BeemerBoy Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 ^ Joking right? Who doesn't know who DJ AM is? "Celebrities" don't count. Also: Lindsay Lohan, a friend of DJ AM's, also expressed her sorrow on Friday evening. "can't believe this.. i'm in shock. why? why? r.i.p. adam," she wrote. Ask Darwin, sweetheart. Ask Darwin.
spaceace12 Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 ^ Joking right? Who doesn't know who DJ AM is? Count me in as another who doesn't know also.
tatertot3710 Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Maybe...he was a DJ...who played music...in the morning. Never heard of him. I would much rather mourn the death of someone who I don't know that died from cancer than some "famous" DJ who overdosed on drugs.
paintballer Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Just listen to some of music, then you'll be mourning. The man was a great.
ParkTrips Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 ^ Because no one else makes good music. Its not like he was a ground-breaking, world class entertainer. Edit: He was *just* a freaking DJ. I didn't know who he was either. I read he was in the plane crash with Travis Barker last year, he should have been happy to survive that enough to get a wake up call to get off the drugs. Guess not.
Hercules Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Can a dude from CrazyTown really be considered a celebrity?
tatertot3710 Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 ^ Michael Jackson was. But EVERYONE knew his music.
BeemerBoy Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 When you're more famous for who you've dated, you are NOT a celebrity. Off the top of my head, Grandmaster Flash, Jam Master J, Norman Cook, are examples of celebrity DJs.
ParkTrips Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Dont forget Funkmaster Flex just cause that's one badass name
BeemerBoy Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 ^ & ^^ both excellent additions to the list. Also, Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys.
Hercules Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 ^ Certainly a great addition to the list. What about Fatboy Slim? So, as an ongoing tally, you are only allowed to post the following DJ's when they die: Grand Master Flash Norman Cook (AKA Fatboy Slim) DJ Jazzy Jeff Funkmaster Flex Mix Master Mike Jam Master J - Already deceased.
ParkTrips Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I think that list is pretty much dead-on as far as worthy DJs, pun intended
BeemerBoy Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Norman Cook is Fatboy Slim. I'm not sure why I posted him under his real name though. My brain works backwards sometimes.

Now NOTED! Learn something new every day. Would Moby be considered a DJ?
Teacups Make Me Sick Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 ^How about DJ Tanner...although, she wasn't as great as her neighbor...Kimmy Gibler.
Hercules Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 ^ Come on now. No time for making jokes. This is serious business. We need a true list of DJ's that can be posted in this thread. No need for your tomfoolery. Besides, we all know DJ Tanner is actually Candace Cameron, who I believe would be eligible to be posted within this thread, though, I think she would follow under the "Childhood Crush" list.
ParkTrips Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 or how about Stephanie and her battle with alcohol. Gotta love a girl who buys herself a new rack to get her life restarted
bigstevet07 Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I would have to add DJ Red Alert, Kid Capri, and possibly DJ Cool Herc. They all got their fame from spinning records on tracks for MC's. Can't forget Spinderella and Kay Gee from Naughty By Nature.
Teacups Make Me Sick Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 or how about Stephanie and her battle with alcohol. Gotta love a girl who buys herself a new rack to get her life restarted Stephanie is more hard core...she had a meth addiction. Sorry Herc, I know that his is a sensitive topic...so with that I would like to ad into the Grandmaster B (I think Bud Bundy was vying to be a DJ, right?).
Shockwave Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Patrick Swazye goes to the afterlife for the second time. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8256033.stm She's Like The Wind will be getting played very loud in my car tomorrow.
ebl Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Now we won't know if he's zipping into or out of a train when we're riding the subway. It'll always be a mystery. Swayze was too young and had so much more to do. And he seemed like a really nice guy---not exactly the type that we have in Hollywood anymore. Eric
christianscoasters Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Patrick Swayze has passed- (Kanye Interrupts) "I'm sorry Mr. Swayze, but Michael Jackson had the best death EVER."
