Hobbesx2 Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Everyone always says the castle is really small, but now I get what they are saying. That thing is like 20 or 30 feet high. That picture put it into perspective.
MisterP Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Nice collection of old timey photos. But its not complete unless you have a pic of Burning Cabin!
almostAMAZING Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Wow that's great! Thanks for the pictures! As a very long DL visitor, I sure do miss Skull Rock and Captain Hook's ship...
clarinetman Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Great pics! I made my first visit to D-land when I was 6 (1970). We just have the slides my dad took. Wonder if those can be transferred to jpg files? Â Have the holes in the Matterhorn mountain where the skyway goes through been filled in?
Rollertoaster Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 ^Some places may be able to transfer slides to jpeg. Call a reputable camera shop in your area and ask if they can digitize slides. You can also scan them yourself, but only if you have a scanner with a backlight for scanning tranparencies. Â Also, those holes in the Matterhorn have been filled in. An excellent site to visit is Yesterland, devoted to past Disneyland attractions.
Joan_Crawford Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Nice photos i wonder if they had much breakdowns? x
robbalvey Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Was your "Old Gray Subs..." caption a throwback to the now extinct America Sings or was that just a coincidence? Â --Robb
Melonballer Posted January 19, 2008 Author Posted January 19, 2008 Was your "Old Gray Subs..." caption a throwback to the now extinct America Sings or was that just a coincidence? --Robb  I was listening to attraction soundtracks while I was posting.
Carnage Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Great pics! I made my first visit to D-land when I was 6 (1970). We just have the slides my dad took. Wonder if those can be transferred to jpg files? Â Just about any camera shop will convert slides. However it's really expensive. Especially when you consider how many slides most people have. Â Getting a scanner with a slide attachment, and doing it yourself is probably a better option. My parents have an HP scanner with a slide attachment. Basically just a card that holds 4 slides, with a little light that goes on top. I scanned a whole pile of my mother's slides last year for Christmas. Took quite awhile to do them, but that's also because I scanned hundreds of them.
Pelydr Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Awesome pics man. Thanks for sharing! I really miss the skyway. Even at my age i'm still pissed that they took it out.
hollers25 Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Very cool pictures! I really never get tired of seeing "old" stuff, and you had some pictures with different perspectives than I'm used to. Thanks!
Melonballer Posted January 19, 2008 Author Posted January 19, 2008 Thanks again for all the compliments. I let my mom know how much you all have enjoyed the pictures. I went through the album again and found a few more. Unfortunately, there were none of the burning cabin or Inner Space. The EP Ripley Dancers at the polynesian show at the Disneyland Hotel. Gardens at the Disneyland Hotel The Autopia Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse The Hub area from the Peoplemover
ebl Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Somewhere, I have pictures of Disneyland during its "State Fair" promotion from the mid-'80s. Imagine seeing a Ferris wheel set up in the Hub and one in front of the Main Street train station! Â Eric
StarSpeeder3000 Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 wow what great pictures! It's really sad to see how colourful tomorrowland used to look, and how it looks now. Blech
DenDen Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 I just love all this nostalgia that's coming out of these forums as of late! These threads are amazing! I'm going to have to try and find my old stuff now. Â Thanks for sharing!

I believe it was in August. I'll have to check next time I am at my parents' house
printersdevil78 Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Great stuff! I'm headed to Disney World (not Land) the day after tomorrow, and this really gets me in the mood! I miss the Skyway....
COASTER FREAK 11 Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 These pictures are great. Its so interesting to see how the park has evolved over the years.
America Sings Freak Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Wow! this really makes me feel like the Disneyland of today is being cheated by the Disneyland of Yesterday. One question. Any pics of America Sings?
Melonballer Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 Wow! this really makes me feel like the Disneyland of today is being cheated by the Disneyland of Yesterday. One question. Any pics of America Sings? Â Unfortunately, no. The few pictures that I have not posted are generally of the family or very very similar to ones that I have posted. Sorry, I miss America Sings too.
crazyrider06 Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 This was before I was born so its always good to see how far things have come along. Good pictures I really enjoyed looking at them.

the sound Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Great pics man, the hotel looks really nice and clean. And it even has a Koi pond. That's pretty cool.
Melonballer Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 Thanks again everyone. I plan on scanning and posting some other old theme park photos in the future. I even found some pics from a park that no longer exists. Well at least not in the way it did then, or should I say where it did.
