simon8899 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 I haven't found an Intamin Mega that isn't fun....
gisco Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 I like the wheel off the track! Those are awesome rides. I don't understand why they don't build one in the US.
Hhappy Posted October 9, 2012 Author Posted October 9, 2012 I'll add one more from the same ride & park because it's just awesome
SharkTums Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Ugh, it just annoys me seeing these awesome pictures of Megalites and knowing that I have to travel to Asia or Europe for one!!!!
cfc Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 ^Same. I wonder why U.S. parks haven't given these a shot. Hell, spinning mouse coasters, Boomerangs, and Eurofighters have sprouted like weeds in this country.
CoasterKings908 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 ^Same. I wonder why U.S. parks haven't given these a shot. Hell, spinning mouse coasters, Boomerangs, and Eurofighters have sprouted like weeds in this country. I think I can explain. Just like our serving sizes, everything we have needs to be huge in size.
SoCalCoasters Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 ^I don't think that's the case. Looks at smaller regional parks. We don't have any mega lites because no US park has ordered one. For one reason or another, parks have found other ride options to more suit their interests. Plus, aren't Mega-Lites a bit on the expensive side when compared to Eurofighters or Boomerangs? That is also an important factor to consider.
rctneil Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 This was my first ever Mega-Lite and absolutely loved it, nice speed, incredible airtime, compact layout, fast lifthill, great ride. You can't really say anything bad about them at all. I think I rode this one between 10-14 times during the day and would have ridden it more if I could!
thestripedtaco Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I also think that for such a modest height these rides take up quite a bit of room. Certainly a possible factor for them not being ordered more in the US.
SharkTums Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 ^Really? I mean, their footprint is pretty small. Don't think it's any bigger than an SLC or something.
cfc Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 ^I agree. Mega Lites can give a park a "big" ride for a small space.
thestripedtaco Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Oh ok I guess I was wrong. I was told on another forum that a mega-lite takes up a lot of space for it's size. Guess I should have just stuck with my initial impressions and research on them.
Hhappy Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 How about a looping Toboggan?? still can't believe somebody thought this was a "good" idea lots and lots of fun though (when not riding) and the extra padding while riding made it even more awesome
cfc Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 ^Stacey's lucky because she can't see what's going on.
Meteornotes Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 This is just such a bad idea. I cannot believe anyone ever looked at a Toboggan and said "that would be so much better with a loop in it". dt
UrbanLegend Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 The badness in these photos transcends time and space. You actually need head padding? Unbelievable.
cfc Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 ^The head padding was "optional," if you knew how to say "no thank you" in Chinese (as Elissa found out).
SoCalCoasters Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Is that ride company's name actually..... " Credible" ?
Moose Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 I'm not sure what was scariest at this park, this death trap, selling used soda, or a carney shooting an arrow towards us!
JK Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 My head protection popped off of my head when the car engaged the lift hill due to my large head size. I placed the head protection between my knees so I could still hold on with both hands. I was first to ride and it was not until the coaster approached the loop that I suddenly wondered if the head protection was actually required and let my feelings known.... Great photos as always. - James
