seb&rox Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 So, for the spain/germany trip, the online bitching/nagging/temper throwing from the non participating forum members related to delays in the mini updates... Now it's apparently all about the face time received in mini updates by some and not others and perceived as unfair by third parties who also turn out to be non participants of the trip... We didn't take part in any of these two polemical campaigns and as "glass half full" people we enjoy seeing how this forum can be the place of such passionate and opinionated discussions but we'd also hate being excluded from the real debate that will need to be solved someday... As newcomers to forum participation but long-time perusers of the main site (back in summer 2004 if memory serves) we have to ask the question and that question will need to be answered: WHERE HAVE DAN & JOEY GONE ? It's been months and months since we last read about acceptable amounts of wetness and jewish innuendo and this situation is simply heartwrenching... Oh, and all the hundreds of you have fun with the rest of your midwest trip, we'll keep on the lookout for new miniupdates, not bitching about anything, like the nice clean cut kids that we remain at heart... You'd ruffle our hair if you could, we swear (hmm, the integrated forum spellcheck says heartwrenching is not a valid word but again we never claimed our use of english as a foreign language was valid)
BarryH Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 ^You'll see a lot of Dan and Joey on the Japan trip.
larrygator Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Okay, since I'm getting it from all ends here let me make one, last, attempt at trying to clear myself here. I'll just sit around and read the TR's silently from now on. I was never in any way, shape or form trying to tell anyone to do anything differently. I was not spiteful or angry. It was a statement. A misstated statement, but a statement nonetheless.  I was saying what everyone already knows, which is that Robb's group is the group that gets in the initial TR. It's not a deal. My boyfriend's got a camera, and he's got a laptop. He spends what time talking on the phone with me that he can. I don't tell him "stop hanging out with people to talk to me". I say "Call me when you have a chance". I'm not trying to ruin his trip.  You all, surely, understand that when someone you care about is away and you have the opportunity to see pictures from their expeditions that you will want to see pictures of them. All I was saying was that he's my boyfriend and that I would like to see pictures of him. And that because he's my boyfriend, of course I'm going to feel that way. Just like any boyfriend/girlfriend/wife/husband/mother/father/godparent/guardian or anything like that would feel about their respected relation. My point was that anyone on here who knows/loves/whatever someone that's on the trip is looking for pictures of that person. Period. I wasn't complaining. I wasn't bitching.  It's impossible to have a semi-inclusive, quick Trip Report (posted at 2 in the morning by a guy who's put hours and hours into putting a trip together and is just as exhausted at the end of the day as the people on the trip) that includes pictures of 100 different people. That'd be sifting through hundreds of pictures every day and would be very much an unfair thing to expect, which is what everyone is saying and what I have always been in agreement with.  What really sucks about all this is that my boyfriend is getting crap for what I posted when it wasn't even what I meant, so take it out on me, not him.  Okay, I've said my peace. I'm done on this subject. If you want to gripe at me or whatever, do what you have to do, but I wanted to clarify.  /Rant  Robbie "I just need to keep my big mouth shut sometimes" Simmons  So I'm confused. Do you know someone on the trip? Is it true that your boyfriend on the trip?
thefitness Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Lost Coaster looks crazy, a wooden coaster with an elevator lift?! Â Â Looks like you guys are getting on some awesome coaster!
seb&rox Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Whoo hoo hoo lots of Dan and Joey... On the next Japan trip... Sounds like global cultural clashes coming up... Oh, Dan and Joey are so cooool like rock stars and sexy like pro-wrestlers and clever like dam-building rodents... Hmm, we'll ponder on that last one then come back... probably... or not.
ParkTrips Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 LOL! Dan and Joey will/should appear later in this trip report too...
Real Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 When is a good time to join the group on Friday at CP? I would love to come up and meet the bunch.
CoasterFanatic Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 ^ As was mentioned many times before in this thread. Â DO NOT POST OR ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT THE ITINERARY! Â This is not a meet up thread. It is an on-going trip report. Â // Thank you
hyperlink27 Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Looks like the group is having a wonderful time. Robb and company keep up the great updates, it makes my workday a little better. Â Cannot wait until the Texas Trip next summer! Woo Hoo!
BarryH Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 LOL! Dan and Joey will/should appear later in this trip report too... Â I think R&E need to make many Joey and Dan masks. The trip participants can run around the park, wearing the masks and running around the parks!
IggyACE Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Â Crashed?? I was invited by Cameron! Was nice to meet you two. Â Craig (daughter Caitlyn) Â P.S. I didn't scare that guy on the swings to bad did I
missingmusician Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 So I'm confused. Do you know someone on the trip? Is it true that your boyfriend on the trip? Yes, he is.
robbalvey Posted August 8, 2007 Author Posted August 8, 2007 2. At IB, I didn't think cameras were allowed on coasters, because I had seen a sign at all the coasters saying there weren't. Or was it allowed because you had special permission. Yes we had special permission. Â I have decided to lock this thread for a while so some of the complaining will settle down. Â I will post more mini-updates later and I may re-open the thread then. Â These mini-updates are not something I have to do but something I enjoy doing. After reading through the responses I think taking a break from them is needed. --Robb
Real Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Such a good thing because Ive wanted a nice mounted POV of Lost Coaster. Even trying to hold a camera on there would be ludicrous. So much fun. Â Try to enjoy yourselves today at CP. Wicked storms moving through Toledo right now and this early morning heading for ya.
WillMontu Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 We're at CP right now. In brief  We stayed at SFGAm until 4 and got stuck in traffic for a few hours. We got to CP around 2am, and the county had no power, meaning that we couldn't get into the hotel until around 3 We experienced the Running of the Bulls Maverick tested for a bit, but they didn't open the line It rained, and then it stopped, and rained again, and stopped... I just saved a bunch on my car insurance by riding Viper
mcjaco Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I just saved a bunch on my car insurance by riding Viper  LOL! Gotta love Six Flags marketing!

Â
FeelTheFORCE Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts and reviews on Maverick! I went earlier this year and am going again next week solely for Maverick, and I live 3 hours away! That's how good it is, in my opinion!
thecoasterkid Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I have been trying to do updates along the trip myself, and it's a hell of alot of hard work. I can't believe that Robb is able to do it on top of running the trip and spending time with his family. Any whiners out there need to take one of these trips and see what it's really like. So until that happens...shut it. Â Robb told me to post in here when I've updated my thread...so here I go. Check this link to see my ongoing trip report from the Mid-West trip and all the antics of the "Hooters Crew". Â Updates for days 5 and 6...Wisconsin Dells!
mcjaco Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Everyone can check out my IB video from Sunday, as well.  Midwest Trip @ Indiana Beach  Otherwise, you all need to calm down. We're talking 16+ hours of being up and about in the hot, very humid Midwest. It's physically draining, especially for people from southern California.
Jim Disney Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Just got off the phone with Dan and apparently things aren't going too well at the park. So they're all there... standing in the sun... and they just announced that they're stopping the rides due to "oncoming weather"... now, call me crazy, but wouldn't you keep the ride open for a while to try and keep people happy? Â I gotta say, from what I'm being told, the operations there leave quite a lot to be desired. I thought Cedar Point was like the pinnacle of good operations too?
ParkTrips Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Sounds like a Knott's story! Actually, I experienced something like that when I was there in 04.
larrygator Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Well if there is impending lightning in the area, versus just impending rain, most parks will take extra precautions. Lightning travels pretty fast, like at the speed of light you know, so many parks won't take chances. They want to clear the queue (full of metal switchbacks) as lightning will be attracted to large metal structures (like coasters). Â Electrocuted patrons don't equate to good service
Jim Disney Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 ^Well... lightning is one thing, any reasonable person understands that. But there is none... Â It's *VERY* Knott's... so much so that I'd even venture to say that Knott's wouldn't even do this now-a-days. I mean, I understand if there's lightning, etc close to the park (hell, even Disney has a policy like that)... but he's tellin' me that they're basically all standing out there in the sun, no rain... and basically nothing's running. It's a shame really.
larrygator Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I'll check around the web and see if lightning is in the area  Here is a current forecast:  Showers and thunderstorms. Some thunderstorms may be severe with large hail and damaging winds and humid with highs in the upper 80s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 80 percent
