California Great America (CGA) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I don't see anything too bad with those photos. Maybe when you start spinning it around it looks worse, but as far as those stills, I don't see any glitches that are any worse than you can get from normal satellite images.

Yea after messing around with the app some more, these don't look too bad it' when you start to zoom in and move around. A few things that are messed up is Drop Tower is almost completely gone, the turn around just after the corkscrew on Vortex is cut off. Then there are some other minor things that are messed up.

I'm about to see this map for myself, downloading the iOS 6 update now...looking forward to seeing a very cardboard-looking CGA. I noticed a couple of chunks missing from Flight Deck...good thing it's the off season To my knowledge this looks like the only theme park I've seen in 3D so far. Disney, SFDK, SCBB, Knotts, SFMM...all flat as a pancake!

Update: I have the map, the best looking thing on there is probably the Rapids. Anything aerial is a solid chunk raised and 'shaped' to look like a coaster. Check out Flight Deck in all of it's funky glory!

The 3D reminds me of the renderings used for the Gold Striker promo/rendering...not Goldstriker itself but the surrounding buildings and few rides (like the cardboard-looking carousel with the imploded/sucked inward roof).

I did notice that in the new apple maps they have the park listed as "Six Flags Great America". I submitted a correction.

I just did the same...decided to be nice and add the website, phone and address as well.

Other random note, the Logger's Run lake is drained and several of the flat rides look naked (see Celebration Swings) as this was done during the off season.

Does anyone know what the random assortment of kiddie flat rides in the car park behind CGA is? By noticeable in the 3D mapping, almost looks like a small Ghetto Fair, just behind the amphitheatre?

That's the Global Winter Wonderland event (http://www.globalwonderland.org/) that gets held in the CGA parking lot that debuted last year, has nothing to do with CGA, just another company renting the space out.

Bump, who here is excited for Haunt? I know I am, I just can't wait to see MMMM in it's final form. Should be one of the better mazes from what i've seen and heard about it. But I still look forward to doing the classics such as Carnevil and Toy Factory, also looking forward to some night time clench and squish rides on Black Widows Cavern.

Yay, the CGA thread's alive again

So far, that I know of, there will be my cousin, Blue Fire Guy, JeffyJosephNorcal, my neighbor, Rolercstrluvr and Rawkin Coaster. Evening, I'm sure there will be at least another 6 to add onto that. Come to the boofet, meet us there (and get into Haunt a bit early and beat the front gate craziness!)

I'm very excited for this weekend, going to be one of my longest days spent at the park as I'm also doing the day visit to do some rides and check out Goldy (It seems like ages since I last saw an update, seeing the coaster almost 2 weeks ago when I last visited). It should be a nice surprise and drool session for us...bring an extra change of clothes, guys!

Very good advice, GCI coasters are rather...shapely should I say? That and bye-bye to my Haunt virginity this weekend! Seems like MMMM's going to be a hit for Haunt veterans and newcomers alike. But the part I'm looking the most forward to is snapping the flyers again.
