DBru Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 The Screamin' Squirrel by S&S is an interesting coaster. You go up, you go straight, you fall upside-down, you hang there, you turn right-side up, then you do it again, and again, and again. I personally enjoy hang time, so I kind of like it. Yes, it would probably get boring after a while, but it was a nice concept I guess. What do you think?
BRTeller Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I agree that it is a nice concept and I do like hang time. I wouldn't go out of the way to ride one of these things, but maybe I will once they decide to add on to the ride. They should at least have the normal wild mouse concept and then this concept added maybe. It just seems way to short and kind of boring, in my opinion. From what I have read and heard other people agree with me on this idea and opinion. -Brandon
mightypotato Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 It doesn't look like my cup of tea, but I'd probably give it a shot just to say that I've been on it. The whole hanging upside down part looks painful.
Meteornotes Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 One of the worst rides I've ever been on. Hopefully they won't build any more. Painful, boring, and just not a good idea. dt
Dailey Enterprizes Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Yeah the coaster cars look really uncomfortable. If they want this "design" to be successful they should replace the cars with X like cars that rotate freely. Then again those X cars + that track design, it'd be cheaper to install a Top Spin, haha...
robinschroder Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 ^ You've pretty much described an Intamin Ball Coaster e.g. this one Robin
matteocrepaldi Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I live pretty close to Gardaland which got one of those in 2005. I think it was cool the first time because I didn't know what to expect but now I don't really like it anymore. I rode it only once I think this year. It just that I already know what it feels like and I don't feel anymore that "out of control" feeling I felt the first time.
Purplepills Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I haven't been on one, but looking at it it just doesn't look interesting to me. I'd go on it if I were at a park it was in, but I'd never specifically visit a park just to ride it.
Teonanacatl Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 They could build such a ride on the Stratosphere Tower, that would be really scary.
RCfanatic Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I actually liked it, ok its not a real intense ride but the feeling of hanging upside down is quite unique. I rode it two times when i was at Gardaland, and never really had an uncomftorable/painful ride, the hang time would maybe get annoying after a few more rides, but i enjoyed my two rides allot.
Purplepills Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 They could build such a ride on the Stratosphere Tower, that would be really scary. See now thats a good idea, if it was actually out over the edge, or sort of 50% over the edge. The view as you roll over the ends would be awesome.
Bucket Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 It might be a good coaster if it was heavily themed. I think the concept is good and it looks like a fun ride but perhaps the execution was the problem...?
viking86 Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I think its a ride that makes you laugh the first couple of times it goes over the edge, but then after that its just 'meh'.... I didnt find it painfull, it just wasnt anything special. The Intamin Ball coasters are faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar better!!!
Scaparri Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 It's a ride that I thought looked awesome and insane when they first introduced the concept, but after I saw R&E's video of it from Gardaland, I was fairly unimpressed. It just looks too controlled and slow paced for me. I just can't imagine being upside down for that long at a time feeling very comfortable either.
airforcekid Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Too bad they ruined the concept of a coaster themed to a squirrel
Team Thriller Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Looking at pictures of the ride, it looks very painfull. The only thing I'm wondering is if the coaster concept will ever become something more than just what it is. Like acually smooth and nonpainful. But it's S&S, so I doubt it will happen.
