Angry_Gumball
Yay more golden coaster porn! Now we anxiously wait for wave 3 from Blue Fire Guy! Oh, and this is now up...nothing special as far as filming goes but it's my first ride on CGA's sky coaster, Blue Fire Guy's first sky coaster credit ever. Honestly, it freaked me out when I pulled that cord

Oh, and this is now up...nothing special as far as filming goes but it's my first ride on CGA's sky coaster, Blue Fire Guy's first sky coaster credit ever. Honestly, it freaked me out when I pulled that cord That was a legit OMFG moment for sure, holy crap! As for wave 3 of the updates, it won't come until tomorrow evening. REALLY busy with college lately, sorry guys! Though I can sum up right now what you'll all see when the time comes: "Jeff's 'Car Crash' ride on Loggers". Also, did you actually type in j-e-e-p when you captioned your photo of Kevin lying next to the car? I laughed really hard at that one, the TPR word filters are just the best. Angry_Gumball
^Gotta love college classes Gives me time to look forward for the next trip report rather than cramming them all into 1 basket. Oh, I totally forgot to add these to my trip report, close up photos from the initial swing on Xtreme. Priceless shot #1 of my cousin and Jeff Priceless shot #2 of Blue Fire Guy and I just milliseconds after pulling the cord.

rolercstrluvr
I set a record for myself this year with 71 visits in a single season. I'm sure that'll change next season for me when Gold Striker opens.
azza29
So Gold Striker is "opening Spring 2013" - does that mean it'll be ready by mid-May, or are the likely to push it into June? I'll be in SF on the 2nd weekend of May, would be awesome if that thing is open when I visit!

Only thing that I could see slowing down construction would have to be lots and lots of rain.
Flagg O'Dim
Great reports as always! Major kudos to the ride ops who let us do a mini-ERT session on Drop Tower, even letting us get the last drop of the afternoon before Haunt. For a Sunday, Haunt was crowded, and I can only imagine just how bad Saturdays are. We waited 30 minutes for Slaughterhouse, but thanks to staring at Gold Striker for 29 of those minutes, it didn't seem that long! While we were waiting for Club Blood, one of the blackouts counted 680 people who went through the maze in the last hour. Speaking of Club Blood, the line sure looks different — as in, nothing but dirt. All for a good cause, of course. Got a traffic jam in the maze, and just my luck, it happened to be right in the "Pictorium Peek Zone" (as I'm now calling it) by the mad scientist. Amazing views of the (many broken) chairs, and for the first time, I saw a lit-up, curving staircase that I assume leads up to the higher rows of seats. Gauntlet was much improved, thanks to the actor from Knotts Berry Farm. He got me every time. I also noticed more sliders in the park than I've seen all Haunt season. Dead Man's Cove was nonexistent yet again, no music and seemingly only two or three pirates. Closed off the night with two rides in a row on Flying Eagles, the last one being with the TPR group. During my first ride, I almost spun a complete 180, and I'm proud to say I got my first (real) snap! While I've thought I've gotten one before, this was truly a snap: Creaking cables, front end kicking up, followed by a huge, soaring leap into the air that definitely scared me. Angry_Gumball
While it seemed to be busy, just after we did Flyers, CarnEvil had no line, as well as CB and Slaughterhouse. It seemed that all the crowds went together like a flock of sheep to the back of the park as Toy Factory would have been easily a 30-minute wait. But since we covered almost everything in just over an hour I think we did pretty good!
jray21
Thanks for all the updates! I was really hoping to get down there this weekend, but I have to work. I can't wait until next year. Definitely will be there for opening, and hopefully they'll need extras for a commercial shoot!
rolercstrluvr
If there is one, i'll be there for the commercial shoot, the media day event, and opening day. That alone is at least 50 rides or more, good start to my goal.
Angry_Gumball
If they do happen to do a commercial shoot, I'm totally down for signing up! I've been watching more GCI coasters than I can imagine as of the past few months and it is only getting me even more pumped for Gold Striker! Troy, Renegade, Wodan, and Prowler come to mind, trying to spot similar elements (Renegade's first turnaround, Troy's first drop, and some of the airtime humps on Prowler...and the quietness of Wodan). Starting next season, I'm setting a goal for myself, I'm going to start counting laps on coasters...something I should have been doing all along. Blue Fire Guy
All right, the 3rd wave of photos is here! 'Twas my last visit to CGA (excluding GWW) of the season, and I literally ended it with a snap on the flyers. Losing my sky coaster virginity was a big highlight though, and from the launching position is the only place in the park where you can really get a good look at TroyProWodanigade's airtime hill following the double down after the Prudential turn. The wood smelt quite pungent in the "Xtreme Area" as I'd call it, nothing like southern yellow pine in my nostrils! List of highlights: -Getting the hang of spinning Breakdance boats, had one of my more intense Peanuts' Pirates rides. -I went a little too crazy on the flyers, but it was a fitting way for me to end my visits. -Jeff had a "Car Crash" on Loggers'. We all rode solo to make sure we didn't get too wet, but the downside of that is that the log will stop a lot quicker during the splash, causing some intense deceleration Gs. You'll see it in the photos! -KBF talent livened up the Gauntlet significantly, something it really needed. -Skycoaster. 'nuff said. List of sucky moments: -Star Tower down all day and all night, but for a good reason -OK, so now there are "Line Blockers" instead of line jumpers. They are jeeps who just idly stand at the beginning or in the middle of a queue doing nothing but blocking our way. Ugh. Not nearly as disgusting as line jumpers but still...ugh! -A height nazi kicked us off of Woodstock despite the fact that there actually isn't a maximum height rule for it. The TPR gang and I have done this many times before, so this op just decided to be a total nazi and make up some rule forcing us to walk-of-shame our way off the Intamini. UGH!!! And now, it's photo time! Good morning CGA! Doing some pre-opening shots. Flight Deck lookin' good as always. GWW tent. ...a lonely Cedar Fair trash can. Okay Star Tower, time to lower yourself down for us nerds! Um...Star Tower? Oh well, you're closed for a MOST EXCELLENT reason... Clearing for the Troy "mirror image" first drop. Midway Turn bents are going up! This'll be our Star Tower substitute for GWW. Deflated Overlord. Don't piss him off, or he WILL shove diarrhea up your A$$. Porn, porn, porn... Before the ride begins, I take a picture of Gumball taking a picture of me taking a picture of Gumball taking a picture of me taking a picture of... NERD SHOT!!! Loggers' fun. One TPR member survives...NEXT! Jeff looks OK right now... ...until he has a "Car Crash" and falls down! LMAO! TroyProWodanigade's butt. TWISTY!!! From this angle it almost looks "NINETY DEGREES!!!" Here's the final turn, buried in the twisted mess of wood. Jeff in a blue suit? Oh you know what this means... "Why the hell do we do these kinds of things?" Getting closer to their fate... I hope you two are ready, you could lose one of your nine lives to this thing. Going up, and then... Gumball captures the critical moment... Almost... OMFG!!!!!! They survived! Jeff isn't sure about what the hell just happened to him! Bird Statue: California's Great America Would you like to save your game? Would you like to warp back to the sky? The TPR folks hit up Delirium. Whooosh! Someday...SOMEDAY...I WILL get you! Time for a little Pirates fun! And we'll finish with a "Butcher's Eye View" of some GCI wood. Good night CGA, we will be returning for GWW! TroyProWodanigade's going to be MASSIVE by then.
Angry_Gumball
Awesome update, love the Skyward Sword bird statue reference, it totally looks like the bird statues in the game Yea, I totally forgot to note about the whole Woodstock thing. After walking through the station and out the exit, I decided to double check that sign so I can use it in my defense for future rides...yea, we really wanted to ride Woodstock's as you can probably tell by this post. We now at least know which op is coming up with these off-the-wall policies.
XYZ
Blue Fire Guy, you must be jealous that I grabbed the Taxi Jam credit some time ago. Angry_Gumball
Yea, pretty much. It was a shift change as well and was a ride op I've never seen before working the ride. I've ridden Woodstock every time I visited over the course of the past few months now and have never had any problems. I did totally mean to go ride it later in the day when there was another shift change but completely forgot. Next time... As far as Taxi Jam, I may just have to take my nieces to the park one of these days just so I can get that credit. I highly doubt we will be lucky to have a ride op let it slide, as much as Taxi Jam appears to be the same manufacturer as Sea Serpent (which we can ride) at SCBB. Both Taxi Jam & Sea Serpent are manufactured by Miler just to make that clear. It's odd how they have different rules since they both are in the small size and both are built at around the same time (Taxi Jam: 1999, Sea Serpent: 2000). rjvader
Check out my latest Haunt video, Hauntvision Goggles! (Fun fact: all filmed entirely on iPhone ) Awesome work! Great homage to TF2 as well It was pretty funny when the camera cuts to you after the Overlord's opening and proves that it's just you who sees all the creepy Haunt stuff. I might have to overlay the "Do You Believe in Magic" song to get a weird mix of Meet the Pyro and Haunt scare zones haha
