ETapley0687 Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 ^ NEAT!!! So we might be getting close to a test run now!!! lol
Tanks4me05 Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 I'm starting to like the theme of Nickelodeon Universe. People said it would not have a good atmosphere, but IMO it looks nice. I'm surprised they actually are paying homage to Rugrats! (The Reptar themed Bumper Car.) That show is what, 16 years old?
kraken613 Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Hmm... I wonder whats up with Avatar? Its awsome SB got a train though! 1 step closer to TESTING!
Sticky Nicky Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 I still want to know how Spongebob's transfer is going to work. I can't figure out where the two tracks will meet.
coasterdude5 Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 It looks like SB's trains might have been repainted. They look more red than originally.
sfmmrules! Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 The top of the hill looks like its too close to the celing! How will a car get past that?
Sticky Nicky Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 The trains will have enough clearance over the lift due to the glass panels being about 7 feet higher than the top of the lift. Yes, the trains have been repainted by Nickelodeon's request. That's why they disappeared for a while.
kraken613 Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 It is really close bet its really point of view. Look at some of the TR's and you will see its in a gap of the rafters.
Sticky Nicky Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Here are some photos to show the ceiling and clearance form our friend Looty.
Looty Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 ^Yes it did. If you look closely at the Spongebob webcam, you'll notice that they put two cars on the track as well.
Sticky Nicky Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Update from Looty Just a few interesting things: Themeing is underway on Avatar. The entrance pagoda is in place and queue railing is waiting to be installed. There are a few of these large chinese-looking fan things laying on the ground that will be attached to the underside of the towers on Avatar as well. Some Backyardigans decals have been applied to the Tree Swing. Mostly characters around the top and some stars/shapes around the base of the ride. Two of the Spongebob cars have returned and are now on the transfer track! the word is that Gerstlauer wants to start testing ASAP. More electrical work was taking place today and it appears that a new support column was added too. Purple queue railings have been installed for the Rugrats kiddie bumper cars and it appears as if they are really starting to work on this now...i can't imagine that this should take long. The cars are waiting downstairs along with sections of the floor for it. The Camp Bus has been painted orange and should be Diego themed shortly. Work continues on the new guest relations along with the new Nickelodeon retailer on the north side of the park. That's about it for now. Oh one more thing: the new computer system has been installed and so now we have automated ticket kiosks which means no staffed ticket booths right now. You can still purchase tickets and wristbands in the stores inside of the park but it's a little crazy right now with the new system and new people selling tickets that have never done so before. For anyone planning a visit soon (DHollon) I just want to warn you that it can be a bit of a hassle right now and the ticketing system itself is kinda tacky until Nickelodeon opens. With that said, I'm glad that they are implementing this now instead of waiting until Nick U opens with a 60,000 projected ridership on that first Saturday.
Golfie Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 The swing ride looks much better with the graphics painted onto it. Don't get me wrong - I TOTALLY prefer the old kites and things, but at least Nick made it look pretty good.
kraken613 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Hmm... I wonder whats up with that support? Why was it added? Actually it looks like it was maybe for clearance reasons. That support does look close to the track. wonder if this is part of the theming? Black Stuff
PURE Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 ^It looks like they needed horizontal clearance between that support and the pullout track right after the loop.
kraken613 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 ^LOL I just edited my post to say that as you posted it!
Sticky Nicky Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Avatar's cars are back on the train. Plus, take a look at one of the "fans" on Avatar's right spike support.
LiquidForce Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 are they going to paint the rest of that tumbler ride or is it going to stay that wierd mix of colors?
Looty Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Some of the concrete around Spongebob is being painted black. I believe that they will eventually fill these areas with water and possibly add some sort of water effect. Also, there are water dummies sitting in the Spongebob cars waiting to be tested so that should happen very soon.
coasterdude5 Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 ^ Yeah I'm hoping they do something theme-wise for SB. It deserves the best.
Golfie Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I like how all of this is developing. As we all can see, the park won't be left bare!
rousea Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Wonder when testing will start for SpongeBob?
Tanks4me05 Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 ^ Probably in a week or so... a few posts above you just said that the water dummies just arrived. (I always wanted to sharpie a face on one of those - maybe a random park will allow some of us TPRers to do that on a random trip during the nearing completion of a new ride. They did let you guys put nails and sharpie up Balder, you know. -Tanks "rousea, aren't you on wnycoasters?" 4me05.

The pics we saw eirlier they were sitting next to them.
