Hhappy
This summer was a blast for me. Had an amazing time with a great group of people. The following will be an attempt to present some of the pictures i took during this trip and hopefully show a part of the fun i had. I had been to some of the parks on a previous trip and some were totally new to me. Benefit of these second visits was more time to chill and relax at these places. It is so much fun chilling at a park with an awesome group of people. Enough rambling for the moment, it's time for some pictures. Here's the update index: Day 1: Carowinds (scroll down) Day 2: Dollywood Day 3: Ober Gatlinburg Day 3: Pigeon Forge: Speedpark and Jurrassic Boat Ride Day 3: Pigeon Forge: Zorbing Day 4: travel day (no pictures) Day 5: Busch Gardens Williamsburg Day 6: Kings Dominion (East Coast Bash) Carowinds, a new park for me and my encounter with the first Intimidator of this trip. New credits to score, pictures to get and fun to be had.. darn it.. busy day.. Now this is a view i don't mind waking up to looks like fun owh yeah, the park is called Carowinds and the waterpark will be closed... entrance area.. looks similar to plenty of other parks (i think) the infamous sign... first stop of the day how's it going birdie?? happy riders on the front row.. roll, flip call it whatever you want.. it's fun no worries TP, i see you not sure what's happning front row... that good of a ride?? hmmmm upside down so many opportunities to get some decent pictures.. Afterburn, thanks for the ride next stop turnaround boo blasters building yeah.. rode it once... it looks so pretty... much needed refreshing point.. juke box diner (and hurler) First drop fun.. do i need to add any words to this?? and yes.. there were some interesting buildings out there as well free tv?? ehm.. Hooligans?? i'm guess it means something else then in the UK/Europe?? sorry, no train.. but still pretty cool guess i'll have to come back to get this credit... lots of steel, wished they cleaned the glass a bit more.. dark clouds.. ok, something totally different.. now would she be like: let me check if everything is still there or would she be checking if she's still female?? not sure... as seen from the food area.. tour time the other side of the station 69 dude, 69... underneath the trains and the guests waiting in line.. different view ok, who let TPFail in there?? owh wait.. everybody is checking out the inside.. geek paradise.. see? back outside, there's still more to see going up... stop?? why?? the ride is way too much fun trying to be artsy random people having fun.. hair and airtime Cannonball down the first drop.. spot the TPR members.. looks like they are having fun more random people ladies.. all the ladies.. curvy.. it looks so big.. fun (and first time surprising) part of the ride heading for the turnaround.. a picture a gazillion people have.. just some random people having fun on the first drop.. cfc
I think "Hooligans" used to be a Scooby-Doo shop. Hanno, you certainly snagged some interesting shots, as usual--particularly the girl checking herself out in the parking lot.
jjune4991
Haha, great TR! You definitely are the unofficial official photo taker!! Love the few shots you got of me on a coaster. Never seen that view of me before.

Lenaapple1974
Hanno - AWESOME as ALWAYS!! OK, so I have two questions for you. Do you ever find yourself limited on the people pictures with your lens, or do you carry another? I have tried to use my 70-300 in various situations and just found myself switching back to my 18-135 b/c of the versatility. I usually just keep it to the one lens, or my P&S. BUT, I never bring my D90 into parks, just my D40X b/c I am scared someone will take it! Plus, the D40x fits into my fanny pack, well, two (one worn by me, and the other my dtr) They are not responsible after all for the stuff you leave behind...so I try not to leave it. What do you do with it when you are on the ride? I guess you ride with so many TPR people though... usually it is just myself, and a few others and we ride at the same time. Again, grrreeat photos! Cannot wait for more!

Cannot wait for more! Thanks for the comments, Here's an answer to your questions. I walk around with a slingshot bag. This fits my main camera with 18-105 lens on it, a 70-300 lens and some extra stuff (like video camera, batteries, memory cards, sunblock, wallet etc etc etc) I usually have the 18-105 on the camera and if i see a good spot for taking coaster pictures i'll put on the 70-300. The size of the bag makes it possible to fit in those nice things you sometimes have to pay for at the stations, so no worries there when riding. If these are not available i'l just leave the bag at the side of the station (with all the other bags) or in a bin when available. It's got a big nametag and i hope/feel most people are in a park to have fun.. and not.. a well.. anyway.. i'm not worried about leaving the bag while riding (and i do have some decent tarvel insurance (i think)) hope this helps and answers your questions. bgwfreak777
Outstanding pics. You must have a really high quality zoom. Just in case you like history, that building was one of the stations for the sky ride (cable car ride) that has long since left the park. The other station was where Joe Cool Cafe is now today to give some perspective on how it went across the park. Glad you enjoyed Intimidator, I always love to hear new visitors to the park's perspective on it as I've been going to the park since (literally) the ripe old age of 1. Velcro
I love pictures like this that show the facial expressions of those riding. I loved all the photos that were taken, but I agree with Robb that this is the best photo.
alilstronger
WOW that intimidator looks a whole lot more fun then the one at KD. Seems like a nice park over all. Will have to plan a few days down there next summer.

Hhappy
WOW that intimidator looks a whole lot more fun then the one at KD. No. Benefit of this one is that it was easier to get pictures of.. where as the the one at KD did not have that many opportunities.. to me.. the kD was way more fun (i like intense) if i want to float around.. i could ride this all day long.. but i don't want to float around.. It felt like a bigger Behemoth or even a bit like Silver Star.. so to sum it up.. i have to agree with Elissa

Skycoastin Steve
Great job with the trip report! It was fun getting to meet the famous Hanno and taking a spin on Intimidator with you. jason10
What a nice report! Made extra special by seeing myself in a few of the pictures. Interesting perspective and one which I haven't seen of myself before. There were some really nice shots in there!
medic738
Just had my first rides on Intimidator this weekend while at the ACE event there. While I think I305 is a better ride, I found the Carowinds Intimidator to be a really fun ride with lots of air time. It was a great ride. Carowinds had a very nice selection of rides - more of a variety in coasters than in flats. I had a great time there.
bgwfreak777
I'm sure Hanno is wondering how his PTR turned into another debate about which Intimidator is better. i232 obviously is. Fanboy? Me?
