PCW_Nut Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Honestly CW is the only theme park in Ontario and most people have no choice to go to CW and they want to visit a theme park. Are you forgetting about Marineland?
Capitalize Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 The reason why CW is so neglected is because it faces no competition from surrounding attractions. Honestly CW is the only theme park in Ontario and most people have no choice to go to CW and they want to visit a theme park. I think the idea of CW for CF is that no matter how much neglect they put into this park, people will still crowd. Nothing says "neglected" quite like that 230' B&M added all the way back in 2008... Looks like a cool ride; even if it is "tame", being that high off the ground I know will freak me out more than just a bit.
PCW_Nut Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 So Wonderland/Cedar Point/Kings Island & Knotts Berry Farm are all getting the identical ride in 2011..looks like there is no favoritism this year like discussed. Still want to know what all this Stratasoar business was about though...perhaps to throw us off the trail or maybe something else for the future? Who know's...only time will tell.
bgwfreak777 Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I can tell you one thing, Cedar Fair sure knows how to use Facebook now. They've been dropping clues about Carowinds 2011 expansion all the time and we're pretty sure it's just going to be Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular. But they are hyping it up like it's a major addition.
dandaman Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Honestly CW is the only theme park in Ontario and most people have no choice to go to CW and they want to visit a theme park. Are you forgetting about Marineland? And here I thought everyone loooooooooved Marineland.
chemical_echo Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 My biggest complaint about the ride is it's placement in the park...the thing is going to completely dwarf Wonder Mountain. The two current tallest rides at the park are located off to either side of the mountain and Vortex doesn't crest the top. To me, the ride will be a blemish on the view when you enter the park.
Tmcdllr Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Absolutelt amazing! How can these two people be in 4 different parks at the same time? Knott's Canada's Wonderland King's Island Cedar Point ...LOL!
thirstydeer Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Honestly CW is the only theme park in Ontario and most people have no choice to go to CW and they want to visit a theme park. Are you forgetting about Marineland? Marineland isn't exactly the same type of park as Wonderland... one rollercoaster and only a handful of flat rides. On the plus side the lineups are really short and you can easily make the rounds in less then a day.
vietchim Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 does anyone know the website to get that souvenir photo they take when you enter the park? it doesn't say on the sheet
PCW_Nut Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 ^ It's kind of bittersweet for me as, even though the ride is not that forgiving on guys, I still enjoyed it. Honestly, i started hearing all the rumors of it leaving and once it was confirmed, kind of sad. Honestly shocked to see that go before Skyrider! So, that brings up a good topic we can talk about. If a survey went around asking what ride/attraction/area would you like removed what would you say? As noted above, my vote would be all for Skyrider. I could see a ZacSpin in there or perhaps a Mega-Lite or Maverick style ride. There's enough room to start there and perhaps go over to where White Water Canyon is a bit.
coaster_dude2002 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I'm not shocked to see Jet Scream go. It was one of those ride you would once a season and wonder why you thought it would be a good idea. ^Skyrider isn't that bad. The line still build nicely in the summer and I'd ride it any day over Jet Scream.
chemical_echo Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I'd prefer they got rid of Minebuster and replaced it with a better out and back woodie, one that doesn't require advil after riding. I actually don't mind SkyRider. If you don't close your restraints to the point of breaking your ribs, and lift your feet a little off the ground during the drop and hill into the helix, you get some nice airtime. My only problem with the ride is the long loading/unloading procedure.
Ace Of Spades Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I keep hearing that Minebuster and Wild Beast have really gotten rough with age, which surprises me, as I went on them back in 2008 and didn't find them to be all that bad (then again, I'm the gent that finds Ghostrider smooth, so who knows ). It's a shame that they've become supposedly unrideable though.
coaster_dude2002 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 ^ I was there two weeks ago and had alright rides on both. They are certainly rougher than usual, but not the point of being in pain while riding (at least not for me). I think the mega-lite or ZacSpin mentioned earlier would be a great fit in the park. The foot print for the ZacSpin is so small it could go anywhere in the park.
beatle11 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Bye bye Jet Scream Hmm, that's funny... You can clearly see it in the picture. Unless CW decided they needed the space for the queue or expansion of the path. I'd prefer they got rid of Minebuster and replaced it with a better out and back woodie, one that doesn't require advil after riding. I keep hearing that Minebuster and Wild Beast have really gotten rough with age, which surprises me, as I went on them back in 2008 and didn't find them to be all that bad (then again, I'm the gent that finds Ghostrider smooth, so who knows ). It's a shame that they've become supposedly unrideable though. I have no problem with the Minebuster at all. I rode it bout 2 months ago 2nd car from the back. It feels like a wooden coaster but not what I would call painful. I haven't ridden the Wild Beast in a while but it makes more sense to remove that one in my opinion. Top Gun/Flight Deck and Tomb Raider/Time Warp are much more painful. Oh, and the Predator at Darien Lake is brutal.
chemical_echo Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Artists conception does not equal reality. I've heard from a couple different sources, including the link leading to the ride's For Sale listing, that the ride is in fact going bye-bye.
PCW_Nut Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 This was from their Official Twitter (@WonderlandNews) on Oct 8th: "Only two days left to ride Jet Scream! Jet Scream will be retired on 10/10/10. Don't miss out!" So it is indeed confirmed =(

Some will be disappointed, but in the end, a 301 foot Windseeker is a great addition to the park.
Cyber.Fiber Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Its gone. The ride had signs posted around it on the 16th stating that it was being removed for future development.
odene497 Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Awwww. I'm going to the park for the first time Sunday and love those rides. Oh well.
PCW_Nut Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Don't get me wrong, I agree, the trade off is great...just always hate to see rides go. However, change is going to be for the best this time around. 2011 should be a great season.
mightypotato Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Definitely not going to miss Jet Scream. I haven't ridden it since maybe 1999...it's just not my thing. That said, it did make for some good pictures when it was upside down and whatnot.
rollin_n_coastin Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 My Wonderland includes Jet Scream! But unfortunately, every good thing must come to an end as evidenced by last night. This looping starship is one of the best around, given how open it is compared to others (ie: No cages, nets, extra padding, seat belts or extra restraints). It's such a polarizing flat ride, like so many. I still remember riding it opening year. I'll definitely miss it. Apparently, this will be the future site of Wind Seeker. The sign says so Quick, let's get one last ride! Hmm...Wind what??? Ah, the Star Flyer-type ride! It'll be our fourth Mondial flat added to the Top Scan, Revolution and Splash Over. Station and queue cover are gone and the wings are clipped. Cockpit....gone too. Bye Jet Scream! Probably will be fully removed within a week or two at most at this pace
