Skycoastin Steve
It is crazy that walking through Congo it is very hard to see especially with the trees full. I still think its hilarious they put a NASCAR ride in the jungle-themed area. Cedar Fail! That area of the park was Congo themed well before Cedar Fair took over. Cedar Fair bashing fail, as usual. So they couldn't continue with the Congo theme after they took over the park? Just because they didn't put in the Congo theme themselves doesn't mean that they can't continue with the theme of the area.

No, but a small midget in Africa dies every time some moron on here blames them for something they had nothing to do with. I'm just doing it for the midgets. Hercules
^ But they did have something to do with putting a NASCAR themed ride in an area that it doesnt' really fit in with. I'm not too serious about this argument, but just playing devil's advocate. Screw the midgets.

Skycoastin Steve
^I think Paramount created the disaster that is the Congo "themed" area, especially considering Avalanche, Italian Job, and Flight of Fear were also already there. They also created a themed area for the actual coaster, which I think nullifies the whole Congo thing at least for I305. And just for the record, I was defending Cedar Fair last year when I had no affiliation with them whatsoever.

CPmaverick
I would say FoF arguably has its own little area. Now its "Fort Kinzel", I can't remember its name under Paramount. Fort Cooper
cfc
^The audio track they play in the outside queue still refers to it as "Fort Cooper." Well, cheaper to change a sign than the audio, I guess. EDIT: People posting in this thread need to cool off a bit. Thank you. Edited May 27, 2010 by cfc
robbalvey
No, but a small midget in Africa dies every time some moron on here blames them for something they had nothing to do with. Learn how to take a joke, especially regarding Cedar Fair. And I'd rather you not call me a moron. Both of you! STOP IT RIGHT NOW!!! You're arguing over theme parks and roller coasters! There are better things out there to focus your energy on...like porn and buffalo wings. --Robb "I did think the small midget joke was pretty funny!" Yamez
I would really, really love to make a joke about a babysitter and Robb. But I will refrain! On a less entertaining note, does anyone know if Flight of Fear has on-ride photos back? I know Kings Island has had theirs restored, wondering if KD has done the same. cfc
^Nope. They're selling onride photos instead of videos on Volcano now, too.

robbalvey
I have deleted some posts and cleaned up the last page. Please keep this thread on topic. My comment about "Wings and porn" was just an example to let people know there are more important things in life to get your panties in a bunch over. It was NOT an invitation to discuss wings and porn. If you'd like to discuss wings and porn, that's what the random board is for. This topic is about discussing Kings Dominion. --Robb "Keep it on topic or your posts will be deleted." Alvey
braztaz
I like to think as the FoF and i305 section as it's own little section away from Congo. I mean they can just put up a sign like, something to do with modern America or something and voila, it works.

pkdcoaster
You gotta remember too, that Charlotte NC is considered THE Nascar capital of the world for most. Plus the Nascar Hall of fame just opened there. The Nascar presence is always gonna be greater there. John Pagel (KD PR man) did say that the I305 mechandise was selling above expectations. JEAPUgrad
Re: I305's themeing and placement Several points I'd like to make: 1. Wasn't the Congo area there back before Paramount took over from Taft? 2. Where else in the park are you going to put a 305' foot tall coaster? Unless you want to destroy the midway atmosphere (ala Great Bear's supports and footers all over Comet Hollow at HersheyPark), they didn't have much of a choice for the coaster's location. Take out more trees near Grizzly and put it on the I-95 side of the park? You think the moaning and groaning about Grizzly losing it's trees now is bad? Parking lot coaster? 3. Cedar Fair and themeing? Seriously? Do we really want to have this conversastion? 4. I'd rather see arguably the most anticipated ride on the planet be introduced at KD this year and put in it's current location than not have the ride at all. I've never been one to get bent out of shape over themeing and ride location. Just be happy that KD received the investment that was I305. There are many other parks out there that haven't received anything near what KD has over the last five years (or so).
robbalvey
Let's be honest here...does anyone REALLY care about the "themed areas" at a park like Kings Dominion?
