After writing a Unix shell script to set permissions across a series of files, I got my computer up and running again! Now I can go to bed at a decent hour... like now!

EDIT: Now this weekend can now be devoted to overclocking my PC like I was supposed to do months ago!

1. As my upcoming weekend geek project, I'm replacing the logic board, hard drive and dvd burner on my old powerbook. This way I'll have a laptop just to check my email and do book edits when I out of town.

2. I found out that I may be working the talent area for this years White Party again. Don't know who is headlining, but I'll probably be escorting him/her around. The director said at the volunteer appreciation a few months back that I was one of their best volunteers, which made me feel good. I'm just glad I can help out when I can. I just need to get my outfit for this year made!

A bowl of fresh California strawberries sitting just to my left as I write this.

P.S. And they're all for me since no one else in this house eats 'em!

David (Jynx242) and I carpooled today because the trannie in our Blazer is kaput. I re-realized just how lucky I am to have someone in my life that cares so much even when I'm being an unconscionable bitch.

In my "Geek Weekend, part 2", I replaced the bad logic board on my Powerbook G4 with one from ebay. I also replaced the burner with a DVD Dual layer and replace a broken key. I also upgraded the OS to Leopard. I'm typing on the laptop right now. So now I can type from the coffee table or go out of town and have a laptop without depending on others that say they are going to bring theirs and drop out and leave you hanging...

Granted it's not as good as getting a Macbook Pro, but now I can save up for a nice 17 inch. This is good enough for listening to music and surfing the internet.

Now I have to get a bigger hard drive and replace the pram battery.

I'm just happy I don't have to trash this laptop!

I now live in the DFW area (well...Arlington) and am attending the University of Texas at Arlington and am having a lot of fun!

It's nice to have a friend that's a doctor! You need something, skip the office visit or calling the office numerous times trying to catch them! Of course, I gotta barter computer services for prescription allergy medicine, but at least I got it and the antibiotics so I won't be sick as a dog on Labor Day.

Yeah, I do the same thing with my aunt. Office visits are for chumps. In a few years, I'll be able to write for myself!
