Legoland Kansas City

Recommended Posts

Legoland is looking to the Kansas City, Kansas area for a new park. The park will be part of a new resort area, and it will be built using STAR bonds. This will be the countrys second LL park, and hopefully it is unique instead of a clone of the one in CA. This should bring a lot of families into the area, and it should become a major force in the region.

Even if it was basically a "clone" of the CA park, would that be such a bad thing? How many people within the demographic that park would pull have probably been to the CA version of it?

Keep in mind that most of the Legoland's are very similar. So don't expect a park vastly different from the CA one or you'll probably be dissapointed.

Isn't the Legoland chain under new management? I thought the original owners sold it to another vendor. I think this area would/could be a good location for a park of this type (even a Sesame Place park as well). I couldn't open the link that was provided, so I'm not quite sure on the size of the park, but it sounds like it's close to being official.

I wonder if they can have it open around the holiday-seasons as well? I bet the area gets alot of snow, but perhaps they can do something similar to DW or other parks that do 'holiday' openings.

...Let alone heard of it. Most people in Ohio haven't heard about it at all and are surprised when I talk about a "Lego theme park". I'd imagine most people outside of SoCal (and maybe parts of Arizona and Las Vegas) haven't either.

I don't think a topic has been created on this yet so...

According to the Kansas City Star, Red Development is signing a contract or something for a Legoland, 600 square foot resort, an aquarium, and a boardwalk with some stores or something. If it happens, it will be built in Lee's Summit, Missouri.

This is going to be amazing, as Kansas City will change dramatically. I heard about this last spring, but it wasn't passed because that one was to be built in Olathe, Kansas, and Kansas couldn't get it to work. This one actually has a good chance of happening though!

There is a very high chance it will pass the vote, and it should be ready for 2009, apparently.

I'm really excited, as I live in Kansas City.

Well I hope it does happen. My grandparents live near Lees Summit, along with a good girl friend of mine. Also, its only about a 1 1/2 hour dive from where I live. Lets just hope they have some cool rides...

Actually it is happening. My friend lives in Lee's Summit and we went to the open house for it before I left. I've seen the site they wanna build it on, and I've seen the plans.

All they gotta do is vote on it, but it will most likely pass.

Besides having to vote on it and lining up financing it is a sure thing.

I'll believe it when they break ground.

A similar plan has already failed in the Kansas City area and Lee's Summit is plan B.

Even though it looks like a done deal a lot of stars still need to align prior to any dirt getting pushed around.
