niiicolaaah Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 lol... look everybody, it's homie derek! (EDIT: I like this thread! It's like a pictures-of-Derek-with-random-people-every-once-and-awhile thread! )
Rugged One Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Fat Angel Pale Ale from Magic Hat Brewing. Fat Angel. Good stuff!
PhishyBrewer Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Mmm... Sessions from Full Sail brewing in Oregon. Good stuff!
Bush985 Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 I didn't drink at all, well had a Newcastle, but went to a place called "The Yardhouse" in Long Beach on Monday night. Anyone been there? Biggest selection of brews on tap in the world. Something between 130 and 250 drafts. From the Website: Imagine between 130 & 250 taps of ice-cold draft beer behind a stainless steel island bar served from a state of the art remote draft beer system that incorporates between three to five miles of beer lines!! All I can say, if I wasn't driving I would of been in Paradise at this place. But yea, I'm sure some of you have been there. Wish I had my camera with me to get some photos. -RD
PhishyBrewer Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Just chillin in my new den. Buddy is chillin also. One of my new favs. Session by Full Sail.
DerekRx Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Tonight on Derek and random other people drink beer.... Derek goes to Buca di Beppo! Derek, Donna (DeeDee), and the Pope all chilling out after a little too much alcohol before Lost. Nothing quite like drinking with the Pope! When his 1 meatball arrives, Derek thinks: "Why is everything so freaking big at this place?!" Derek vaguely remembers ordering Mozzarella Caprese, just to make Elissa jealous. Suddenly....30 minutes later, Derek decides to order a Warsteiner Dunkel. When it arrives, Derek says "Dude, this is NOT good! 2 good beers, only 1 already confused liver!?" First up, 22oz of Sam Adams Boston Lager! Derek thinks: "Holy cow, this is a lot of good beer!"
Rugged One Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Dogfish Head 90 Minute Imperial IPA. I love the 60 Min IPA and it's big brother is just as good. I like how it's hoppy but not bitter and fairly mellow. Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. Bring on the 120 Min next month!
waterviper Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Cheers with a Sam Adams Cream stout!!! So Yummy and tasty too!!!
Pelydr Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Last beer for me was a Deschutes Jubilale. An ok winter blend but nothing to get excited about, at least in my little opinion.
65skylark Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Ok, so its been a while sense I posted any pictures as I am just one of the random people that likes to post in the "Derek and random other people drink beer thread" but here goes...... I headed down to McMenamins Pub tonight as it is only about a half mile from my house and one of my favorite places to eat. And the winner is Hammerhead by a slight margin over there wheat hefe. Yum. Hammerhead. Now this is a good beer. There Porter is good. Nice and hoppy with just a hint of chocolate and coffee flavor. Sandi likes the Ruby Ale. I know! I'll try them all and then decide. A view out our window of the old Oregon City Bridge and the Willamette River. Ok this weather is really depressing me. Time for a beer. But, which of there excellent brews am I in the mood for tonight? McMenamins. Looks nice and cozy from outside in the effing rain eh?
DerekRx Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Its still cold here this week, so apparently its still winter. Perfect time to enjoy another Weyerbacher Winter Ale. Sure is better than some other Winter ales I've had, though I'm starting to have less desire to drink these hearty winter brews. Bring on the Hefes, Springs, Summers, and IPAs! Maybe if I drink all of these, winter will be over?
PhishyBrewer Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Derek... what would you do if I didn't create this thread?
FlyerACE1 Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Derek... what would you do if I didn't create this thread? LOL! I think this thread is turning us all into alcoholics! It's rare I drink at home but lately I've been trying a new brew every couple days or so and sharing my thoughts on the forum. Derek has taken it to the extreme but I look forward to checking the thread every day and see what everyone has sampled lately (even if it *is* only like the same 4 people). Damn, I feel like I've known you all for years and the only two people on the thread I really know is Tom and Derek (well, I should know them, they are my groomsmen after all). Any way, just closed on my house today and Ellen and I celebrated with dinner and beer at Triangle Hofbrau, a German restaurant nearby. No photos to prove it but we both enjoyed a Franziskaner Hefeweisse. Seriously, I do think that's the best Hefeweizen made although I have a 4-pack of Ayinger's offering just begging for a tasting. Keep the thread alive!
PhishyBrewer Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Tonight on "Beer and the Boob Tube" For the beer we have Jack Russell Brewing Co's Olde Ale Winter Warmer. The brewery is in Camino, CA which is the half way point from Sacramento to Lake Tahoe. And on the Boob Tube tonight we have David Byrne at Union Chapel.
Rugged One Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Back to the Hop Wallop tonight. Love it. Victory Hop Wallop. So hoppy, it hurts.
DerekRx Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 With only 6 partial cases of beer in the garage, I figured it was time to visit the distributor and pick up something else. Tried a different place, and WHAMO! different stuff. So, like a kid in a foreign candy store, I picked up stuff I hadn't had yet but heard good stuff about. First on the weekend agenda, the King.....Alpha King! Maybe its because the hops killed my tastebuds or perhaps I'm just glad its the weekend and I'm at home drinking beer, but this is one of the best IPAs (though its no HopDevil) You can probably tell, this bad boy's extremely hoppy. CHEW CHEW CHEW And so we shall see... Three Floyd's Alpha King Pale Ale, supposedly one awesome IPA
SharkTums Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 I don't know how you guys do those really hoppy ones!! They kill me!!!
DerekRx Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 ^I don't know how you do Robb, so we're even! The trick to the really hoppy ones is to not intend to have anything else for several hours, as you'll be tasting the hops for quite a long time. This type of beer as a really aquired taste to it, and its nowhere near the lagers and such that are mainly thought of as "beer". You'd be amazed how the people at work react when they drink one of my IPAs when we go out in comparison to their standard Miller Lite. Maybe sometime soon I'll sample another Red that compares to your favorite High Roller.
SharkTums Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 ^Let me know if you find one! I love that High Roller Red!
PhishyBrewer Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 ^I don't know how you do Robb, so we're even! Ohhh.... SNAP!
DerekRx Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Next up, a Winter Ale I never had, by Brooklyn Brewing out of, um, Brooklyn, NY. The beer distributor dude said this beer was very popular and the only way I could get it was in a variety pack, which works for me because its like 6 credits in 1 case! Its ok, nothing to write home about IMO, but then again, I'm not the biggest fan of winter ales To get more in the winter spirit, I turned the heat off, and donned my winter hat. I would have worn my skeleton gloves, but I think Robb stole them I was told Brooklyn's Winter Ale was good
Louise Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Not beer or wine, but check out the amount of vodka on the table!
SharkTums Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Call me alcohol ignorant...but what was the blue drink!?!?
