bert425
We just got back Tuesday from a 5 day stay at Circus Circus (we were in town for the NASCAR race), and I took a bunch of pics in the Adventuredome I plan to post too. (of course, after touching slot machines, and riding in planes, I've gotten sick -- so haven't had a chance yet to upload the pictures). . but I was able to get a few of the station, the removed "last drop", and ground level pics of the Catapiller (which doesn't seem to have moved since the pic on the prior page!). they did put up big fences to "block" the views, but there was a nice gap I was able to get my camera thru to snap pics , and was able to take some good ones on the bridge when leaving Canyon Blaster. Canyon Blaster, by the way, was running the smoothest - and FASTEST -- I've ever been on. We rode it Saturday night with our free passes from CC (you get a fairly decent coupon book if you stay at the hotel, which includes a few good Adventuredome coupons). I even mentioned it to the ride op, and he said it was running so fast due to the weather ? (it was cold, and had rained most of the day Friday, so I have pics of the classy white buckets all thruout the Adventure dome too!). Never heard that explanation before, but hey, it was running so fast, they were getting away with only one train, even on a crowded Sat. Night. pics hopefully this weekend from me too! bert425
^ You survived 5 days at Circus Circus? Has Obama contacted you about your medal yet? oh. .it was fun filling out their questionnaire they just sent me! We were upgraded to one of the "remodeled" rooms, in the Main Casino Tower upon check in.. and I will freely admit that the room was beautiful, and was MUCH better than I expected (cream wallpaper/carpet, maroon linnens/curtains, and wood/cream colored leather furniture). but yeah. . we found "nasty" stuff left from prior guests on the bedsheets/covers, and for 4 nights we had SCREAMING babies in the rooms next to us (screaming between 1am and 4am almost non-stop). I told them I liked the room improvements, and would definitely visit the property again -- the Steakhouse was hands down, the best restaurant experience/food we have *ever* had in Vegas. i KNOW. . I was shocked too!. . but once you get past the entranceway, and down the long hall into the actual steakhouse? Old School Vegas -- all Mahogany & Brass, huge Chandeliers, giant open pit where the chefs grill the steaks, and NO kids. I asked our waiter and he told us that "no, the typical CC guests don't come into the steakhouse". LOL Yes, very expensive, but seriously, my Prime Rib? 1 1/2 inches thick, and about 10 inches long. Served with big baked potato, veggies, bread basket & blackbean soup. We used a coupon from the CC book, and got a complimentary bottle of wine too ($40). so definitely back to the property just for that place. but we have no plans to ever *stay* there again. We told them why waste the money upgrading the rooms, and then NOT have "no kids under 10" floors? It makes absolutely no sense to stay in a nice room, but not be able to get any sleep because screaming kids next door. (something you get enough of in the Casino and all over the rest of their Property -- "Rockin Rita's" was a nightmare.. the kids LOVE those toilet bowl plates!). as to "survived".. I did get sick, remember? (heh)
Mr Stratosphere
Hi everyone! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Here is a little quick update from the park today. I'm positing this from Canyon Blaster's station. (Which is running extremely well!) A lot has been done on the dismantling of Rim Runner which is amazing because the park is open every day! All of the work has been going on during the after hours. The station has been gutted of all ride hardware, all that remains is the trough and the station queuing. The trough after the station has been half removed for easy access to remove debris. The entire splashdown pool is almost completely gone and cleared for the footprint of El Loco. The rest of the ride is intact. All hardware for the lift, and the drop is still on the ride. As well as the lift chain. They are predominantly focusing on the splash down pool. All of the mountains are currently still here. The final helix of Canyon Blaster used to be completely shrouded in darkness but with the drop of Rim Runner gone, you can now see light inside and see some great head choppers! Fairly quiet day here as I am sure everyone is recovering from last nights festivities in Vegas! On to the photos, have a great day everyone! The station and first portion of the trough. This looked very different just a few weeks ago! The back end of the station. What is left of the splashdown pool. A peek through the fence. Mr Stratosphere
Here is a look at the brake run / transfer table. Look in the background and you can no see light emitting from the hole that used to be Rim Runner's drop.
jray21
Thanks for the update. I like seeing destruction pictures, and these definitely are. I can't wait to see more!
Mr Stratosphere
Me too! It has been a blast coming by to see this transformation, I still wish Adventuredome would have scooped up Speed: The Ride, would have been perfect to have the ride outside, but the station inside the dome! DougMJr
Me too! It has been a blast coming by to see this transformation, I still wish Adventuredome would have scooped up Speed: The Ride, would have been perfect to have the ride outside, but the station inside the dome! I am wondering if that would work, it actually might. The adventure dome is raised as there is parking underneath it right? And the station of Speed: The Ride came out of the second floor of that NASCAR complex... Probably possible, I just hope it gets built again somewhere on the strip. Also, they should turn the trains backwards!
Double0Kevin
^ They could just adjust the design of the footers to compensate for the height difference if there is one. I personally don't think Speed would be a smart choice for the Adventuredome. It's hard to excite people about a ride that has already operated for 12 years right across the street. I think their choice to go with a more unique style ride in El Loco was much smarter.
SharkTums
^But they could paint it pink and no one would figure it out! It's Vegas!!!

Mr Stratosphere
And this couldn't be more true. It is exactly what Wet 'n' Wild is doing. All of their billboards state "We're Back!"
Double0Kevin
^ HA, yeah I saw about 10 of those last week. And I love Speed, I just don't think Adventuredome is the place for it. I would love to see it get developed down by Mandalay Bay like they had announced. There aren't really any rides at that end of the strip after Luxor got ride of their stuff. Also, I rode Manhattan Express (yeah, I still call it that) last week and it was so much worse than I remember.
Mr Stratosphere
Just a heads up if anyone is coming to town. Adventuredome through March 30, will be operating 10:00AM - 12:00AM for Spring Break After Spring Break, the park will start to open at 11:00AM on weekdays, assuming this is for demo work on Rim Runner after hours. The Park's schedule is posted through the end of May. Mon-Thurs the park is open from 11:00AM - 6:00PM. Fri-Sat 10:00AM - 12:00AM Sun 10:00AM - 9:00PM
Mr Stratosphere
Hey everyone! Just got back home from a quick update from the Adventuredome, this will be the last update for a couple of weeks as tonight marks the start of Spring Break here in Vegas and the dome will be crazy busy all week with the schools being closed this week. Lots of progress has been done in the after hours. The area for El Loco seems to be almost completely cleared to the concrete floor of the park. The Rim Runner's sign has also finally been removed. Have a great Spring Break everyone! The Rim Runner's logo has finally been removed! A closer look. A look at the beginning of the trough. Amazing to know a few weeks ago there was water flowing through here. Fun to see how close the ride interacted with Canyon Blaster. Look how much space has opened up here. Thought this shot would be better with a train in it... no? The final turn into the station is now being demolished. They've been sawing away! They have almost completely cleared the footprint of the new ride. The former splashdown pool From ground level. Absolutely amazing progress. bert425
Sorry it's taken me two weeks to post, I got really sick and just now had time to upload/format the pics from the camera. anyhow, here are pictures from two weeks ago, when we were in Vegas for the NASCAR race! It rained the first day, so as you can see (compared to the first post in this thread) the Adventuredome really upgraded the weatherproofing in the past two years "standard" pic, from infront of Chaos: and now the construction pics (sadly out of date a little bit now (sorry)):
gisco
Nice to see the pics of the demolition. No matter how good of ride they put in that place it is still going to be Cicus Circus.
Mr Stratosphere
Thanks for sharing!! Amazing what has been done in just two weeks since the races, that area is now almost completely clear.
KBrylczyk
Thanks for sharing!! Amazing what has been done in just two weeks since the races, that area is now almost completely clear. Give a disgruntled construction guy who just lost a few bucks in the casino a bulldozer and you'd be amazed what can happen, haha.
jedimaster1227
Interesting to see just how much space has been freed up by the removal of Rim Runner. Is the mountain expected to be removed entirely or are we seeing the full extent of the removal now? Also looking at the space (and I could be wrong based on only seeing the pictures and having never visited the park), it looks like they could squeeze a few new items into that space besides just the El Loco, if things were positioned correctly. Mr Stratosphere
Hard to tell, but keep in mind, all that has been removed of the Rim Runner so far is the drop and the splash down pool. The lift, upper trough, maintenance area (shed), station and main trough have yet to be removed. And the lift and upper trough are all in the mountain areas. Time will tell.
