, 2014 by Myself
TPDave Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 I think the LEDs around Toy Story at DisneySEA are amazing!!
Midgetman82 Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 ^^^I seriously wish more ferris wheels did that. I could sit there and watch that all night.
hey...hey Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 I am surprised Windseeker's lighting package hasn't come up...
Myself Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 ^I honestly forgot about those! KD's Windseeker was down when I visited, but I was quite impressed with the lighting on the ones at CP and KI.
CanobieFan Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Lightning Racer, Comet, and Wildcat have amazing chaser lights around their entire course. Usually very few to none are burnt out. Makes my sadness of leaving worthwhile for awesome pictures of the rides.

Funland in Rehoboth Beach got them a few years ago.
