vacoaster09
New Picture... still no vertical but shouldn't be long... looks like all footers are finished. This should go up relatively quick. Â Â
KDCOASTERFAN
^Not sure but wasn't that building in the left side of the 2nd photo a part of the SM exit/merchandise shop?I wonder if they'll reuse it as an entry portal for the new coaster? vacoaster09
It will most likely be reused and based on the overlay the entry portal will be pretty much right where this recent picture was taken. Right near Pirates Flight (flat ride). SFAfans.com
megametal
How long has the Falling Star been gone from the park? It's not listed on their website, but it's on the 09 and 10 maps. (SFA hasn't updated the map on their website since 09) If it is truly gone, they've lost about 6 or 7 flat rides in the past 10 years.

KDCOASTERFAN
^ Not if SFGAdv and SFMM have anything to do with it  SFGRADV doesn't need any more rides for a while period because they can't even staff all of the rides they have from what I hear & SFA has no really good flats remaining for SFMM to get. alilstronger
I am going to jump on this bandwagon with the flat rides. Â This is PURE opinion now so please be nice hehe... Â If this park knew how to take care of their rides the would have more flats. It seems like once something has a few issues they disown it. They used to have such nice rides!! They had rides that they "had issues with" that parks STILL own and operate. I feel like this park just does not want to take the time to fix anything up. I understand this park does not have the money nor the crowds that some other Six Flags parks do but I think the main reason is because of the ride selection. The general public is becoming more and more smart and keen on this. I have lots of friends who are not into parks as much as me. Even they would rather travel to other area parks than drive 45 minutes to SFA because of the ride selection. Â The rides I miss and really enjoyed: Â 1. SkyEscaper 2. Iron Eagle - I KNOW this has a lot of issues but there are still some in operation so someone knows how to take care of them. 3. Krypton Comet - Again they had LOTS of issues but yet some parks rarely have issues with theirs. 4. The Tilt - Classic ride I think all parks should own. 5. Avalanche - Fun ride for kids - too bad theirs did NOT play music 6. The Octopus - I LOVE these rides!! 7. Skull Mountain - I know they had lots of issues with this but once they turned off the turn tables the issues seem to slow down in my opinion. 8. Curving Dervish - Fun ride for kids 9. Lily Pad Walk -These are sooo much fun!!
vacoaster09
^I agree, clearly maintenance has been lacking the same fix it attitude some of the great operating parks have. I believe that this is the one area where the park is being held back, but not necessarily their intent, more so because of monetary constraints. Â However (Just my Opinion, no mal-intent), I must say, you cannot single this park out for some if not most of the rides you mentioned. Iron Eagle: (don't care how well you maintained it, it is simply plagued, My favorite ride!!! but I remember it getting stuck up side down several times, do know of many parks who have them anymore, so SFA was not alone) Krypton Comet: nearly all parks have removed theirs, can't fault SFA for doing the same. (Chain decision) Octopus: a great ride but after the accident (one can understand why its gone) not alot of parks still have them in the chain, I know SFGAm still has theirs! Avalanche: dated ride, While I'm sure it could have been maintained better, its also a ride where I feel I could understand it being taken out. AT SFNE, Kontiki, now only goes forward, doesnt even go backwards, and it not the most popular ride at SFNE either, wouldn't be surprised if SFNE takes theirs out one day too. The Tilt: (LOVE THESE and I feel there are rare at Six Flags park) but a dated ride yet again, I can why it was time to go. Sky Escaper:... I miss this ride (that whole middle sections of that park for that matter) But then again, SFGAdv even took theirs out and a few others. The are still some out there but not at parks I visit. Maintain them as well as you want but I just think eventually, rides meet their maker. Skull Mountain!: There was no also no helping unless you did a complete overhaul of the system. The ROI of such job would not benefit the park, The turn-tables did not do much justice except for eliminate the problems with the turntables, the ride system was the true issue. Two Face (Tear drop): Bad Media reuined the rep of the ride. Even if they fix the problems, the damage was done. Even CGA removed theirs after similar trouble. I could go on and on about the uniqueness of every ride at that park. Some rides are just plagues from the day they are born. Everyone can name some. Its just unfortunate SFA has got some many of these types and still has a few in my opinon. Batwing for one! Some rides just are plagued with downtime, and the fixes are just not going to justify a good ROI. Batwing's only downtime cure is a complete system overhaul and upgrade. Â I also don't think it's fair to say that park doesn't want to fix their rides. Money is the problem here and they are only allotted but so much. With what I have said about some rides like BATWING and Skull Mountain, which rides do u think eat up a bunch of money? Yet the park has to allocate to maintain the whole park best they can. You can just spend it all on one ride. In a perfect world Corporate would just make money grow on trees but they don't. This park does best they can with what little they have. I am sure its frustrating but I appreciate their effort. Â SFA Had TONS of flats and still has an ok number. I think SFGAdv needs more flats than SFA does. I just dont think I would go as far as to talk bad on this park and single it out, you'd need to talk about other parks in the chain just as much. netdvn
^ SF seems to be working toward adding more and more new additions to SFA with Thomas Town, Zoomazon Falls, and Apocalypse. It seems they're slowly building up the park. Â SFGRADV doesn't need any more rides for a while period because they can't even staff all of the rides they have from what I hear & SFA has no really good flats remaining for SFMM to get. Â I figured SFGAdv only faced that problem after the War on Lines period when the park had too many flats and not enough people to staff them. Now that most of those flats were removed, there's not enough flats and the park is starting to bring back classic flat rides. I'm sure the park can manage a slight increase in flats (compared to the War on Lines at least).
vacoaster09
Six Flags is working on this park, but it first had to work on the interior. There is alot of new management, most of the big wigs at the park prior to 2008 are gone! This park had to restructure and start rehabing, before it could rebuild. The park is coming back. I have full faith. Many, including myself, have had horrible experiences at this park, but just alike. All my visits to the park have been great this season. Actually, I ended up at GR at KD because operators were just playing around and talking about inappropiate things and playing jokes. I mean but let Sfa do something wrong and its the end of the world. But like my experience at KD, I have to forgive and hold faith that the park will improve. Sometimes it seems people bash this park and haven't been recently at all to justify their claim. It still might not be the greatest but its definitely not the worst! (Dorney and KD I think didn't impress me nearly as much as SFA did operation rides. At dorney and KD, those parks' rides did most of the work. AT SFA I love the high fives, I love that the attendants talk to you, greet you, actually engage you, just give me all around attention. There may be a few bad seeds but the Good outweigh the bad at the park finally ....in my opinion)

All they did was staple some fake tree themeing to the structure and take the tubes away from the already existing slides.
netdvn
^ 2 Questions... Â How long did those slides just sit there abandoned before SF decided to upgrade them? Â If the old SF was still under control, would they ever think to reopen the slides or leave them rusting away?
vacoaster09
^Years. Honestly, I believe old six flags would've left them. They were previously walled up around perimeter. I truely think that once the new CEO Jim Reid, made his visit to the park early this season. When he passed by (because its impossible to walk down main street and not see them) that it put it on his Radar and he made the decision to revive the slides. I really don't know what the old six flags was thinking out how they thought such was Ok, but im glad this new management took notice.
