I'm not sure if this is spam so delete it if need be.

A friend and me are working on a fansite for Hersheypark and we might need help getting it up and running. We are looking for park photos, news, updates and we need writers and mods for the site. If you're interested, PM me and I'll get back to you ASAP.

Currently, another friend of mine is working on the coding for the site and hopefully he should be done with it soon.

Stay tuned for more updates!

I hope the site turns out good since there are no sites for HP. There was Hersheyparkonline.com but it's basically dead (no more forums)

Chris,

I looked up HPcrazy on the internet and it comes up with a Sweedish Guitar player. You might want to change the web adress.

Can't wait to see it finished!

Over the weekend I hope to get a outline drawn up and send it to the future staff of the site.

We still need help with the site!

Matt (HPCrazy) and me have been trying to find people to help us get our site up for over a year and a half and we haven't got anywhere. We need help in these areas:

-Logo Design

-Web Design (We need a professional site to be made) like KIExtreme.

-Forums

-Video and Picture Donations (all credit will be given to their suppliers)

-Moderators

-Writers

and a lot more!

If you're interested on helping us just PM either Matt or me or post below what you're willing to do or if you have any questions or comments.

I'd be more then willing to write articles and news stuff about the park. I dont know if I'd want any big "jobs" but I'd be more then willing to help out get things started. Hershey is my home park and I'm there very often. Please let me know if I could do anything.

I know logo and web design can wait a little, but it would be nice to do. I would suggest starting with getting a url and then hosting a forms on it. I don't really know how to do it but I'm pretty sure the phpBB offers them for free. I wouldn't want you to waste a long time or money on logos and web design without a forum base. Getting a lot of information about the park (you know a ride section with all the info like RCDB if not more, and flats, park history, exc..., and have that set up. I'm not much of a expert so you might want to check in with some of the top guns here.

I'll give you a couple good reasons why your going to fail.

First, the domain name HPCrazy.com is taken so the thread title is meaningless.

Second, Your plans are to big. Start small and work up. In fact just start. In 5 months you still have nothing. Why didn't you at least start something. You could improve on it and learn as you go.

Third, you don't have the passion to make this website successful. Your looking for other people to do your work for free. Until you put in the time and sweat, other people won't either just for you.

No actually we have been on a roll. Chris was (and I think he still is, but life keeps him busy) a temporary site that we would launch until we could find someone to help make a professional looking site for us. I also am very creative in logo design, but my life has been busy right now, that I just haven't had the time to sit for hours at a shot tinkering around. I did try to come up with a concept a few days ago, but again, not enough time to sit and tinker with it. I may give it a shot again in a few day, but we would also like to see other people's ideas, as they may have better ideas than I would.

Also, I think Chris was aware of that domain after he launched this thread, so the name can be changed at the mods attention. We talked about other names such as HP-Crazy.com and so forth and whatever would fit in there.

So we aren't just sitting around waiting for people to do the work for us. We have been active in trying to get this thing going, but it takes more than just us to help make it work.

^I think what people are saying is that you should scale back at first so that it isn't so hard to get things rolling. I mean, I've built a park fansite all by myself - it's not much, but it's a start, and other people have come in and helped it grow over just a few months. Starting off like this is a bad idea, it's too hard to get everything organized. Just throw something up and work it into what you want.

Yeah, a lot of us have thrown together phpbb boards and just opened them for the heck of it. I'd do that now, and just see what the forums bring in. If you get a lot of members (heck even outside ones) then you could get other people who would be much more dedicated and willing to help launch the site.

Ha, that's funny... some friends and I are about to re-launch our HP Fansite.

Not very professional YET, but it will be...

(I'd love to help you all out on your site, as well! I'll have plenty of pictures come mid-July...maybe we could exchange?)

HPBuzz? Never been there but if he is trying to get professional quality, maybe we can work together. If you email him or whatever and let him know of our situation, I'll be in touch with him immediately. Maybe we can merge together or something. I think HPOnline and Hershey Central did that right before of the demise of those two sites. Could be something worth while for both of our sites. I have plenty of info (including my history timeline and themed area info) that would be very beneficial. I'd love to work with him if he would be interested!

Hey, I am the owner of HPBuzz.com and would enjoy getting some more people on board. I would like to make it a professional quality site and I know that the market is there. Feel free to email me at admin@hpbuzz.com if you are interested in getting together to discuss ideas and what not.

It's great that we're getting all this together. Sorry Matt that I haven't been able to help out much this week, I've been kind of busy. I should be less busy starting Sunday.

Thanks to Brandon (BRTeller) we may have the site up soon and to celebrate our grand opening Matt and me are planning a few perks for you guys. The first one are site T-shirts! These won't be the most professionally made though (t-shirt transfer and ironed on. Over time depending on how popular the shirts would be we could get people to do this for us. Don't expect these T-shirts to be for sale anytime soon though because the next perk would involve this.

The second perk is top-secret, but all will be known soon....

Here's the modified logo that will be on the t-shirts. The color for it will be steel grey.

More news and site updates as they come!

What's the obsession with being "professional"? Look at TPR. It's got about as simple a layout as a website can possibly have, yet it's still the best on the net! That's because Robb and Elissa have invested a lot of time, money, and effort in getting all sorts of great content for us to enjoy!

It's all about content. You can have a template from geocities as long as you have quality content (constant updates, good park information, etc.)! No one will care what the site looks like. Starting with "looking professional", poor quality T-shirts, and "perks" is doing it backwards. You do that stuff AFTER you've established yourself.

Posted

We have already established ourselves. HPCrazy.com has been around for over 4 years now. But Matt became too busy to update the site. So now I'm helping him get it up and running and we have put a lot of our time into it and money and now we also have partners (hpbuzz and hersheypark101.com) that may merge with us to make it bigger.

And when I mean professional, I mean a clean, well-updated, with the latest news and photos kind of website. Not the kind of site that just starts out with all the "bells and whistles", but with the one that starts with the basics. The perks are just what we are doing on our spare time and money.

A lot has happened since July. The person who planned on helping us get an updated site up had backed out which caused us to make some changes. In October I purchased a web design program and started immediately on the site. At the beginning of December I was a quarter of the way through with the site when I got an idea to make the site more attractive. So for the past month I have redone what I had already done on the site and a lot more. The site is now Boardwalk-themed since the Seaquel is opening this year.

Right now I have most of the main pages up. The timeline, and rides pages for all the rides in Founder's Circle, Comet Hollow, Music Box Way and half of Minetown done.

I still need to finish the rest of the pages, work on the removed ride pages, add the food, shops, entertainment, and Boardwalk pages. i also need to get the forums up, purchase the hosting, and domain name.

I plan on finishing the site sometime in February or March just in time for the summer season and Springtime in the Park.

If anybody wants to donate some of their photos to use in the site, just drop me a private message.

HPCrazy.com has been around for over 4 years now.

All I know is that when I go to www.hpcrazy.com I get this image:

Perhaps you should have just listened to Bob in the first place:

Second, Your plans are to big. Start small and work up. In fact just start. In 5 months you still have nothing.

I'm usually not one to criticize other people's work on websites because TPR certainly has it's own share of problems, but in this case, dude, c'mon, you first posted about this a YEAR ago and you're STILL have nothing! And you're only 1/4 of the way done?

My advice: I think you need to focus your time on something that has a reachable and realistic goal.
