BRTeller Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I decided to go up with my mom and try out my new camera for Hershey's Opening weekend. I went on Saturday and for a hour on Sunday. Had an ok time and rode all the major coasters. Pretty much just hanged around and took pictures, as that was the reason I really was there. Don't get me wrong, I love coasters, and Hershey. But I also like to relax at Hershey, since I live close and go very, very often. Fahrenheit though, I will be there opening day to ride that a few times. If you would like to see all of the Fahrenheit Pictures, click here. Photo TR: Fahrenheit wasn't open, but this was. Splish Splash, notice all the new boards on the lift. Wildcat, one of the best woodies ever. More Wildcat. Wild Mouse, through the trees. Again Wild Mouse. Lightning Racer, pretty cool, but Wildcat is the beast! Look at that butt! Yes Fuhfenheit was there to....yes I know I spelled it like that. Butt face! I still love you! Even though people think a crappy Lazy River and Wave Pool will be better! (If you think that, then you suck!) Hi, Sidewinder. Weee, bang, shmack, clunk! I still find it enjoyable though. In the back, you experience some great forces here. Going! Going! Going! Going! Gone!!! Pretty! It's back! Track! Pretty, again! Freefalling.... One of the best shots of all time. Loop-de-loop! Pretty! Comet. My third Favorite shot. Don't even care if the train is there, its still awesome. I didn't leave you out, this time at least. Pretty! I leave you with a picture of my dog, right before she flipped out about the flash. Hope you enjoyed the Photo TR! -Brandon
FeelTheFORCE Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Awesome pictures! I have to try and get back there this summer. I was there last, but Fahrenheit looks to be worth the 4 hour trip. I love that Wild Mouse! Definitely the best Wild Mouse I have ever been on, by far! What did your dog do after the flash? lol
alpengeist04 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Great job on the pictures. Hershey has always been one of my favorites. Heck, it's the only amusement park in my top 5, the others being theme parks of course.
TheRapidsNerd Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Some great pics man. I have a grim feeling about Canyon River Rapids too. Love the sitting area under Sidewinder's cobra roll. Just looked neat to me.
CoasterEricHP Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Geez.. for not being THAT tall.. Fahrenheit really looms over that one shot of Tidal Force! So cool looking! Great TR! Im happy someone else out there shares my love for the Wildcat!

Im happy someone else out there shares my love for the Wildcat! Thank you, finally a person that agrees. Wildcat is a intense ride that rocks. It's not boring and provides a beat the crap out of you ride all the way through. Not like a SLC, which is good, but like a wooden coaster should be. Also thanks everyone fore the comments, I'm glad you liked the pictures.
CoasterEricHP Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 hank you, finally a person that agrees. Wildcat is a intense ride that rocks. It's a great ride during the day.. but once the sun goes down its INSANE!! Definately a top 5 wooden coaster IMO. Im still not sure about those new pelvis cracking lapbars though.

They aren't to bad, still gives you a good ride. Doesn't let you fly around the seat as much. Which is always fun with a woodie, but still just as good.
DBru Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Reports like this really make me want to get out to Hershey! How does Wildcat run with its new trains (compared to before)?
BRTeller Posted May 7, 2008 Author Posted May 7, 2008 Thank you^. Just before you posted this I posted the explanation on Wildcats new trains. So just scroll up .
Reon Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Add me to that list of Wildcat lovers. It's my second favorite woody, right behind Cyclops at Mt. Olympus. Aside from that, Hershey's looking great this year! I can't wait to go up there once Farenheit opens. HP's one of my favorite parks, even after only one visit a few years ago.
Tanks4me05 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 BRTeller, you said that Fahrenheit had some pacing problems in one of your captions. Can you elaborate?
BRTeller Posted May 7, 2008 Author Posted May 7, 2008 BRTeller, you said that Fahrenheit had some pacing problems in one of your captions. Can you elaborate? Cobra Roll was kind of slow, along with the Norwegian loop. That's all, I still think it's going to be awesome. It might go faster with real people who knows.
knowit Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 As some of you may know, I have a few contacts in Hershey. I asked one of these contacts just what would be "cooling down" Hersheypark in 2009. I asked him if they were removing the rapids ride. I got a surprising "I can't tell you that" after a slight pause. But he did say what was going in was big. Big in a sense that "alot" of people would be able to go through it. Thats all I know at this point. More to come (hopefully)
crazyrider06 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Awesome pictures.. I cant wait till i go to Hershey in 3 weeks!!
VivaLaVibora Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Why couldn't they just call the Wisdom Tornado the Tornado, and have the normal looking panels? Instead, they call it the Howler, and put a Tornado design in the center. What the heck? Other than that, thanks for sharing the pictures.
angryemobeaver Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Hershey Park looks nice! I hope ill be able to go in the summer, or atleast Dorny Park...
Kennyweird Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Looks great! I can't wait till I go to HP in early June.
chemical_echo Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Personally, I can't stand Wildcat with the new trains. First time I rode it with PTCs it was bearable, but with the new trains I refuse to ride it anymore. Went on it twice last year, hoping the first ride was just an off ride but was sadly mistaken. Ops pushed lapbars down too tight and they even clicked one or two more during the ride. I had never wanted to get off a ride right atfer the first drop before. Now it's just one less ride I have to wait in line for this season.
CoasterEricHP Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Yeah the lapbars having almost no resistance is a real issue! The new trains do wonders for the roughness factor, but now you have to try to avoid having the lapbar amputate everything for the waist down! The bad thing is even if the attendants dont crush you with it in the station, it still will keep clamping down more and more throughout the ride. Lightning Racer has always had the same issue.. but its a less intense ride so its not quite as bad.
