Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

P. 177: 2025 park enhancements announced!

Recommended Posts

I'm guessing you guys are getting two flats and something else. Maybe another flat or smaller attraction. I think that hoping for two flats and a roller coaster next year is a bit of a stretch. 2-3 attractions is more than enough to start teasing now, without it necessarily being a roller coaster.

I agree. I'm still saying dark ride.

Did anyone else see the new Saloon located next to the Jail? Could we be seeing something like Ghost Town at Knotts coming where the markers are? Just a thought.

Possibly. I'm still saying dark ride with the used rides. That's my final answer until some more info comes along.

Speaking of coasters though, what would you guys think of a dive coaster? I'm know it's been mentioned in this thread before as a joke, but I think it would be a great fit, especially for a smaller park like Worlds of Fun. They're not all that expensive, and they are much more thrilling than most coasters on the market. What if they build one where Orient Express was, and have it dive into the small valley next to the front entrance?

I think a Dive Coaster would be a great fit for WOF. It would definitely be unique to the region.

If we were to see one of the two, I would say Eurofighter but I do not believe this is what the park is looking into adding, or at least for 2017/2018. I would really love to see either a custom Premier launch coaster where the Orient Express used to be. If not that, I would love to see a small B&M floor less coaster like Hydra go there. I know this isn't necessarily what they've been looking into adding, but just a thought.

As for 2017 I see a dark ride in Bicentinnial square along with the Condor put where Thunderhawk used to be. I think a decent height ride back there along with a new dark ride could bring people back there. As for the Troika I can see it being placed by Steelhawk in the Reelers old spot.

The markers in Americana might be used for some sort of revamp of that area because in the past couple years they've been improving it (train robbery, Vittle Grittle repaint, jail, Saloon, etc.)

It really all depends on if the SDC rumor of a 2020 dive coaster is legit and if SDC signed an exclusive contract for the area.

I don't think it will happen, I was just throwing the idea out there. It fits SDC better anyway.

I'd be even more okay with a Hyper GT-X at either.

We actually need a good sit down looper more than anything. We only have two coasters that invert so I think a GT-X is out of the question

I wanna see something like Rougarou actually

I'll be heading to the park on Wednesday. Hopefully it doesn't rain too much. Leaving to go pick up my bride's new Subaru Cross Trek now and we're going to immediately leave the dealership lot to stretch her legs four hours to KC. Figures the damn car would come in on the evening we're leaving.... see you at 1am, KC!

I'm still hoping for a launch coaster from Premier. From what I've heard, the Sky Rocket II's are very intense and really fun. I'm still hoping for one of those. I'd love a unique layout, but with the park's budget I don't know if we can get something that can pack a punch (length, speed, intensity) like the Sky Rockets can. But I had heard a while back from someone that Full Throttle was ridiculously cheap, so who knows?

I was there on Monday and planned on taking photos but my phone got wet and I damaged it. Not too much different in Bicentennial Square. I was not aware of the markers in Africa so I didn't keep an eye out.

Over by Thunderhawk the pad is still boarded up. When I was on Steelhawk I was able to see the gates are still there as well as the pool. The thing I found interesting was the game buildings in Thunderhawk plaza were stripped of exterior decorations. All the games inside were removed and the center games building in the middle of the plaza was closed. Now, it was very dead at the park so that may have attributed to that for the middle building.

Honestly to me, I believe the Troika may be going in Bicentennial Square. Just my thoughts. While walking through that area and where the markets were it seemed like a good possibility. I could be way off though.

I was also intrigued by the fact that the Dinosaurs Alive exhibit was marked as free and was open to all. Not sure if that is something anyone has seen before? None of the animatronics were on and all the Dinos were static. I had never been back there before but that land is very valuable if you ask me.

The carousel in Europa was closed and looked abandoned. Like no care had gone in to reopening it for the season.

Nile was down but that was probably cause the expected rain (which never came) unless it is usually closed this early in the season?

Timber Wolfs retracking was absolutely glorious. When it is completed it will easily be very enjoyable again!

Operations need some work. There were A LOT of trainees there that day causing painstakingly long load times. One ride on detonator, they had to lock/unlock restraints 4 times! It's early in the season I didn't mind minor delays and believe as the season progresses they will work those issues out.

Mamba's re-painted portion looks great and is so vibrant. Does anyone know or can anybody confirm if sections of Patriot were recently re-painted? I remember last year it looking very dull and faded but did not look as bad this year.

If I think of anything else I'll post it.

At the park today. Took some pics of ravine markers near prowler, Zulu. Doesn't seem much to it. Plumbing going down the hill. Immediate drop off the side of the hill where the markers are at. I don't expect them to fill a 30 foot ravine with dirt for a ride. I could be wrong though , or looking at wrong area.
