coasterbill Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Some very credible sources at Great Adventure History are saying that the Holiday in the Park hours will generally be 1pm to 9pm, allowing them to get the coasters going at the warmest time of the day. If it's anything like Dollywood it needs to be 40 degrees to start the coasters and then they can run them until it gets down to 35... but that would be a new policy for Great Adventure as they are usually WAY more lenient than that. The coasters will probably close after the sun goes down in most cases due to temps but that's fine with me. Then it's all about the lights (and we still have Skull Mountain and Dark Knight).
boldikus Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Hey guys!I might be attending the park tomorrow, and I have never been on opening day before. Are the lines usually long on opening days? And, will any of the coasters be closed? With the weather tomorrow, I'm not even sure if the drive down is worth it with the high chance of rain and lightning though. With the weather today the park is probably dead. I'm pretty jealous I'm sitting here at work. Everything will run unless its lightning (except Kingda Ka - rain hitting your face at 130mph is apparently not fun). Take a poncho and have a blast.

I even started a new job in Delaware this week (as opposed to my last one in Cherry Hill right by my apartment), so even if we do get out early for Good Friday, there's no chance of driving up to the park for a couple hours like in previous years. Going Sunday, though, so that'll help.
Swede Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Does anyone know if they have any vegan food at SFGAdv? I understand that SFMM has it after searching the forum but I couldn't see anything about it in this thread.
gp1086 Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Do they usually have the park fully running (i.e. all food open, shows, characters, etc) on opening day?
coasterbill Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 No, but all rides should be open except the flume and probably the rapids. Many shows will still be in "rehearsal" which for any show involving animals means they'll be far more entertaining than they will be later in the year because the animals won't listen to anything the trainers tell them to do and it'll be a complete train wreck... but in a fun way.

New Jersey and California are very different in that respect lol. Some things of note I've seen online from folks at the park today: - Fort Independence is closed. - Flash Pass building got new paint. - Nitro trains are refurbished with brand new wheels - El Diablo land clearing is underway, parts are on site, no vertical construction. - Something is happening in Old Country.

Not the ones you get at McDonalds anyway (they are vegan in Europe but not in the U.S.) so I have my doubts about other fast-food outlets too, unless, they chop up the potatoes in the restaurant. McDonalds french fries isn't even vegetarian in the U.S. http://www.ijreview.com/2015/01/237153-19-ingredients-mcdonalds-uses-make-iconic-french-fry-revealed/ Edited April 3, 2015 by Swede
EastCoastKid Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 - Something is happening in Old Country. Is 'Old Country' the section of the park that's currently closed by Movietown? If so, interesting.......
boldikus Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 ^ yes edt: just saw that Ka is operating in the rain. Yes, you read that correctly. - Nitro is operating all 3 trains, Toro is operating one. - Repainted Rolling Thunder trains spotted near the RT track that is still there under Toro. Can you guys tell that there's nothing to do at work today and that I wish I were somewhere else? lol Here's some photos I stole from random GAdv FB groups, hope its cool to repost them here. Rolling Thunder trains: El Diablo construction Flash Pass building paintjob: Closed Fort Independence (word on the street is its closed FOR GOOD. let the speculation begin!) Refurbished Nitro trains with new wheels
Mega_Coaster_77 Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Currently at the park. Light rain right now. Crowds are pretty low. Saw barely anyone on sky screamer as I walked in
michaellynn4 Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Any word on what path reopened that Ryan was hinting towards a few weeks back?
larrygator Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Any word on what path reopened that Ryan was hinting towards a few weeks back? I believe that is the "something happening in Old Country"
boldikus Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 More RT trains spotted today: "something" going on Old Country, tho the picture doesn't really tell us what. Again, these are not my pictures. I'm sitting in my office in rainy South Philly. These are all taken from SFGAdv Online's FB page and the Six Flags Great Adventure Connoisseurs FB group page.
coasterbill Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Please don't put those trains on the Rolling Thunder track... please don't. I'm begging you. No.
boldikus Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Please don't put those trains on the Rolling Thunder track... please don't. I'm begging you. No. LOL why not? I like the idea of the RT memorial there.
coasterbill Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 lol I don't know I just don't get it. I'd much rather they just get rid of it and call it a day, or move it somewhere else maybe but I just think it looks ridiculous in it's current state. I don't care that much though, at least now it looks like they left it there for a reason and weren't just being lazy. Those trains are going to look like death in a few years though if they just leave them on that track.

How can anyone complain right now when construction has begun on the parks newest thrilling Coaster!? This thing is gonna be dope!
coasterbill Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I'm not really complaining, just confused because this idea is ridiculous. lol

ThemeParkJunkie51290 Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Yep. It's official. A 2016 coaster is coming for sure. If not a coaster a new attraction for sure.
Coasterguy21 Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Yep. It's official. A 2016 coaster is coming for sure. If not a coaster a new attraction for sure. The contradiction is strong with this one! (even though technically a coaster is a new attraction) Construction is still on-going on the parks present new coaster...El Diablo All jokes aside, El Diablo is still being built (and will still be marketed as a coaster). As for whatever else is going on "construction wise". The rumors will continue to fly.
