Since I don't get out to theme parks very often I don't get to contribute as much as I would like. However, I thought that

you might enjoy some pictures my mother took on my first trip to Disneyland in 1979.

Edit: I added a few more pics on page 4.

sumarine.jpg.22f69b9c89bf63cd9e36f0ecac7c7408.jpg

The old Gray Subs, they ain't what they used to be.

SKYWAY.jpg.10836fe6b50c4974ec1a9d20ed2d35af.jpg

You can see the Peoplemover and the old queue for the Submarine Voyage, before Nemo moved in.

Streetcar.jpg.9f455d54ed6f12022e96aafb70997c1a.jpg

It doesn't look too different from today does it? I know let's go on a ride on the Skyway. You can't do that anymore. :(

Bongo.jpg.cb222faa6b6dcc40a3b1b76abcf681db.jpg

Now for some pictures from the daytime parade of the day.

When was the last time you saw Bongo and Lulubelle in the park

motorboat.jpg.3a79e8edc68d8cb0628fdf29bf9b4a7a.jpg

The Motorboat Cruise. Yes that is me piloting the boat and getting between my Dad and the camera.

skullrock.jpg.e8326d39f86510978ecea52310176e5e.jpg

Skull Rock and the masts of the pirate ship.

You know, now that I think about it, we were probably going from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland. Heck I am not even sure if the

pictures were taken on the same day. I was only 3 years old at the time.

More Skyway.

Alice in Wonderland. Skull Rock and Captain Hook's ship in the background.

Skywaymatterhorn.jpg.3ca267c6e2bd3c61201dcd07a2da3779.jpg

Now through the Matterhorn.

Nighttimefantasy.jpg.02ddb39c5629df30c1be1e758acc098a.jpg

Fantasyland. If you look close you can see the old Fantasyland facades and even the top of a ticket booth.

Castle.jpg.0b14d5ecd15222011d30a164e2647eb7.jpg

Then there is Disneyland at Night.

My sister and I with Chip. I figured I should post this for the rodent fans.

Of course in 1979 you could find the Main Street Electrical Parade.

One thing my mom has always done is take pictures of hotels. So I proudly present the Disneyland Hotel in 1979. They messed up our reservation, so they bumped us up to a suite. I still remember the room. It was so cool. In case you are wondering, we were in Bonita Tower.

The view of Disneyland and the parking lot from the window.

If you think a "It's a Small World" float is weird, here are some Roller Skating Disco Mouseketeers.

Here's a float you may not have seen for a long time.

Those are some great pictures. That is just how I remember Disneyland as a kid. I really miss the Skull Rock and also the Fantasy Fountains from the Hotel. We used to always go over to the Hotel after a full day at Disneyland and watch the Fountain show before we loaded up the station wagon and headed back home to San Diego.

Those pictures are great quality!!! Thanks for sharing

Those are some great pics. I liked how you showed mostly stuff that is gone. No more boats or buckets. I loved the pirate ship and skull rock because we always used to have lunch there. They had a hot tuna sandwich. Awesome memories.

Those are some really cool shots! Thanks for sharing. Really enjoy the shot from above that shows Alice and Skull Rock. Its hard to come by pictures that show them all together and gives you a good idea on where they use to be.

My mom took some great pics. I doubt she knew the value of the pics of things like Skull Rock when she took them. She just liked what she saw. These are just about all the photos she took that trip, so its kind of strange how she took alot of pics of things that have gone to Yesterland.

Thanks again everyone. I added a picture of Chip to the main post for all the rodent fans.

I well remember my trip in September 1979. Big Thunder had just opened and I was looking forward to riding it. Back then, you needed an "E" Ticket to ride (no Passports yet!).

At the time, I had just turned 20. Thanks for sharing these pictures of the Disneyland I grew up with!

Then I wish she liked Adventure Thru Inner Space!

Well she did not really take interior pictures. She could have taken a picture of the front of the building (she didn't) , but I doubt she would have been interested. Unless it was really interesting to her or one of the family she would have saved the film for something like a parade or for a pic of the family.

<"Quote: When was the last time you saw Bongo and Lulubelle in the park?">

Who are they?

Bongo and Lulubelle were from the film Bongo, which was part of the film "Fun and Fancy Free" from 1947. In the pic they are the bears on the bicycles.
