I was just thinking...I'm always going to parks but very rarely documenting my exploits. Once upon a time I use to rush home to post trip reports but over time...that kinda went away. Now I'm back! Ok enough of that...on to the first park, kentucky kingdom. I really wanted to get to this park in its six flags hay-day. But, unfortunetly, that didn't happen. Needless to say I was excited to see it return.I'm here a little early so I decided to do some snooping around the park perimeter... I wonder when this one is gonna be ready... I'm surprised how accessible the park is to the surrounding area! I guess I'm use to go to secluded parks off the interstate... Yeah...its gonna take some TLC to get it back in shape... I would have loved to see chang still standing here...this is where it was right? Well...be back later once the park opens...in the mean time I'll get this nice employee to take a shot for me (its kinda over casty out here) Edited July 18, 2017 by jarmor
jarmor
Yeaaaayyyy...made it in the park... First impression...nice little family park! Surprisingly its very empty and I like that! I took yu guys advise and went directly to the water park...I felt like I was the only one here! First things first...the stupidly tall,121 ft, trap floor drop slide. The only one I have done is vanish point at water country, and that drop pales in comparison to this one...but I but on my big boy britches and did it! I actually liked it better than vanish point! Since its still empty I went ahead and did new slide tower with the mini tornado, the bowl and the constrictor?? Slides. The time has come to do deluge. I heard nothing but good things about this ride and man, was it a total blast! Since I'm here alone, it was lucky enough to get a group to allow me to join in. This thing has more airtime than some coasters! Yep...still dead... I didn't bother with the tornado...the riders were few and far in between and I didn't wanna really bug someone to let me tag along... Well, I'm about to go marathon on the old tube slides...pretty much a walk on for all 4 of them! Any photo request let me know...
jarmor
Ok...I've pretty much done all I can in the water park...guess I'll go take some photos from the slide towers... Why don't more parks have these!!! The park has its work cut out with twisted twins.... If it turns out as good as thunder run then hats off to whoever is responsible! Speaking of thunder run...it runs pretty dang good! Reminds me of hurler but with more twist! Now...why on earth do people do this? If I were the park, I would find them and charge them with vandalism! Anyway...I'm off to the front of the park to finally experience lightning run! jarmor
Lightning run...WOW! OMFin'G wow! 10 times I experienced what one would call ejector air...I really liked it...I actually got off and got right back in line to make sure I wasn't tripping! Hands down its the best was possible to say "we're back"! It just look sooo tiny...but don't let that fool ya... I'm completely blown away...I know I know...I've read the reviews but I just didn't believe it but I am def a believer now! Thais it for me today! Overall I really liked the park. With only two coaster right now I wouldn't say its a great value...but...the water park makes up for it! Wish six flags didn't take chang from the park... sfkk
Nice pictures and I am glad you enjoyed the park. They certainly put a lot of effort into it, so I am glad to see that it is paying off.
jarmor
Thanks guys...I really had a great time. I've never been to such a quaint park with soooo much to do. The layout seemed kinda awkward ar first but it really flows. It looks like the water park and dry park mesh but its seamless in its seperation. I wish I had to see it during its hey day...I did manage to find an old relic from the past... Stay tuned...for tomorrow is a new day (and a new park! sfkk
That is a pretty cool find! But the way I see it, the 90's and now are the hey-day. For the first time (besides twisted twins) we have a truly special and different coaster that you cannot find anywhere else. The park is doing very well financially, and there are big plans for the future. I cant wait to see the park in a few years, especially with this little Midwest rivalry going on with Holiday World and Kings Island.

jarmor
New day, new park (yaaaaay). Today I venture to kings island to take on banshee...and to see what diamondback is all about...I've been on all the beemer hyper except it and raging bull so were gonna see! Doesnt look too busy yet... But first...some character shots! Finally made it after 10 years of planning! Well...I'm off to ride banshee!
jarmor
Ok I. Back and I bring with me renewed faith in B&M! While its not top burn forceful it does pack a punch! I was able to get two rides in...front and back...before it got crowded! Not much of a line...for now For some reason the back seat has a very noticeable rattle that I hope gets lessen in the future. How about some pictures to enjoy... R.I.P Moved on over to top bat! My first arrow suspended! For some reason, I thought it had two lifts... I liked it...it was a tad bit rough but nothing un bearable... Weeeeeeee... Can't wait to ride another arrow suspended! So long bat...time to take a little detour... tarheel1231
I'm loving this report! Good to hear about Lightning Run and Banshee. Seems like the Midwest has all the glory this year. BUT NEXT YEAR, IT SHALL BE THE SOUTHEAST'S! MUHAHAHA!
Philrad71
Interesting....like the up-to-date reports! I also noticed the rattle on Banshee in the back row. After riding it in the morning and night during ERT at BB, it seemed like it just depended on what seat that I sat in, which seemed a bit strange. Here is what I noticed during ERT... * Back seat left (which the ride op said told me was the best seat other than the front row right) - it rattled quite a bit and other than the first drop, I didn't care for it. * Front row right seat - awesome & very smooth. * Front row 2nd seat from the left - just as good as the front right seat. * Second from the back - 2nd seat from the left...very little rattle - good ride. * 2nd row left seat - smooth ride. * One of the middle rows far right seat - a little bit of rattle, but not as bad as the back seat. jarmor
Aaaannnnddddd we're back! Time flys when you're having fun! So I took a slight detour back stage... I hear he's a pretty big deal... I wouldn't mind taking it for a spin... So yeah...we're here finalizing 2015...hahaha I kid, I kid...speaking of kids, I entered the park back by the snoopy area and it was a perfect opportunity for more character shots... One of my highlights of this trip was to experience diamondback for myself... I hate to say this, being csrowinds is considered my home park, but this was better than intimidator! Possibly for still having a roller coaster after the mcbr. Now, all I have to do is get raging bull under my belt then I've conquered all the beamer hypers in america... Enjoy some shots of this great coaster... Next up...the beast. I always read online how its a shell of itself, trimmed to death and rough so I had mix feelings going into this one. First of all...it carried the longest line in the park so the popularity is definetly there. My "tour guide" told me how the section just out of the station was actually filled with water some time ago. While in line decided to snap some shots...mostly of vortex since that's all I could see... Now came time to ride... Wow! If the ride is half performing then I can imagine what it was like back in the day. I always set in the second row on three row cars. I really hated all those trims throughout the course but for it to be as old as it is it still packs a punch. I will def miss the beast... Since I spent an hour staring at vortex I might as well ride it...something is missing??? That's it! All better now! They kinda look happy right...I mean, the girl in the back is waving at me... Yeah...its kinda bad. Rideable...but not that great. Yeah...I'm gonna pass on windseeker. Done one...done them all... Decided to pass on firehawk... Aside from the fact that its been up and down all day I don't really have a desire to ride it. Yeah, I would have completed the vekoma flyer collection but nah... Yep...its down. After a spin on racer and adventure express (talk about an anti-climatic ending) its time for a ride up the effiel tower for some aerials. Ever since I was a kid I always was enthralled with kings island aerials. Well I've finally gotten the chance to take my own! Now that over...it was time to check out the cirque imagination show. But before the show start here is some live entertainment. For a theme park show it was really good! I would absolutely see it again if I were in the park... Well that's it for today...let's see where tomorrow takes me!
scottiemon
I am really enjoying your TR. I was at KI in the 70's, when I was a teen, but have not been since. You are really making me itch for a return trip, along with a trip to CP as well. Thanks.
jarmor
^ a trip to kings islands paoired with cedar point you say...hmmm you might be on to something! Interesting....like the up-to-date reports! I also noticed the rattle on Banshee in the back row. I was in the last car left seat...I was quite puzzled! Totally different from the front seat...
rcjp
I hate to say this, being csrowinds is considered my home park, but this was better than intimidator! Possibly for still having a roller coaster after the mcbr. I know what it feels like. Portaventura is a park that, even though not very close, I can reach by car and one of the reasons why I didn't enjoy shambhala as much as Nitro at SFGAdv was precisely because it doesn't really do much after the MCBR. I feel some new B&Ms have been suffering from this problem.

jarmor
^ that's what "they" say hahaha...I'm leaning toward yes. After reading your comment about Diamondback, I'm wondering if I'm denying if Goliath at SFOG is better than Intimidator I dunno about goliath. I do enjoy the helix but wouldn't rank it higher than intimidator...
Hilltopper39
Nice report man, glad to see Kentucky Kingdom open and thriving again. Being from Kentucky that and Kings Island were always my "home parks" so it's nice to see this place having some success. Between Lightning Run, Banshee, and Thunderbird there are some pretty significant major new attractions in that area that I'm excited about make a trip to sometime soon!
