Austin11KD Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 ^I haven't seen the warehouse, soI don't know what it's size is, so I am probably stupid for asking ths but: would the peices of a giant frisbee or Windseeker fit in the warehouse? Probably, I don't remember ever seeing Drop Zone in the parking lot so it was probably in the warehouse.
Intimidator305 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 The warehouse is huge, but it would be absolutely pointless trying to get the rides in there. Plus, with Haunt right around the corner they are more than likely in there building props with everything all over the place. They would just set them outside of it like they did for El Dorado and Americana. But seriously, don't expect to see any parts until like October at the earliest as a flat ride doesn't take a long time to build like a coaster... El Dorado and Americana were just delivered early because they were relocated from Geauga Lake and they were clearing out the park.
KDcoasterMAN Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 ^That is the maintenance department building. its not as big as it looks.
Austin11KD Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I don't really see the point of keeping the rides in a warehouse, since Kings Dominion has a whole entire parking lot. Also maybe we'll hear about the new "product" in the next two weeks, because Hersheypark is announcing their new rollercoaster on August 2nd (next Tuesday).

RomanHORSEman Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I imagine they're going to want to build something decent to distract people from Verbolten.
Austin11KD Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I imagine they're going to want to build something decent to distract people from Verbolten. We already have Intimidator 305 and I'm sure I-305 is going to attract more people than what Verbolten is going to.
Intimidator305 Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Carowinds is rumored to announce their 2012 attraction on Wednesday, August 24th and I'm thinking KD will do it right around then too. Also, last year all 4 CF parks announced Windseeker on the same day the last full week of August and those were just flats. Plus, KD announced Intimidator 305 on Thursday, August 20th 2009. I'm guessing the 2012 announcement will be sometime the week of August 22nd.
Austin11KD Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I know this most likely won't happen, but what if Kings Dominion got Intamin to Make a NEW Hypersonic XLC! It could have the same design, same spot and everything else. I think Intamin would make the ride last a little longer than S&S did. This is just an idea for the future though, and I think it could be possible.

KDCOASTERFAN Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Yeah, I'd much rather an Accelerator. So would I,of course I'd take a good B&M invert first.
Austin11KD Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Yeah, I'd much rather an Accelerator. So would I,of course I'd take a good B&M invert first. Yeah we do need one, most Cedar Fair parks have one and we don't.

Yeah we do need one, most Cedar Fair parks have one and we don't. Aside from CWL & MIA we're the only other CF park without a B&M invert...hopefully that'll change in the future though.
gforce532 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 ^Along with Valleyfair, Kings Island, and Gilroy Gardens. Actually come to think about it 6 of the 12 Cedar Fair parks don't have a B&M Invert.
Austin11KD Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 ^I wouldn't really count Gilroy Gardens on that list, since it's more of a kiddie park than a thrill park.
JDo217 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Hey guys, I'm planning on going to KD for the first time either the second or third week of August. Originally, I wanted to do just a day trip because of cost, but I come from pretty far away (NY, so it's a 6-6.5 hr drive each way) so I realized that just wasn't possible. I only want to spend one night, so I was thinking this would be my plan of action: drive out to KD early --> spend entire day at KD --> check into hotel for the night --> drive home next day honestly, the drive + spending the entire day at the park will be fine for me since the tiredness only hits me once I'm settled down (ie driving). I don't think that spending a whole day at the park and then doing the drive home would be good even though I have someone to trade off driving with. -Anyways, as to the park, what's the best plan of action? I'm not trying to get every single credit in. I can spare the rough woodies and the stand-ups -Crowds on a tuesday/wednesday? The only CF park I've been to is CP and basically every time I go the lines are 1-2 hrs each even on weekdays. Praying this is not the case with KD :/
Fooz Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 You're going to have no problem with lines on a Tuesday or wednesday in august I think. If you're there at opening (when they walk everyone back), do volcano or i305 front seat first (the longest lines you'll see all day afterwards). You can easily get a couple rides on volcano in the morning, although capacity on volcano isn't too bad this year, so you might be able to ride it later without much of a wait if the crowds are light. If you head to the other side of the park in the early morning it will be totally empty. Most of the crowds that come in head straight to dominator, intimidator, and volcano. As for the woodies, at least do grizzly (in the front or back), as it's just been partially refurbished (by GCI, as I was told) and is running great. If it's hot, KD has a gem of a rapids ride too. If you like the park it will be easy to have a great time on those weekdays, and you wont have many lines to wait in.

Praying this is not the case with KD :/ Avoid Hurler like the plauge as it's the roughest woodie in the park & head for grizzly or rebel yell instead.Dominator will have shorter lines towards late afternoon/early evening but be sure to get on I305 ASAP as it can get pretty busy even though the crew tries to do the best they can to handle crowds....night rides on grizzly are a must & I've found that shockwave(the standup) has the smoothest spot in car 4,row 1,lefthand side. KD does have onsite lodging with Best Western Kings quarters or you can find a few other more reasonable hotels/motels in the area so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.Of course ride lines are dependent on how busy the waterpark is due to the heat...I so hope it's not too hot on 8/13/11 as I'm taking my GF down there with the guys & she INSISTS on dragging me into the waterpark for most of the afternoon.
JDo217 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 One last thing, I read in this thread that they only run one train on i305 on weekdays. Is that policy still on effect? How does it affect the wait?
Fooz Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 One last thing, I read in this thread that they only run one train on i305 on weekdays. Is that policy still on effect? How does it affect the wait? It seems that i305 runs only 1 train on weekdays to save on costs. Realistically, on a day that isn't crowded, it makes perfect sense. With 2 trains the ride is such a capacity monster that they'd be running empty seats for most of the day. I went on a July teusday, and I didnt have to wait more than 3 trains to ride (~5 minutes?) (the front seat wait will be much, much longer) the line just barely left the station at it's longest. Its usually pretty possible on a teusday or wednesday to ride i305 as much as you want. Hopefully you get crowds as light as I did.
T-BONDIcoasterkid Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 OK guys, since I am going to Kings Dominion, what can I expect waits to be like on a monday for Intimidator 305 in the front, Volcano, and Dominator? I'm thinking 40 minutes maybe for Intimidator 305 in the front?
