BeemerBoy Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I have heard that an audio system was tested in Florida, so that ride may someday get similar enhancements. Hmm, I don't like the sound of that (no pun intended). I kind of like the idea of refurbing the ride with some visual enhancements, but keeping the uniqueness of this particular SM (sans audio). If it became too close to DL's version, in my opinion, that kind of takes the fun and intrigue out of traveling to different parks within the chain and experiencing what each one has to offer. Kind of like customizing cars...everyone starts with a stock model, but the final product is built out of each builder's imagination and unique style. Hope that made some sense.
robbalvey Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 ^^ I hear you, but I would try to warm up to the idea as what I'm being told is that it WILL happen. I grew up with audio-less Space Mountain and I used to HATE the music (then again I really hated the old Dick Dale soundtrack) and only have warmed up to it since the new soundtrack went in. The off-times I've been on Space Mountain where the audio didn't work seems "odd." I personally would rather see audio on the current Florida layout than a complete gutting of the ride and a clone of California be put in (I hear that was discussed at one point too) That, IMO, would be the worst thing they could do to Florida's Space. --Robb
pianojohn Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I usually prefer the international versions of most Disney parks and rides over their US counterparts. --Robb Hear hear! Now if we could just get Tokyo's Pooh's Honey Hunt SOMEWHERE in the states! That ride is amazing! Fun TR!
Big Mike Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Hey Chuck, Hope you are feeling totally better soon! I saw some credits that I still need to get on your report!!! October I clean up in California! Great TR and all the best buddy. Peace, Big Mike
cfc Posted January 25, 2008 Author Posted January 25, 2008 ^Thanks, Mike--I'm feeling better tonight (might be able to make it to work tomorrow). I agree with keeping the same layout for Florida's Space Mountain, only with music and upgraded effects. I liked the ride in Japan, but it did seem a bit odd without music. Uniqueness is a good thing.
TheRapidsNerd Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 I had a few good laughs out of the picture captions. Thanks for another great TR. Glad you're feeling a bit better.
stingrock23 Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Great report. It would be terrible if they replaced Florida's space mountain track with DL's. Combine the FL track with the updated effects in Cali, and you've got the perfect Space Mountain.
sfmmrules! Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 I'm going to Disneyland next week. Is Splash Mountain open? I sure hope it is!

Guy T. Koepp Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Awesome TR Chuck. I love your captions as well as your honest opinions. It was sooooooo awesome seeing you last weekend. Sorry I couldn't make it out to DLR with you guys on Sunday. Had to husstle my a$$ back to Nashvegas. I love the picture of me sleeping. Someone should tell that story. Glad to hear your feeling better. Being sick sucks big time. It looks like me and the fam are going to try and make it to Euroburg during the kids spring break. I will let you know when we make our official plans. It would be great to have a Europro escort us around the park.
cfc Posted January 25, 2008 Author Posted January 25, 2008 ^My pleasure, Guy--just let me know when you're in town. FYI, sfmmrules--Roger Rabbit, Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear, and Monsters Inc. were closed last weekend.
