KGA29 Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Is there a certain way to go about using my GA Maxx pass at KBF? I know when we used them at CP, we had to go to Guest Services and sign in. Going in 2 days!
cfc Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 I think passes from all the old Paramount parks require a visit to guest relations for a ticket at the other Cedar Fair parks (I had to do that at Dorney with the Maxx Pass I got through Kings Dominion).
fitzmorrism Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Yep. if most (if not all) CF parks, you have to visit Guest Relations; It's extremely quick; you usually have your pass checked and you sign a guest log. Using CF passes is godly at parks like CP, because you get to skip the usually huge entry line and jump straight in the park from the side.
yankees15 Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Yes go to guest relations fisrt. They will make you sign a guest log just as fitzmorrism stated, and then they give u a ticket to get in the park with. This is what they did when I visited Kings Dominion with my Dorney pass.
KGA29 Posted December 25, 2007 Author Posted December 25, 2007 Hi, quick update. I went earlier today. Great day! Got in a ton of rides for the short amount of time spent there. I will post a PTR when I get back sometime next week (so nobody post a KBF PTR before then )
robbalvey Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Here's an additional question on top of the original one.... Does anyone know how long a CF pass from another park is good for at Knott's? For example, we have 2007 Valleyfair passes, but Valleyfair's 2008 season doesn't begin until May. Can we use our 2007 pass at Knott's until the start of Valleyfair's 2008 season, or do the passes stop being accepted at Knott's on Dec 31st, 2007? Has anyone done this before? --Robb
Xtreme-me Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 I dont know about Knotts right now but I had a pass for several years at knotts and the way it worked was that the day you bought the pass was the day that it expired the next year. For example, one of my passes I bought May 22, 2003 and it expired May 22, 2004, it didn't expire at the end of the year. Your best bet is to call the park before you go because I dont know about the whole valleyfair thing involved but that was my experience. However, I think, unless your pass has an expiration date for December 31st on it they should honor it. Hope it helps!
Carnage Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 ^ Yes, but a Knotts pass is a bit different. It's an annual pass because the park is open year round. Where as it's a season only up here. On the back of my CW Maxx pass it says : "This Cedar Fair LP Maxx pass is a revocable license to the holder hereof for admission to Canadas Wonderland, and any other Cedar Fair LP park on any regular scheduled operating day of the season for which it was issued..." I'd interpret that as the pass is only valid for CW's operating season. So my pass would not be valid for Knotts at this point, as CW's season is long over. But that's just my guess. You'd have to call to find out. Course I'd expect you to get a different answer depending on who you ask. I'd guess this is one of those things that no one is going to be quite sure of, as it would come up so rarely.

Craig the Coaster Freak Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 I know my Maxx Pass (purchased at Cedar Point on opening day '07) is good until the end of March '08.
robbalvey Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 I dont know about Knotts right now but I had a pass for several years at knotts and the way it worked was that the day you bought the pass was the day that it expired the next year. However, I think, unless your pass has an expiration date for December 31st on it they should honor it. Hope it helps! Thanks, but I'm not asking about a Knott's pass I'm asking about a Cedar Fair pass purchased at another park that is not open year round being used at a park that IS open year round. This is where the confusion lies. I know that Knott's accepts other CF passes through at least the calendar year that the pass was purchased in, but since Knott's operates their passes on an "annual" system, not a seasonal one, I would ask the question "If my pass is good in December when Canda's Wonderland is not open, why wouldn't it also be good in January, when Canada's Wonderland is not open. If I bought my Canada's Wonderland pass in May of '07, would it not be good until May of '07 at Knott's?" It's all very confusing. And I would call and ask, but I actually don't trust the people who work at Knott's Guest relations to know what they are talking about. I once had to tell someone in their GR office what the 'backspace key' on their computer was for, so I don't expect them know the details of what happens if you guys a pass from another Cedar Fair park. In fact, I would bet money on the people working at Knott's GR not even knowing what the other CF parks are! I was hoping that someone had actually experienced this first hand in the past couple of years. I know I have seen someone use a Valleyfair pass at Knott's during the winter months of the year after their pass was purchased, but that was in 1999. So I'm wasn't sure if that rule is still the same today. --Robb
Carnage Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Well I think I used my 2004&2005 CP season passes at Knotts during Solace. (so the March after CPs season). I just can't remember for sure. I'm having trouble remembering that far back. But I don't think I paid park admission either of those years.
DerekRx Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 I believe I read somewhere that CF was changing the policy for 2008, making all Platinum passes chain wide good 1/1/08-12/31/08. Somewhere it states that if you purchase your 2008 pass at some park and they aren't opened, you can get it processed at Knotts instead, since they're all the same price now. At least a stop at Guest Relations won't be necessary anymore thanks to their new computer system being chain wide too.
The Patchman Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 I may purchase a chain pass next year, but I do not know. I bought a Maxx Pass last year, and only used it at Carowinds. I guess that or a Hard Rock Park pass, I MAY ACTUALLY HAVE TO GET A JOB!
Bush985 Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Robb, The pass from Valleyfair is only good at KBF thru 12/31. All CF passes except the KBF annual pass are valid 1/1 - 12/31. (As far as I know the KBF AP is now a Platinum anyway?) I know the Cedar Fair pass system very well... ' Hope that helps.
Sticky Nicky Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Valleyfair passes should work at KBF until March 31st 2008. KBF is the only park open during November-end of March, so I am assuming that is why the expiration date is the 31st.
robbalvey Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Two totally conflicting reports back to back! *sigh* While Bush, I want to believe you, since a couple of people mentioned it in this thread, I do now remember many people using their "expired" 2006 CF pass at 2007's Solace. Has this now changed with the new system or did they just happen to sneak by? Honestly...I don't really need to go to Knott's anyway. This thread of confusion has reminded me why I don't go to that park anymore. I'll wait until the new coaster opens and then there will be TWO credits for me. Then maybe I can justify finding a cheap ticket somewhere.... --Robb
Jew Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 ^^^My CP Maxx pass clearly says it expires at the end of March. It's funny how even SF can get this right and Cedar Fair can't. Then again, at a park that gets 3,000,000+ people per year (KBF), they are only 2 cameras for AP's and the staff that covers them doubles as the GR staff. Last Friday the guy at the GR window even thought my Maxx pass was a CP employee I.D. So I'm not the least bit suprised their pass system is a mess...
Bush985 Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 ^ Is your pass from KBF or another park? Like I said, KBF runs a little different than the other CF parks due to it being year round. Robb said his is from Valleyfair, and I know Great America's passes are not valid past 12/31, I would assume similar to the other parks.?
Jew Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 ^It's from Cedar Point. The expiration date of 3/31/08 is printed on the pass. Go figure.
winningfreak Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Hey Robb, I work at Knott's so I can get you a 10% disscount if you want. Although most of the year there are disscount tickets at like Ralph's or Taco Bell or somthing like that. Also the fact that you dont go to knott's because of the confusion around it is a lame reason. Its the fact that the park is open year around messes with the rules...
Jew Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 ^Why is it a lame reason? Cedar Fair markets Maxx passes to those people who want to visit multiple parks in the chain, yet doesn't seem to have their act together when it comes to actually visiting those other parks! For Robb it would mean a 2 hour drive to possibly be turned away at the gate because CF can't do something as simple as printing an expiration date on their pass. Even Six Flags can get it right! I got into SFMM all season long with my SFA pass with no hassles, while I had to waste 10 minutes or more each visit to KBF waiting for my ticket with a CP pass...
winningfreak Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 If its that big of a deal just call ahead of time... and for once Six Flags had the heads up over somthing lol
jerryd Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 In the past years you would take your non KBF pass to Guest Relations, they copy it, have you sign a log and then give you a comp ticket. I have done it several times over the years, including 2007. Not sure about the Max Pass, but I suspect its similar. VF passes are valid to March 31 of the following year and marked as such so if you question it, call KBF GR and ask. Jerry
robbalvey Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Robb, The pass from Valleyfair is only good at KBF thru 12/31. All CF passes except the KBF annual pass are valid 1/1 - 12/31. (As far as I know the KBF AP is now a Platinum anyway?) I know the Cedar Fair pass system very well... ' Well, turns out you don't know it that well....after what Jerry posted I went back and looked, and yup, I'm an idiot... I looked again on the pass It does say right on the pass "expires 3/31/08" so our pass should work to get us into Knott's in January. I'm not even sure how I missed that. I guess I just read "2007 Season Pass" on the front, turned it over and read the entire back, and totally missed the little expiration date above the bar code. My bad! I'm an idiot! But at least I'm not as big of an idiot as that Knott's employee who didn't know what the backspace key on her computer was for! --Robb
