Kennyweird Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Coastertube is fine. I preferred TPR TV, but I really don't care one way or the other.
CoasterLine Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I'll be the first to notice that the TV antenna is actually a "V" in the TPR font
Speeddeamon128 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Awesome logo Robb. Coastertube is a good name because it will let the GP no what the basic idea of the site is. So will the URL for the site change to coastertube.com or will tprtv.com still work?
Guy T. Koepp Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Are you going to change the (Theme)Green, (Park)Red, (Review)Blue for consistency or are you going to go with the all yellow? Personally, I like the colors and think it would make the "Coastertube" & "TPR" logo stand out as their own, but still give the feeling that the two are hand in hand, one with the other. Kinda like the Holy Trinity of coasterdom. Only with two sides. Sort of a Holy Coaster Duality. Guy "Where do I come up with this crap?" Koepp
Crazy4Coasters! Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 The only thing I would change is the word "Television" to just "TV"Just so it won't sound to wordy. I thought about that. And I think I'd like to stay consistent. So it's either all abbreviations or none at all. TPR TV or Theme Park Review Television Seeing how it seemed to fit very nicely in the logo I decided to go with Television. --Robb Well if thats the case then the name works fine. I see no problem with the GP getting confused to what this your site will be referring too. Am glad to see this will finally be set in stone.
philthephorce Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I really like the logo! I'll probably still say TPRTV for a while, until a few people look at me like I'm crazy because they don't realize what I'm referring to. Will it be animated and bookend each video on the site? I'd buy that on a t-shirt too... (that makes me think of the running joke in RoboCop - I'll buy that for a dollar!)
coasterdude5 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I'm glad you went with Coastertube - I think it will be more friendly to the greater internet population.
robbalvey Posted February 17, 2009 Author Posted February 17, 2009 I'll be the first to notice that the TV antenna is actually a "V" in the TPR font Yes it is! You can see a version of the new logo installed here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/tprtv/ I'm going to do some work to change everything that says "TPR TV" over to "Coastertube" and at the moment www.coastertube.com also works! --Robb
Speeddeamon128 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I really like the logo! I'll probably still say TPRTV for a while, until a few people look at me like I'm crazy because they don't realize what I'm referring to I'm still going to call it TPRTV either way because that is basically what it is
thrillerman1 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Although I initially voted for TPR TV, I think the final official name incorporates the best of both worlds and was a wise choice for the broadest possible appeal to anyone looking for coaster/park vids. Smooth move Robb! Dig on the logo too.
robbalvey Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 I'm currently working on getting everything moved over to CoasterTube: www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube At the moment, embedded videos in the forum don't work but that should be fixed by tomorrow. It's getting VERY CLOSE to going live! --Robb
Electerik Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 A bit of a silly suggestion, but perhaps you could make the "static" on the TV "hilly" instead of straight, to really sell the coaster conection. [Edit: Hmm, it's looking like my suggestion might be a day or two late. Oh well, I'm still claiming victory on the name! ]
robbalvey Posted March 17, 2009 Author Posted March 17, 2009 Hey everyone! I know getting CoasterTube "live" is taking a little longer than we expected, but I think you'd all rather have something that is really solid, right? Anyway, we've done a lot of little improvements this week with the player. Probably not something you'd notice right away, but more "under the hood" stuff. If you all have some time, please browse around CoasterTube and even try to upload a video or two and see how it goes. http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/ Thank you! --Robb
Guy T. Koepp Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 First and foremost. I love the new banner! It looks fantastic!
Reality15 Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Hey Robb, still having issues uploading a video. It's in AVI format and it allows me to upload the file, but then goes nowhere when it hits 100% of the file uploaded.
robbalvey Posted March 19, 2009 Author Posted March 19, 2009 ^ I don't see your file having been uploaded. Did you delete it? If you did, could you re-upload it and see if you get the same error. If you do, leave the video there so I can show it to the programmers. Thank you! --Robb
StealthFan Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 I have just uploaded an AVI file with no problem. Try again and I see no reason why it shouldnt work.
Airtime&Gravity Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Just a small complaint, but would it be possible to center the banner? It just looks a little odd with the small space on the right but a large space on the left. I was having trouble with videos loading, but I haven't encountered the problem lately, so keep up the good work in fixing the site.
cfc Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Robb, I just tried watching a few videos from my work computer, and something's not right. The sound is OK, but the visuals are "squished" up at the top of the screen. They look like a thin, multicolored line.
Guy T. Koepp Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 ^I am having the same problem Chuck. I have never seen this before today.
Reality15 Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 ^ I don't see your file having been uploaded. Did you delete it? If you did, could you re-upload it and see if you get the same error. If you do, leave the video there so I can show it to the programmers. Thank you! --Robb Alright, I just uploaded the file again and it's once again stopped in the same place. I'm stuck on the "Upload a new video" page, and it's making everything else on the site except the forums so they don't load. There's only this video on my account, so it's easy to find.
StealthFan Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 ^^^ I belive this is the link to your video. http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=Fun_Spot_2006_t7xn Ive got a feeling some videos take a long time to convert to FLV to allow the player to show the video. Is this a new upload or the one you just tried and got stuck? -Craig
Reality15 Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 The new upload that I did about 30 minutes ago and got stuck. It doesn't work when I go to my profile, but when you go to that page it works. So I guess problem somewhat solved?
StealthFan Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 I have had this problem before when uploading. Its almost like CT is queuing the video up to be converted, thats why it is not redirecting. It only redirects to the home page once the video has finished converting and works. If the video was in a queue it will stay on the upload screen. I think this problem has been sent off to the programmer by Robb. -Craig
