DerekRx
^^Wow, Hoegaarden served in a Guiness glass. Maybe if someone didn't steal all the Hoegaarden glasses already there would still be some there
mcjaco
Man, I've got to get back to the store...I'm all out except for a Sam Adam's Scotch Ale that's left over from the Brewmaster's Collection. Well, that and a couple of 22oz Fat Tire bottles....
FlyerACE1
With the Eastern PA BACT'ers taking some local brewery/brewpub visits this weekend, I decided to rally the troops (all four of us) of the Clifton, NJ chapter and try out the most local brewpub I can find on Sunday night. I remembered reading in the Mid-Atlantic Brew News about a unique brewpub in Montclair called Egan & Sons (just 5 miles away) that "sort of" brews their own beer. Essentially, they complete the brewing process and are shipped the first stage. What also interested me was their Irish food menu. Overall, I'd say the experience was a good one. The place has a great vibe, the food was good and the beer was better than expected. Check out some photos... I KNOW Mark and Amanda will be back as Mark proclaimed this "the best corned beef and cabbage he ever had!". Mark enjoys another Pale Ale while Ellen was denied a Franziskaner Hefeweizen so went with the Hoegaarden instead. Next up for me was the Oddfellows Pale Ale. It was pretty average with a decent hop bite. I would definitely get this again though. After a day of house hunting, Mark and Amanda are REALLY enjoying their beers. Mark went with the Oddfellows Pale Ale and Amanda went with the Hoegaarden. I also opt for the Cranetown Wheat. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It had many of the wheat beer qualities with a candy-like higher alcohol presence. Ellen goes with the Cranetown Wheat. Extremely dark for the style. Mark artistically displays the menu. Here's a blurry shot of the menu. They have a decent selection of guest beers too although not great. Here's an outside shot of the brewpub. It was dark so I couldn't get much. DerekRx
Tonight I went back to the Flying Dog variety pack that Adam had given me for my birthday. Only a few left in the pack to try. Tonight will be the Golden Ale (which I thought would be a Belgian Golden Ale, but I guess if it was that, it would have said "Belgian" on it) It hardly tastes like beer at all! I think I could drink this at work and no one would ever know I was drinking a beer! Tire Bite, the Golden Ale (served up in my VIP glass)
Rugged One
Adam, that picture of Mark and Amanda with their beers is hilarious. I guess that's what househunting will do to you. Glad to see that you all had a great time. Tried another Oktoberfest import. The Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest. My oh my, this stuff is quaffable. Great example of the style. If only I had gotten a 6er of it instead of a lonely single.
Meteornotes
OK, my alcohol consumption during our anniversary weekend in Charleston, SC was: 3 Stellas 1 Guinness 1 Amstel Light (best thing they had since they were out of Sam Adams at the wings place!) 1 Margarita No photos, as our digital camera has died... dt
DerekRx
^Poor Dave, first his mp3 player, now his digital camera. I know somebody who will be getting a Best Buy gift card for the holiday season Or would you prefer a Home Depot card so you can start investing in axes? baclueless
Ummmm....Franziskaner Dunkel!!!!!! Yummmyyy..... I was going to order one ($7.50) yesterday, but instead I tried some crazy German whit beir ($8.50) recommended by the bartender with some huge ass name. Ill try to get the name, but who knew I was going to find a beer thread with Adam posting to it As for Neil, he had a Gluten Free beer which he was completely surprised by when the bartender just reached under the bar and pulled the bottle out of nowhere! Greg would be very pleased that a bar carried a gluten free beer! Im blanking on this name as well, but was bottle only.
Meteornotes
^^I have plenty of axes and other implements of torture and death. Trust me on this. Dell replaced my MP3 player, so I don't have to worry about that. Our digital camera is over two years old, and considering how much it gets used, I'm not shocked that it died. Buying a new one means getting a smaller one! I had no beer since last night at the steak place. There are Stella's in our house, though. Hmmm.... dt
FlyerACE1
Ummmm....Franziskaner Dunkel!!!!!! Yummmyyy..... I was going to order one ($7.50) yesterday, but instead I tried some crazy German whit beir ($8.50) recommended by the bartender with some huge a$$ name. Greg would be very pleased that a bar carried a gluten free beer! Im blanking on this name as well, but was bottle only. Matt posting to the beer thread! You made a photo appearance once but never posted that I'm aware. Welcome to the club my friend. A few more posts and we'll induct you into BACT. Any way, try a Franziskaner Hefeweizen. It's Ellen's fave and a really excellent wheat. Never had the Dunkel. Tonight I'm drinking a Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale. This one ranks just behind Shipyard Pumpkin Ale for favorite pumpkin brew. It's heavy with slightly more alcohol but loaded with spices and pumpkin flavor. No photo to post though. Welcome aboard. Hope to see ya on here more often!!
DerekRx
Tonight I tried something my grandmother keeps buying (and drinking!) While it wasn't the greatest beer I ever had, it wasn't too shabby for something an old lady picked out It wasn't as mellow as I thought it would be. Actually had a bit of flavor and hops to it Lionshead, a pilsner from Lion Brewing in Wilkes-Barre

FlyerACE1
This is long overdue but better late than never. I now begin my wedding/honeymoon beer thread series. These are a bunch of photos taken at either my wedding or honeymoon of the beer, wine or mixed drink that Ellen and I or anyone else associated with the wedding drank. Enjoy! And I enjoy my second Kronenbourg 1664. This concludes part one. More tomorrow! At Chefs de France, the first of two amazing dinners at Epcot, Ellen loves her specialty drink which I believe was a champagne laced with raspberries or something like that. Yup, you got it. I tried the Casa Lager Beer which turned out to be my favorite new brew of the World Showcase! Back at the World Showcase, I was presented this difficult choice in Morocco. What to choose? At California Grille, I sip on some Anchor Steam from San Francisco. Props to Disney for keeping with the theme. Wish they had some Stone stuff though! I also had a Sierra Nevada. In Norway that night, I went with a Carlsburg and a sweet almond pretzel for dessert. I love World Showcase! For dinner, at Spoodles on the Boardwalk, Ellen enjoys a wine. Probably some sort of Pino Grigio. Here I am with my dork bag, all sad that we're a bit too early for the Epcot Beer & Wine Festival. Feeding some sort of totem pole in Canada with my beer. In Canada, I couldn't pass up a Moosehead. Not the best in the World but not bad. I always enjoy a Moosehead. Ellen gets in on the beer action too with a Kronenbourg. We both really enjoyed this beer. It took a day or two but I finally have my first honeymoon beer- a Kronenbourg 1664 in France at the Epcot World Showcase along with an amazing lunch! I LOVE this glass! On to the honeymoon in Walt Disney World and here I am with a non-beer drink, a Pina Colada at Ohana. Tom is double fisting it and Derek, the beer thread king, finally gets his drink on. The beautiful bride enjoys some white wine as Tom waits his turn for a photo. At the reception, in our bridal suite, I couldn't wait to have a Sam Adams Boston Lager!

DerekRx
Tonight it was time for my final Flying Dog beer to try, the Road Dog Scotish Porter. It wasn't really like other porters, smelled of hops in the bottle, with a licorice like taste which turned into a more red ale at the end. Ah, now thats the taste! Next, my old buddy Pretty tasty, sorta chocolate, sorta licorice Road Dog, love the sayings on the label
Rugged One
Yeah, Adam's finally posting his honeymoon pics! Doesn't Epcot just rule? Tried my final Oktoberfest of the season tonight. The Brooklyn Brewing Oktoberfest. This one was a little hoppier than I expected. Still very nice and a great way to end the season!
mcjaco
I've got to get my drink on.... I've lined up my trip to Minnesota next weekend. Scheduled trips to Leinenkugel's and Summit are already reserved....I'm trying to see if we can squeeze in Capital Brewing in Madison, WI too. The camera's going to get a workout! mr_teisco_delrey
^ Leinenkugel's! That is a trip in the Way Back machine for me. I used to drink those at a place called The Log Cabin. It was on Potter Rd outside of Park Ridge, Il. The place is pretty cool. They now serve a lot of Polish beers. I definately try to get there with my buddies when I visit Chicagoland. I almost got a 6 of Honey Weiss today. Instead, I went with Goose Island Nut Brown for the weekend. As for tonight, I tried a real wierd beer from India. It's called Maharajah. Tasted like Singha from Thailand, but a bit hoppier. Unfortunately, it was a little under carbonated. Also, a very alcohlic taste. It wasn't as heavy as you would experience with a Singha though. All in all it was not bad since it was a gift from the wife. A little flat, but decent taste. The bottle with the Maharajah on the label.
mcjaco
^ I know where the Log Cabin is!!! Yes, it is all polish beers now....
DerekRx
^^Wow, that ain't the Maharaja I'm desiring, thats for sure. Avery makes an Imperial IPA and calls it Maharaja. No beer for me last night (or probably tonight either). Stupid stomach virus. Why couldn't it be something that won't waste my beer!
mr_teisco_delrey
^ This was made by The Bombay Brewing Company. As for tonight it's Goose Island Not Brown Ale. 5 hours till quittin' time! ^^ Are you from out that way. I remember you mentioning Barnaby's for thin crust pizza. I always went to the one on Touhy Ave in Des Plaines.
