Erik Johnson Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 I finally had the opportunity to visit Disney's awesome water park, Blizzard Beach. The last time I had been to a Disney water park was probably around 20-25 years ago, and that was River Country. So feel free to check out some photos from today's adventures. As well as of Expedition Warehouse. You do get a really unique view of MGM. I think I read that this is the 4th tallest mountain in Florida. I know that Everest is taller. Almost to the top. Summit Plummet, the world's tallest, fastest water slide. Those slides, from a different angle. They have several smaller slides for younger kids. The ride takes about 6 or 7 minutes, plus you get a nice view of the park. "This sure beats walking up those stairs!" There was about a 45 second wait, so we ended up using this thing several times. Time to ride the ski lift up to the top. Yes they do have a single-rider line. They have a special photo-pass for the waterparks. Florida snowmen do not melt. Leanne with some theming. Here is a map of the park. All the slides are located around Mt. Gushmore. Gators are cool! Not many people in the park today. Yeah, this place has a ton of theming. Not even BB has been spared from the recent promotion. Here are the current gate prices. Like check out Blizzard Beach. Looks fun, but we have more important things to do. They were just here, look at the tracks. We must have just missed seeing Comet and Vixen. Anyone ever heard of Ice Castles? Poor Santa. Yes, there is a winter theme as well. More, beach themed courses. Sand Castle There are two unique courses. This one is themed, "Summer". Its Santa Claus. You get your balls from this trailer. Yeah, this place has a lot of theming. We had a little time to kill, so we explored the mini-golf place next door. Gators make cool mascots. You can see Summit Plummet from just about anywhere in the park. My first visit to Blizzard Beach. The new entrance off of 429, I now can get to WDW about 20 minutes faster than before.
disneyfan1313 Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 It was fun hanging out with you guys there! Good thing you didn't get any pictures of my white legs
crazyrider06 Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 I love minature Golf, looks like a pretty cool course. Nice pictures
bulldogmom Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Great pics- thanks! Looks like a nice park. It's about 5 degrees here, so it's kind of hard to imagine going to a water park. Re: entrance price- Yikes!
Jeezus Juice Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Ahh-hem...we need speedo pics immediately! Come on Erik! Show us them yams!
Erik Johnson Posted February 11, 2007 Author Posted February 11, 2007 It was fun hanging out with you guys there! Good thing you didn't get any pictures of my white legs LOL, mine are not any better. Also you can see that I lied in that I was not going to go back to the top of the mountain to take pictures. We had another hour to kill, and the park became super dead, so I used that time to take some. Thanks again for the visit! Onto more Pictures: I did not like this one as much as the other. It kind of hurt your back as well as drown you. Here is the loading area for the other speed slide, Slush Gusher. Here is a shot of the complete slide. Weeeeeeeeeeee........ I found it to be a lot of fun. Its 120 feet tall. Summit Plummet is probably the most well known slide here. I will never go to Atlanta in the wintertime. Back to the top of the mountain is the ski lift exit. This is the real exit of the ride. You still have another 2 to 3 minutes of ride after the slide. This is where the rafts end up. The loading area. This is how they get the rafts to the top of the mountain. Yes, the family raft ride was a lot of fun. It is called Teamboat Springs.
Erik Johnson Posted February 11, 2007 Author Posted February 11, 2007 More Pictures. We found the wave pool to be rather lackluster. I think the longest we waited today for a slide was about 2 or 3 minutes. Random waterfall theming. Oh no, its a box of dynamite. After you return your raft here, you repeat this process another 15 times. Then you experience MASSIVE airtime on the 2nd drop. Then you walk up to here. You pick up your raft here. This one ended up being our favorite. Yes, more random theming. On these back side of the mounatin they have these raft slides as well. The enclosed one was really fun. You use the toboggans on these slides as well. This is the machine that brought the toboggans back to the top of the mountain. Another view of the Toboggan Racers. The Toboggan Racers were a lot of fun. As well as more theming. You do get a really nice view from the observation deck.
Erik Johnson Posted February 11, 2007 Author Posted February 11, 2007 Guess what? More pictures! Well it is time to go get some dinner. Go Gators! Can you find the hidden Mickey? It is Leanne's 60 second rose. Leanne decided to help out. Near closing time a CM decided to draw on the sidewalk. Free refills if you buy one of those big $10 cups. I swear that this rodent stopped eating to pose for a picture. Yeah the rafts outnumbered people about 10 to 1. There is all kinds of detail in the cave. Though you enter a neat cave area at this point. This water was beyond freezing. Yes, cloaking devices do work in the water. Again, there is all types of cool theming in this park. Yes they have a pretty awesome lazy river. These have these cool ice lilypads for the kids to walk on.
Erik Johnson Posted February 11, 2007 Author Posted February 11, 2007 We decided that this year we would explore several of the resort areas. So today we went over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We also ate dinner at Jiko's, which is now our favorite place to eat at WDW. Yeah its not cheap, but the food, service, and atmosphere was top notch. After dinner we sat around the outside fire at the back of the lodge. Thanks for reading. The coolest cigarette box ever. The wicker beast of death. The chicken was quite tasty. Looks good, and it was. Mmmmmmm....Jiko's Ok, I guess its time to go back to the lodge. How many hotels have giraffes walking around in the backyard? On the backside of the lodge, you have all types of wild animals walking around. The lodge lobby area was simply stunning. These lighting fixtures were really neat. It is also quite big. Looks pretty nice so far. You get this pass if you are not staying at the lodge. The Animal Kingdom Lodge.
disneyfan1313 Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 we SO could have walked across those things. Just because our necks would have been going through the rope since we are too tall should not have stopped us!
Erik Johnson Posted February 11, 2007 Author Posted February 11, 2007 Ahh-hem...we need speedo pics immediately! Come on Erik! Show us them yams! Heh....I took all of these photos before and after all the swimming. Sorry, but my camera is not waterproof...
Jeezus Juice Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Alright Erik, get some weekdays off. I'm coming out next month for some Blizzard Beach! I totally rule at Ice lilys btw. I honed my skills at Dorney, and I'm now the MASTR! Would she really not let you guys on or do you two still have too much self respect to play on kiddie floats? Don "No self respect...AT ALL!" Garrison

disneygurlz2s Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Sammi and I both enjoyed the TR....we so wanted to do one of the waterparks when we were there in August. It's definitely on the list of must dos for the next trip. Shari
matteocrepaldi Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Nice photos. That waterpark looks awesome.
mcjaco Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Glad to see you finally made it out to one of the water parks Erik! Personally, I like Typhoon Lagoon better. But that just me. We went to BB on a really sunny day and the "snow" made it unbarable to keep your eyes open. The wife and went over to the AK Lodge too. She was in awe by that lobby. It's really impressive!
Wes Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 BLIZZARD BEACH! I really have always wanted to go there, but we haven't had time on either trip. Oh, and the giraffes at AK Lodge...
Jayjay719 Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Great Pics! I really enjoyed looking at them. I need to get out to BB soon! But I love the giraffes!

arrowfanman Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Great PTR as always, Erik! I cant say that I knew more than the theme of the park until now...great to finally see a look from the inside! I'm definitely going to have to take the "extended tour" of WDW the next time I go. -Jahan
SLUSHIE Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Screw Florida. It's been around 50 and raining the past few days here. I find it amazing that you live in Florida and you visit the resorts so often, but haven't seen it all yet. That mini golf course is much better than the Fantasia one.
BarryH Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Great photos! I'm glad we did not see any photos of Erik shirtless.
