gisco Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 (edited) Article A ride at Adventure City in Anaheim flipped over, causing a father and his two young children to fall out of the ride. It happened on a plane ride at the family amusement park, according to ABC 7. A 4-year-old was taken to the hospital just as a precaution. Investigators are trying to figure out what caused the plane to turn over. But witnesses told ABC 7 that the mechanics were trying to right the plane, even before paramedics and police got to the scene. Edited August 8, 2012 by gisco
beatle11 Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 But witnesses told ABC 7 that the mechanics were trying to right the plane, even before paramedics and police got to the scene. That sounds a bit fishy to me. Fortunately, it seems as no one is seriously injured.
Jew Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 ^It's also illegal based on California law. Have to preserve the scene in the event of a "major mechanical failure."
cfc Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I imagine that's illegal in most states--like altering a crime scene.
ECZenith Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I'm glad no one was seriously hurt. Disappointing to hear the mechanics tried to right the passenger cabin before it could be inspected, especially in such a public manner. It could only make things worse.
Stitch_101 Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 It may be sad to say, but I live in SoCal and never even knew this place existed. I'm glad no one was hurt, but seriously, what were they thinking immediately goin to work on the ride after the accident?!?! I smell trouble brewin for them.
gisco Posted August 10, 2012 Author Posted August 10, 2012 This place is still open??? Needs to stay open a while longer so I can get the credit!
ECZenith Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I drove past this place at least once a week when I lived in Anaheim. I believe the park had a policy where you had to enter with a small child. I went to grab the mouse credit one day but was denied... so went down the street to Knott's for some Xceleration.
Jew Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 ^I don't think that is the case considering they offer coaster club discounts. I was able to get the credits with Dan with no problems.
kidcoaster 2 Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 ^I don't think that is the case considering they offer coaster club discounts. I was able to get the credits with Dan with no problems. I am pretty sure that if you are a card carrying member of a coaster club they will let you in... but if not you have to have a kid.
buckaroo234 Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 i pass this on my jog to knotts. I really do want to get the mouse credit. Need to verifiy with RD and Chadster the validity of the 'must have a chirren to get in"
The Bebes Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 The Bebes got in without a child or any hassle, though we did get a strange staredown at the ticketbooth : "2 adult tickets please".
ahecht Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 I got in several years ago by saying that I was meeting the rest of my family inside.
caffeine_demon Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I got in several years ago by saying that I was meeting the rest of my family inside. Oooh - you are naughty!! Seriously though - I hate parks and rides with rules like that - there aren't many of us sad enough to want kiddie creds!!
chadster Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 In February if you showed your club card you got in for free to ride the coasters.
ILoveRides Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Spears and I got in without any problem a few years ago. They even gave us a discount since we were enthusiasts. We actually enjoyed the park. It's clearly aimed at kids, but still, it was fun. I think the TR I did from this park may have been my first one ever. (It's the one where the manly pose was invented!) Anyhow, here's a pic of me on the planes from that day. If my memory serves me correctly, there wasn't a weight or height limit.
SharkTums Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Scary that this plane ride that is found at EVERY park in the world could have such a catastrophic failure.
cal1br3tto Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 I'm not sure if child-required policies still come into play sporadically, but I think it's clear the park "gets" enthusiasts. I got in once with no problem without even directly sharing my coaster enthusiasm (though it was during WCB so they may have suspected), and was treated very kindly. It's quite the adorable park. Shame about the incident.
