See I try to be accomodating to people and this is what I get!

People tell me to do stuff during the off season, people tell me they can't committ to a trip 12 months in advance, so here we go, we tried this!

I'm thinking at this point it won't happen, or if it does it will just be a smaller group.

There does seem to be a lot of interest though so maybe we'll look into doing one in 09.

Way to start off negative guys!

Maybe from here on out we should only post if you can GO!!!!

And come on, you already have at least one day off of school that week! Skip and let's go!

Actually, the rate you quoted for this trip is not bad and actually a few dollars cheaper than what I found for the same cruise dates.

Have fun! It looks like a fun ship to explore!

Does that help explain things a little bit?

Yes, I see exactly what your getting at. I was thinking in terms of ticket price only.

I also want to apoligize since I didn't realize this was your already planned vacation, I was thinking it was a spur of the moment thingy.

Hope your not mad.

Have fun guys, I just got off a cruise so know how much fun you'll have. I'm in Orlando this week for some re-rides, and a few new counts. And a first ride on Sheikra. Bon Voyage!

I know I would be interested except my vacation days are already taken up for next year.

One week with the East Coast Trip and another with a Disney Cruise.

I'll keep it in mind for 09.

Ive been on this boat. Friggin awesome. Highly reccommend. If anyones wondering and they have the money - its money well spent. You can get regular rates around 800 for the full week and thats the food included. Just doesnt get much better.

Great Choice

I went on its sister ship in Sept. there are exact

it was awesome

here are some tips.

Fly into Ft.Lauderdale NOT Miami

Ft. Lauderdale round trip southwest $110

Miami round trip $290

this was from Philly in Sept.

Ft.Lauderdale is only 25 minutes away all highway and less crowed.

get Royal Caribbean ground transportation.

Take a Bathing suit in your carry on so you can hit the flowrider before your luggage gets to your room. I went and only 2 kids on it when we boarded.

Later about 20 people waiting for it.

Checkout all the Stage shows all pretty good for a ship.

And go see the ICE skating show they have past Olympians skating.

Then my wife and I the next mourning went skating during open skate time pretty cool.

Keep room in your Luggage for some low priced Alcohol.

I brought back 9 bottles of Rum and Liquor some as low as $6 a bottle makes great gifts. If I didn't have to Fly i would have bought more.

You can't drink it until Friday.

Turn off your cell phone while on the ship or you will incur international rates and roaming. But in Puerto Rico (a US territory) calls are same price as mainland (at least for ATT) check your plan . I used My 8925 TILT phone tethered to my laptop while in PR. they do have a Internet cafe at about 50 cents a minute.

I also loved the 20 foot hot tubes hanging over the edge of the ship

This is the largest Cruise ship in the world

remember they also have free food not only at the buffet but also along the mall area 24 hours a Pizza shop and Coffee shop (pastries sandwiches).

I would love to go again but I will be in Vermont skiing.

Have fun and get off the ship when in port.

Awesome idea! I hope this takes off and is a regular occurrence.

^ Yeah, $850 is a little better. Thats about the right price, but still, $990 is just higher than what i would want to pay, especially for such a large ship with soooo many passengers. I haven't looked, but I wonder if they offer a free shuttle from the airport. Most lines do in fact offer that.

Or some hotels will shuttle you from the airport, to the hotel (day before, for example) and to the pier the next day. We've done that.

I have never seen a line offer free airport transfers - they generally are $30-40 per person or possibly discounted if you book your airfare through the line (generally not recommended if you are decent at booking your own). Many hotels in South Florida do offer a "Stay one night and get free parking for the length of your cruise" which is a good way to save some cash.

sweet! That was one thing I thought was weird about the Explorer, the same shops closed for a few hours at night. I'm (or I at least was) fat and a nocturnal person, so closing it down at 2am was lame!

My Wife and I in Puerto Rico on its sister ship Liberty of the Seas

these 2 ships are Identical. It was about 92 degrees at night and very humid

THis is the largest ship in the world Checkout the hot tub sticking out over the water. Yes the Hot Tubs are open 24 hours also. they clean one at a time.

Here is the awesome hot tub I hit this up like 1 - 2am \/

Here in Labadee you can see the massive size of the ship \/ it was 98 degree this day in Sept. , I just floated around all day

OK one more - here you can see how larger the Royal Caribbean is compared the Disney. Disney is Doubling its fleet by 2010 \/

Updated Tuesday 12/4!

I've received a lot of feedback on and off the boards. While I agree that the Freedom to the Caribbean would be the better choice, if more people are interested there is a cheaper option out of Los Angeles. It's a smaller Royal Caribbean ship, the Vision of the Seas. Robb and I have done this exact cruise before and it's a lot of fun. Here is some basic information...are there people interested in this one?

I think another cruise will be in order when the Mariner Of The Seas replaces the Vision in early 2009. It's going to be so great to have a Voyager class in L.A.!

I think the Carnival Pride wouldn't be a bad choice, either.

I have just added a poll to the thread for those of you interested, please take the poll and let us know so we can get a TPR Cruise off the ground either this Feb or some point in the near future!

I voted for the big ship out of Miami, but I'm fine doing the Vision out of LA too!

There are some nice excursions in Mexico!

I'd be interested in the L.A. Cruise but not in February, I'd be more interested in tying in a cruise on the way to or way back from the East Coast trip as I have to go via LAX to get to the US or get home.

I've always wanted to go to Cabo San Lucas.

If you guys go on the Vision of the Seas you will NOT be disappointed. I cruised on that ship in Alaska during summer 2005. As my second (and last cruse I've been on) it was simply amazing!

I still can't go on the trip because of school issues, but by all means, have an awesome time.

Here are some of my pictures to excite you about Vision of the Seas.

Better than my first cruise (Splendor of the Seas)

Posted

My vote is for the Miami cruise. I guess I was spoiled going on one of the "Voyager class" ships (the 2nd biggest class of ships) for my first cruise, but I really can't imagine anything smaller. There was so much to do, I never even felt like I was on a ship.

I know like a million people have said this but I have school. I really wish I could go but also even if I had no school I could not go because I am going on the voyager this summer to Alaska. By the way I have been on the voyager before and if the freedom is anything near as good as the voyager or serenade of the seas this could be the vacation of a lifetime.

CJ I really want to go on a TPR trip Morton
