Erik Johnson
I have to admit that we had no plans of attending the brand new Disney upcharge Magic Kingdom event, "Disney's Pirate and Princess Party," until we heard how awesome it is from another TPR member. It is very similiar to the other upcharge events, such as "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party" and the Christmas one, in that they both take place for about 5 hours after the Magic Kingdom closes. This one happens to be themed to Pirates and Princesses, hence the title. For $40 you get to experience all the major Magic Kingdom attractions with little or no wait (Just think of it as a $40 super fast-pass), get to witness a special parade and fireworks show, as well as a bunch of free goodies. You can also dress up in costume as your favorite pirate or princess. In similiar fashion as the MNSSHP (Halloween Event), there are candy or bead stations (think Mardis Gras style beads) located all over the park. Both Leanne and I have witnessed many different Dinsey firework programs over the years, but we both agree in that Magic, Music, and Mayhem firework show is the very best we have seen. The section when the pirates bombard the castle with fire is a sight to be seen. The parade was also top notch, though Boo-To-You is still our favorite. I believe that Tinkerbell has finally made her WDW debut in this parade. I can not remember ever seeing the Tink character, other than the flying version for Wishes/Etc. Anyways we will be going back again next year, so enough information, here are the photos: Also if you are interested in a video of the event and are a TPR member, click this link: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=32834 Can you find the hidden Mickey? Hooray for Raisins! Special themed lighting along the people mover track. It has been a long time since I have ridden these. This was the first time I have ever seen a side closed. Disney attractions are a walk-on during these events. Yes, this is Space Mountain. At others, you find beads. At some stations you find candy. Oh, yes please! X marks the spot. When you find these you get free stuff. You also get a special map as well. Everyone gets one of these pouches to put their "booty" in. Awesome, we already started to get free stuff. This only took about 5 minutes to get through. Any other park would have taken 30. Pirate theming at the entrance. Princess theming at the entrance. These are the dates of the event, in case you are interested in going. Good, because we did not have tickets yet. Pirates outnumbered Princesses 5:1. Yes, they even theme the toll booths for these events. Ummmm.... Yes, you are going to Disney World! So I got her a nice "themed" card. Yes, it was Leanne's Birthday. Erik Johnson
OK here is another installment. And here is the wristband. And here is the map. The attraction listing. These are the three main events of the P&P Party. Yeah, I bought the event pin. I wonder if we still had a little more space left in a pouch? Thank you for such a great event! Awww.....Its time to leave. Derek would hang his head in shame. We really had our hands full of "booty" by the end of the night. 5 minute wait, sure why not? Splash is supposed to be reopening on Sunday. There were also a lot of random sidewalk projections all over the park. There are a lot of random opportunities for character group photographs. He was really into character as he greeted everyone around the gift shop after the ride. "It's Captain Jack Sparrow , thank you very much." Hey, that guy looks familiar. Looks kind of Spooky! Yeah, we had to do the Pirates ride, right?? Wow, they actually really talk now. Storytime with Belle. What is that thing? There was this strange, "Dancing with the fish" program over in Fantasyland. Seeing Tinkerbell was a big surprise. The first half was themed to "Princess". The start of the parade. More beads? Yes please. Mist was coming from the paddlewheel. There is this special pirate themed boat ride, but we did not ride. Yeah, I know who the ruler is of our family. OMG! They blew up the castle!! Looks like the Castle caught on fire! The fireworks show seems harmless enough. I am happy that the castle is now back to its original self...but that did not last long. Mess with us and you end up in the cage. They did have several "special event" items for sale. We never found out who was inside, but it was at least a 20-30 minute wait. One of the "treasure trails" went through Mickey's backyard. What did you just make Leanne?
SharkTums
I see that Chip and Dale were in one of the Dance Parties. Were they anywhere else that you saw them? Any meet and greets? Parade? Shows?
DerekRx
Awww, I was really bummed I'm missing out on the event, as any special event at the Magic Kingdom is awesome. And then I saw my Dole Whips were closed now I'm not so sad anymore. Thanks for the heads up, it'll be something for me to keep in mind for future year trips to WDW! Erik Johnson
I see that Chip and Dale were in one of the Dance Parties. Were they anywhere else that you saw them? Any meet and greets? Parade? Shows? Yes, they were on the final float in the parade. I really did not get a good look at them. Chip was certainly in his musketeer uniform. Dale almost looked like a pirate with a small crown on his head, so I am not really sure what he was dressed as.

Erik Johnson
Ok onto Animal Kingdom. Well, time to go home. DUUUUUUUUUUDDDDDDE! The train is almost as long as the 80 foot drop. Leanne is going to visit the lair of the Yeti. I can't believe the Everest has now been open for a year. Sure, why not? Though we did not get to see it due to technical difficulties. This was the reason for our visit, to see the new show. With a bunch of critter autographs. They gave her a birthday card. It made Leanne's day. It must be Leanne's birthday. Uh oh, something is brewing among the CMs. Pluto kept staring at our food plates. Goofy is the one on the left. Look who showed up. Ok, I am ready to eat. Here is the "more healthy" foods. Yes I would like to have some food with my grease. Food? Yes please!! Worst pirate ever. "Yes I am a Princess...and its my birthday." And our picture to mark this special moment. Our very first character Breakfast. Its Animal Kingdom.

DATman
The technical difficulties for Finding Nemo were probably due to the fact that it is sponsored by McDonalds. Great to see that the P&P event is a huge hit! It's always nice when Disney can do something that well. Glad you guys had a good time.

jackskellington101
Wow, they dug deep to find that birthday card! The Earful Tower being the logo for MGM?!? Mickey, Figment and Roger Rabbit?!? That is straight from the late 80's, early 90's. That's hysterical that Breakfastosaurus gave birthday cards from a time when Animal Kingdom wasn't even thought of. Was there any dust on the card? Erik Johnson
^^ Yeah I thought the same thing. Plus, Animal Kingdom is not represented on the card as well.
jedimaster1227
I see that Chip and Dale were in one of the Dance Parties. Were they anywhere else that you saw them? Any meet and greets? Parade? Shows? Chip and Dale were in the Eclipse's Mini Mix show on the stage below Sonny Eclipse's stage in Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. When I was there (on the same night), I only saw those faced characters and Mr. Smeed. There were some new characters that were pulled out just for the event, but none of them were recognizable. Its a suprise that Stephanie and I didn't run into you two on Friday because we rode basically everything that you did, we were near the Haunted Mansion for the parade and we were over at Pirates while Jack Sparrow was there. Oh, and tell Leanne Happy Birthday!

arrowfanman
Hey Erik! Great photos and I loved the video! These events look really fun! I joked last night about them, but really--Disney makes sure that you're treated well for the 5-hours! I already cant wait to get back out there ASAP! Thanks again! -Jahan P.S. BTW....The fireworks choreography that you showed in the video, in that pirates segment---yea, Disneyland was doing that years ago!
