DenDen Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 I'm amazed at the clarity of these new pics. Here's my fav. Even shrunk down, you can still make everything out. Kennywood
ebl Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 I downloaded this program earlier tonight. When I get some time, I'll play around with it. Â But it sure looks like fun! Â Eric
robbalvey Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 So is this data different than was Google Sattellite has? Â --Robb
Canadmos Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 google earth uses the same images that maps.google.com uses. With google earth you can do a few extra things, such as rotate the image and zoom in closer. Interesting image of burning oil fields in Iraq. Entertainment city in Kuwait with Batman the ride clone. One of the only 'censored' areas. Oh noes!! Heaven forbid someone should find out where the capital building is!!! Grand Canyon, I think
BDG Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Why not post links to Google Maps, instead of compressed jpeg screen grabs:  Disneyland Resort Paris Legoland Billund Parque de Attraciones Port Aventura Six Flags Magic Mountain Six Flags Marine World Six Flags New England Universal Studios Orlando Resort WDW - Epcot WDW - Magic Kingdom Warner Bros. Madrid  Microsoft launched a similar service a few days ago at http://virtualearth.msn.com. Some locations have a much a higher resolution than Google, but downside is that less important areas are black & white and it's only USA so far...  Disneyland (1600x1200 Disneyland !)
robbalvey Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 So when did Google Maps get all these cool international locations? I thought they were just US and UK. At least that's how I though it was a couple of weeks ago! Â --Robb "This is cool!" Alvey
Canadmos Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 They have had images from all continents (except Antarctica) for a while now.
EricLovesTZTOT Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 It's not a park but... Here are the Château de Versailles and its so special gardens !   Do you see him ?! >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>>
BDG Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Most big cities and important locations are in it. For example, Japan: Â Nagashima Spaland Tokyo Disney Resort
maliboomer Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 http://perljam.net/google-satellite-maps/ Â You can find most theme parks in here.
benzo41190 Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 SFGAm comes in really clear. You can see the trains on Raging Bull and most of the rides. Â Does anyone know were a Nuclear Power plant is. I tried TMI and chernobl but I couldnt find one.
Coasterlicious Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Has anyone had luck with Cedar Point?.. All im getting is the outline but you cant zoom in...
CoasterEricHP Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Wow.. Google Earth is CRAZY! They are taking all of this stuff to a completely new level. Check it out.. pic from this weekend Google of Downtown Pitt Google Oriole Park
dsngiem Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 well too bad my computer is incapacitated (yay exploits in old OS's!)

PhishyBrewer Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 This is cool, yet very addicting... just like TPR My home park, Six Flags Marine World
kenshinmac Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 lol  Anyone actually look at the pics of Elitch Gardens? It actually shows the Flying Coaster being assembled.... You can see the track next to it. Plus it was before the ugly brown corner on Twister 2...
ahecht Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Ehh, Google Earth is for wimps. Real geeks use USAPhotoMaps. Just hit the "U" key to switch to color photos, use the GoTo menu to go to an address or coordiantes, hit F to download the image data, use the + and - keys to zoom in and out, and use the arrow keys to navigate. Four times the resolution of Google, plus you can save pictures of any size area at the highest resolution (even Google Earth Pro doesn't let you do that).
SLUSHIE Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Has anyone had luck with Cedar Point?.. All im getting is the outline but you cant zoom in... Â I havent had any luck with it either. Â Sucks that you cant get a clear image of it because it took me a while to find it.
CoasterFanatic Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Who's your buddy? Who's your pal? Â Cedar Point Aerial: http://virtualearth.msn.com/default.aspx?cp=41.486165|-82.684802&style=h&lvl=16&v=1 Â Found on http://www.virtualearth.com
BDG Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Real geeks use USAPhotoMaps. Â There's more on this planet than the United States. Much more !
Real Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Actually, if you really are a geek, you purchase the monthly plans from a satellite company and stitch your own together. Some of the resolutions from that program were abysmal at best!  Examples:  http://www.real-coasters.com/images/satimagery/boss_small.jpg http://www.real-coasters.com/images/satimagery/GS_small.jpg http://www.real-coasters.com/images/satimagery/sfstlouis_final.jpg http://www.real-coasters.com/images/satimagery/shockwave_small.jpg http://www.real-coasters.com/images/satimagery/TG-TJC_small.jpg http://www.real-coasters.com/images/satimagery/vortex_small.jpg   The entire one of Six Flags St. Louis was over 100 individual panels at a VERY high resolution. The coasters are anywhere from 4 to 12 depending on size and res.
ahecht Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 I did the manual stitching thing for my Disneyland image that I posted here a while back (150+ tiles), so I feel your pain. Not fun at all, and I was pretty pissed when I found out that there are programs that do it automatically.
