Theme Park Engagements/Weddings

Recommended Posts

I did a search and didn't find any previous topics about this, but I am a "newbie", so I may have missed it (sorry!). I know Robb and Elissa got married at WDW and the marriage on the Voyage has been in the news lately, but I was wondering if anyone else has any good stories about engagements or weddings at Amusement or Theme parks?

To get things started here is a picture of my fiancee and I when I proposed to her at Cedar Point! I bought her a CP frame at the beginning of the season and told her we should save it for a special picture. When we went in August I suggested that we had one of the Kodak folks take our picture for the frame. She agreed, so I asked the employee if I could pick the pose. He seemed a bit confused, but when I went down on one knee and took the little box out of my pocket, he knew exactly what was happening, and the rest is history! As you can tell from the pic she was very surprised. Because of this day, Magnum has become "our" ride. It was our first engaged ride together, our first engaged ERT together, and now is our first ride every time we go to the park!

Congrats! My first marriage was onboard Medusa at SFMW, now Discovery Kingdom. Good thing for me that we ended up getting divorced because man, she was a you-know-what.

Congrats again on your marriage. May you and your wife love each other forever. Ok, that was sappy, but I'm allowed some sap every now and then.

Cheers.

Congrats. I love the pic.

Here is an article about a couple getting married on Ghost Rider at Knotts Berry Farm:

It's from 1999 however -

Knott's Locates Couple To Get Married On The GhostRider

Buena Park, CA - Knott's Berry Farm has located a couple to get married on their new wooden coaster, the GhostRider. The lucky couple will be flying in from their home in Michigan to get married on the roller coaster this Friday, February 12. According to a park source the couple are members of the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE).

I married my ex at the Star Trek Experience in Vegas, and then the whole wedding party got onto the ride simulator. It was pretty fun. The night before the wedding, my fiance chickened out at X-Scream...I should have seen the warning signs!

Friggin awesome place to get married. Sorry it didn't work out. My new wife and I got married in Vegas, but in a semi-chintzy chapel there. (I say semi-chintzy because this one actually was fairly nice and provided a nice reception afterwards)

Though we stayed away from the Stratosphere, we did actually take a ride on Speed. And then we rode the coaster. Ok, yes, that was a bad joke... I know.

One of the first times I went to Darien Lake, an entire wedding party got on Mind Eraser just as I had gotten off. Bride and Groom in the front, and the rest in the following seats.

It was pretty funny watching the bride trying to keep her legs crossed so her dress wouldn't accidentally give people a peek.

When I worked at Xtreme Skyflyer at Canada's Wonderland there was a small wedding ceremony. The wedding took place on the platform, and when they were done, the bride and groom took their first flight together.

Hey that's great! Congrats you two.

JimmyBo just proposed at the Phoenix Zoo? (I'm a little hazy here, but it was a great thread and video).

Me, I'd love a Disney World wedding or Star Trek Experience wedding. How awesome would that be? The girlfriend isn't too keen on either, unfortunately, and Star Trek will be in the Nexus soon. Oh well.

Cheers for theme park and unique weddings!

^ Awesome way to plan it, and really cool how you had the frame already picked out. So I assume your fiance is a coaster enthusiast too, or at least enjoys them? Whenever I find that "one girl" I really hope she is a coaster enthusiast too, or at least enjoys theme parks.

We're a bit young to be thinking that far ahead. First we need girls.

Surprisingly, I met a cute girl on RCPro who loves coasters and especially Cedar Point. We planned to meet up when I was out there last month, but as my bad luck would have it - she got the flu and couldn't come. What could be worse? Anyways, this means there are girls out there who love amusement parks and coasters too. The odds are weighed heavily in their favor though, so that means much harder for us guys since there are way more of us who love coasters than them...

I want either a WDW or Vegas wedding, partly because I want an excuse to only have a small wedding and also because it'd be like a built-in honeymoon! (which is really the only reason I wouldn't just go down the registry office route, i'm so romantic right?!! )

I was going to propose in front of Wonder Mountain at Canada's Wonderland, but I knew we wouldn't be at that location until after riding Behemoth and didn't want to risk losing the ring on the ride. Plus I figured the metal detector may have picked it up, thus ruining the surprise. So instead I went with a restaurant, much easier.

When I decided it was time to propose I actually came up with three different plans that could easily be implemented if things went other then I had planned. My plan B was going to be to head up Stratosphere and propose up there. Things worked out well however and I ended up popping the question in the Eiffel tower at the Paris Hotel... I later discovered that was a very common place for people to propose, considering that in the 20 minutes I was up there another two proposals went down. I still wonder how the Stratosphere idea would have worked out if I ended up going with that instead.
