DerekRx
Next up was the gift shop, where I was very glad of my occupation and its pay! Wally, get excited, a portion of this belongs to you! Same goes for you Tom and Mr. Wedding Class Revesz! Yeah, he's wanted desperately by lots of people, sadly they were all out at the actually brewery! Sorry Heath. Any place that serves baby jumpers with beer on it is awesome by my standards! Gotta get me some glassware! Just for comparison! OMG! Look at all these Alt Beers! DerekRx
Afterwards, we tried to find out way to Sly Fox. Either the Fox was really Sly, Mapquest was really bad, or Kim just shouldn't have had that Pilsner at Victory, because we looped around Phoenixville quite like the Griswalds did around Parliament and Big Ben! Though he is quite excited about getting his Route 113 IPA to go! Heath tries to enjoy his O'Reilly's stout, but its as weak as possible I found this sign in a bathroom. As a homage to Lily's last day alive anniversary, I present it to you I compared it to a vertical slide, lots of hops at first, no real finish Finally temptation gives in and I try a Phoenix Pale Ale As much as any beer drinker's wife would! You watch, in 5 years, she'll be downing this like there is no tomorrow! Does Kim like the Cascade? Beer made heer....errr here And I do the same! Heath enjoys his Cascade Anniversary IPA My coaster reminded me of a coaster. I got sad for a moment After MUCH praying, we arrived at the Phoenixville branch of Sly Fox
DerekRx
Finally, we ended up at Destiny Brewing also in Phoenixville. Luckily Kim called them from Sly Fox to confirm the directions from Mapquest. It ended up being a terrific ending to a great day, with lots of talk about Smallville with the bartender of the moment. Thanks for the assorted 6pack, Rugged One, hope you have a wonderful birthday filled with lots of beer! And Heath ends the night with a Stout (which was much better than Sly Fox's). Thanks for a great beer-filled day, Heath and Kim. See you around hopefully! I finish up with a Pale Ale The TPR Daily Brew Crew enjoys their Saturday out! They've got a cool setup at Destiny, with empty kegs on one wall, taps on the other, and the current selection in the middle Wally, stop infringing upon the local microbrew market! "Da IPA is really good, and it makes me look smarter, see!?" This was also there, but mainly for "decoration" Our immediate choice, the Destiny IPA Why can't anyone find this place!??! Through this door, are you sure? Thank goodness, I was starting to wonder if we got lost! Um where do we go once we enter this building?? Look! We've found another brewery! And we didn't drive 10 miles out of our way to do so At long last, we have found the point where religion and homosexuality intersect. Its in Phoenixville
Rugged One
What can I say man? We had a great time. It was a blast hanging out with you, talking up some coasters and beer. I'm glad you finally made it to beer heaven. I'm still impressed by your Victory purchases. Derek and Heath ask "How the heck did it take us thing long to find this place?" Sucky Mapquest! DerekRx
Liver is still filtering, so since he did such a good job the past 2 nights, I am taking it a bit easy on him tonight. But finally the beer fridge is down to almost empty, so that means I can restock it with everything else I bought yesterday! This week will be fun! All I will drink tonight is this #
FlyerACE1
Next up was the gift shop, where I was very glad of my occupation and its pay! Dude, you rule. Kick ass PTR and I'm salivating over all of the Victory beer you bought. That's awesome that you thought of us with that purchase too. Some day we'll have to bring Heath out for a Beer Thread meet at BBW and Weyerbacher, coupled maybe with a trip to Dorney. I had a Molson XXX and a Yuengling today at a cousin's birthday party but yesterday I tried a couple beers based on beer thread recommendations. I'm pleased to say, both were quite good. More on that tomorrow (with photos)!

Rugged One
Thanks for the Birthday wishes Wally! I can't believe I've been legal for 10 years now. Time flies when your drinking good beers. Well to celebrate, tonight I dipped into something I've been wanting to try for awhile now. The Three Floyds Dreadnaught Imperial IPA. This is considered by many as a top ten beer in the world as well as one of, if not thee best IPA brewed on the planet. Being the hop head that I am, I had to give this a try. And I'm pleased to say that it definitely lived up to the hype for the most part. I had heard from some that it wasn't as hoppy as some of the other top IPAs out there but I found this to be not true. This thing had a fairly monstrous hop bite to it with excellent accents of citrus and sweetness. My taste buds are still tingling as I write this. It also had a very pleasing citrusy aroma that I rather enjoyed. It just had a great blend of everything that makes for a great IPA. All in all, I felt that this was definitley a top IPA. How much better than some of the other recent ones I've really enjoyed, like the Great Divide Hercules and Stone Ruination is probably debatable. My only real knock on it is the price. At $10 for a 22 oz bomber it is nearly double that of the other ones I mentioned. If your a hop head though, I would say that you need to cough up the bucks and definitely give this one a try. I have to go with the big thumbs up for this one and buy into the hype. Definitely a top brew! The Three Floyds Dreadnaught Imperial IPA. A serious, serious, IPA. FlyerACE1
So it's been a while since I've thrown some photos up on this topic however we have not been short on beer drinking on the weekends while working on the house (it's rare that I imbibe on the weekdays). Here are a few photos from Saturday night. Beer Good! The evening line-up! I think most Barelywine style beers are best enjoyed closer to cellar temperatures so this one got real good, the warmer it got. Another great brew from Brooklyn! At first I wasn't feeling this beer but got better and better with each sip. Thanks to Derek's recommendation, next up was the Brooklyn Monster Ale. Raspberry Wheat goodness!! Ellen was excited that I picked her up a 6-pack of Abita Purple Haze and not surprisingly, she jumped right in. Wow...Adam likes! Hard to explain really but it's a very good tasting, easy to drink brew. 3 for 3 from Heavyweight! Let's give it a taste... First up was Heavyweight Brewing Company's Sticken-Jab alt beer. niiicolaaah
Umm... Nicole... Uhh... Bacardi Silver is beer. It's brewed by Anheuser-Busch in Baldwinsiville, NY. Nicole does not believe you! She loves Bacardi Silver, and hates most beer, and if Bacardi Silver was really beer, she'd hate it just on principle!
DerekRx
Sorry babe, he's correct. If you look at the ingredients, it is kind of a beer, or a malternative in our language. I anticipated this evening ever since hearing some bad news at work this morning. Thanks to Rugged One and the weekend's beer trek/beer trading, I'm now equipped with lots of new goodies. First up was something I was very excited to try, but couldn't find it by the case yet around me, the Nugget Nectar by Troegs. Not to me there isn't! Speaking of Victory, is there anything better than HopDevil in a gold HopDevil glass?? Not shabby at all! I'm convinced the Troeg brothers have a handle on IPAs just like Victory does! Troeg's Nugget Nectar, would it be good?
mcjaco
Well, it finally happened....I've been waiting for months and, now it's here. I don't have to travel West of the Mississippi River any longer to enjoy one of these fine brews! [/img] Woo Hoo the Inaugural run!!!
DerekRx
Wow! Congrats dude! Thats an amazingly good brew, still one of my favorites, though I can only get it like once a year when I head to California or somewhere out West. Hopefully it makes its way to my neck of the woods before too long! I'm very jealous....though I am still enjoying my local Victory brews (brewed only 40 miles away from me!) DerekRx
OK, after my IPAness of the evening, I decided to dedicate a beer to my good friend, Ed (Grampy) Nelson, who's in the hospital. After this past summer's trip to New Hampshire, I can't think of a more appropriate beer to drink in his honor than Old Heathen by Weyerbacher. Storm King Stout goes best when wearing a Storm King shirt. Followed my Old Heathen with another imperial stout, Storm King This one's for you "Grampy"! An imperial stout, for one great friend! Rugged One
It's nice to see that your back to your liver abusing ways again Derek. I'm going to have to try that Sticken-Jab soon Adam. That looks good. Tried my first beer from the Harpoon Brewery tonight. The Hibernian Irish Red. This was a decent amber ale. Reminded me a little of Killians. Has anyone else had anything from Harpoon? I was thinking about picking up a mix pack down the road and was wondering if their other beers were worth it? The Harpoon Hibernian Irish Red. DerekRx
I had a Harpoon IPA up at Canobie Lake last year. It was pretty good for being able to get it on tap at an amusement park. I don't know much as of yet, but someone came running into my pharmacy to tell me I better get down to the Schyulkill Expressway, as an overturned beer truck has shut down the eastbound lanes of I-76. The truck hauling Fosters Beer overturned a little after 10 a.m. Tuesday in the eastbound lanes. At least it wasn't good beer! How ironic is it that all the people stuck in the traffic jam behind him are going to go home and drink?! Alcoholics from across the city came to help clean up...
