Two hours of movie filled with 45 minutes' worth of plot. Checked out Big Hero 6 a few weeks ago while I was in Orlando, great film. Went to invite some friends to see it with me here in Melbourne before realising it won't come out locally until after Christmas! And film studios wonder why piracy is so rampant... rcdude Posted December 1, 2014 Share Posted December 1, 2014 Went and saw The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1 today. It was pretty good, though not as good as Catching Fire. The film is very different from the previous installments as it is more of a political thriller than an action movie and it did drag a bit, but I still found it engaging. As I haven't read the book, I can't say whether the part 1/part 2 split is justified or not, but I have yet to find a single example where it's fully justified (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows came really close, but upon rewatching I definitely saw some extraneous material). 8/10 I also went to see Big Hero 6 a couple weeks ago. It was good, but not great. Perhaps it's because I see all the superhero movies, but while the characters were great the story just felt like a bunch of recycled plot elements from the other Marvel films. It's a good family movie and it's still quite entertaining, but if I'm in the mood for a Disney movie I'd be more likely to pick Frozen. 7/10 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Perhaps it's because I see all the superhero movies This is interesting, because I've heard this from other people who are into all the Marvel, etc, movies. I, on the other hand, haven't seen a "Super Hero" movie since the original Spider-Man with Toby McGuire many many years ago. So I totally appreciated that Big Hero 6 was "super hero light." It was like the perfect mix of Disney & Marvel. Curious to know if people who are into the Super-Hero films feel the same way, and the reason why this movie is resonating so well with people is that some of the super hero films might be a bit too mature for younger kids so this is a great introduction? GCI Wooden Posted December 5, 2014 Share Posted December 5, 2014 I really enjoyed Big Hero 6, it exceeded my expectations, I wasn't expecting the culprit (I'm not going to give anything away) and it was just a funny movie (I love Baymax with low battery ) I'm not really into marvel or superheroes, but that movie was amazing. rosscoe Posted December 5, 2014 Share Posted December 5, 2014 Exodus : Gods and Kings Opened across Australia yesterday, based upon the biblical story ( Fairy tale ) of Moses, it was a rather dull, drawn out piece of nothing. Sigourney Weaver is wasted in the film with maybe less than five minutes of screen time, Jebus turns out to be a ten year old boy who is fascinated with a man double his age, if you have seen the trailer, you have seen nearly all the best set pieces in the film. 3 out of ten. Now of course the above is only my opinion on the story, the bible and the like, so if you are offended that I think the bible is a Fairy Tale, this is not the place to have religious debate Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

This makes me very happy, and I'm already humming along "Into the woods, It's time to go, I hate to leave, I have to, though." I caught "Interstellar" over Thanksgiving weekend and liked it a lot. It's nice to see a science-fiction movie that's more like "2001" and less like "Transformers" or "Terminator" for a change. Woodie Warrior Posted December 7, 2014 Share Posted December 7, 2014 Big Hero 6 was pretty good. Had great pacing with no real dull moment and the villain's way of getting around was super cool. And Baymax was awesome, of course. The animation was possibly the best I've seen. Disney stepped outside of their box and really hit a home run, I think I still like Frozen a bit better, but the two are just so different it's hard to compare the two. Feast was great as well. Just as good as Paperman, which I loved. Also, I could definitely see a sequel to Big Hero 6. I'm guessing they're already discussing it over at the studios. Would be a better choice than Frozen 2. I haven't read the books but I enjoyed watching it. the film was MUCH better than the book. remember, the book is from her point of view. .she spends an AWFUL lot of the 3rd book getting knocked out and waking up from comas/concussions! The movie held my attention the entire time, and it's probably my favorite in the series. A lot of people were bored by the politics/revolution themed plot, rather than the survival/war theme of the first two films, but I liked it. Jake Gyllenhaal was so unlikeable in this, in fact nearly ever person in the film had no moral compass what so ever. The story is based on people who videotape car accidents and sell them to TV news stations for profits and ratings. Gyllenhaal played a man who would stop at nothing to get what he wanted, he was vile. By the time it ended I needed a shower to wash the fifth away.
