apollo210
Robb, I'm trying to post in 100% English and I'm trying not to be annoying, so I'm sory if my posts are horrible and need to be changed. I hope that my posts lately are legible and are important to the site. Also, new members to the site should not use the fact that they are new or should not use the fact that they are new and/or the fact that they are younger members to spell incorrectly and post in unimportant topics. Robb, Elissa, and all of the Mods work hard every just to keep this Forum up and running everyday and people who f*** up the boards should not get in their way. Everybody should just try to help out the website by posting wisely and giving Robb, Elissa, and the Mods less work every day! Even though I'm not a mod, but please just read this post anyways and think about your posts before posting on the Forum. -Stephen
Corkscrewed
Basically, the forum disclaimer should say this: Don't Post Stoopid.
ebl
It is the diligence of moderators that helps to keep forums clean. That's why over at Westcoaster, our boards look as nice as they do. There also has to be a zero tolerance for crap, for instance: ThIs KiNd Of StUfF. dont do this either. Be shur to spel chekc whut u write and u shouldnt write like this. And so on. Believe it or not, I've actually received PMs from people thanking me for pushing them to use proper English grammar. There's nothing wrong with having a style, but make that style in the content of your post rather than the appearance of it. Listen to Robb and Elissa and take their advice, as well as the moderators'. You might just pick up some good writing habits that will take you places in the future. jamesdillaman
^ Just as long as I don't have to capitalize my name, because it's much more visually pleasing with all lower-case. -james dillaman
ebl
^ In all honesty, I disagree, but your name is yours to do whatever you want with it. Eric
Calvin
Side note on name: TEACHER: See how his name was all in lower case? Lewis Caroll did that for an artistic flourish. KID: No, he did that because he was a crack, heroine, and morphine addict. I believe strongly in good grammar and english skills in general. It helps you to look better and more professional and far more smarter.
robbalvey
I am bumping this one more time because just today I've deleted about 10 posts, all from members aged 14, 15, or 16. If you can't post legibly, just don't post. It's really that simple. Dear TPR Members, We've noticed a recent influx of 12 to 17 year olds signing up for the forums and while the majority of you are great, and we value everyone's input, we have noticed a greater amount of posts that fall into the following categories: - Pointless topics. - Posting for posting sake. - Posts with bad grammar such as no words capitalized, using internet or text message shorthand, poor spelling, etc. - Topic titles that are not descriptive. - Creating topics that already exist (not searching before posting) - Other general "annoyances" (using WAY too many emoticons, HUGE images, etc) In an effort to keep the quality level of the forums at a higher standard, we are going to have to start deleting topics and threads that fall into these categories. We want to keep the forum informative and fun, and if you have to weed through pages of "crap" that takes away from that focus. Please make sure that if you are responding to a thread, you have something significant to add to the conversation, and your response is intelligent. Again, it's not ALL the younger members as most of you guys are great, but lately this has become a problem and we feel this is the best way to deal with it! So the moral of the story....if you start to see your posts or topics get deleted....refer to this post, and look to some of our more experienced posters as an example. Thanks for your understanding! --Robb
PKI Jizzman
My contribution- -Be sure to check RollerCoasterDataBase (www.rcdb.com) before posting topics on "What is the tallest?" or "How tall/fast is so and so." That type of stuff can get annoying.

Gnome
Just got around to installing Google toolbar. I was reluctant at first because I've had some bad experiences with various other toolbars in the past but this one seems to work fine. Its also really good because its a simple click of a button and it takes out half of the spelling errors, though I still find I have to correct a lot of things when I go back and re-read some of my posts simply because there are somethings that the spell check can't do (IE grammar) but overall I think it does help. Wes
Guess my age. 16 THIS IS EXACTLY THE PROBLEM!! Do posts like this contribute to the discussion, or are they just worthless replies so you can get your post count up? I'm not going to single anyone out, but there has been a figurative ton of useless, one sentence replies today, and nearly all of them have been from people in this age range. We like people contributing to the forums, but when you see the same five or so users posting simple one sentence replies to 20+ topics in a single day, something has to be done. robbalvey
This leaves us no choice. In an effort to continue having a high stardard of posts on the forum, anyone creating pointless, useless posts will be given a 24 hour ban. At that point it will be up to the mods to decide if that ban will be lifted or not. I have warned OVER AND OVER again for our younger members to police themselves on this issue, and we're still getting crap posts all the time. Also, please DO NOT ASK if you are one of the offenders, if you have to ask, then you probably know the answer! --Robb
CK Media
Sigh... If only you'd use the PM system to ask users to delete their posts. Also I feel there are too many posts per page. On average I see 20 active posts per day (Sometimes just "one" reply). You guys advocate the search function a lot so shouldn't you expect people to search for a post if it has fallen off the front page?
Wes
^ I'm not quite sure I get what you are saying. - I had PM'd a few of the offending users today, but that did not seem to detract them from continuing posting useless stuff. - It's not a matter of just deleting the posts, it's a matter of kids knowing when they're being obnoxious with their posting habits. - I have no idea what you're getting at with the search function comment. CK Media
You can delete your own posts if the last post is yours. There's an [x] button by the edit, quote, and spam buttons. I'm saying there are too many dead posts on the front page.
arrowfanman
^ For one, Mods can delete any post they see necessary. They dont need to PM people asking them to do it. For two, I dont think you quite get it. The moderators are saying that they believe everyone here is capable of acting like an adult. So they're going to treat everyone like an adult. It's not they're job to play "parent" and drop PMs saying if a post is appropriate or not. That's your job! And if someone cant act like an adult, that's honestly their problem. Not the mods. A 24-hour ban is much smarter course of action. And I too still dont get what you're saying about the "searching/deadposts". -Jahan

I'm saying there are too many dead posts on the front page. Again, it's not about them deleting their posts, or me deleting their posts, it's about them being aware that their posting habits are annoying! I'm a mod, I can delete whatever I want, but that's not the point of the matter. The point is that there was a large rash of useless posting today, and it got very very obnoxious. As far as the "too many topics", this forum has been up for more than two years now, and you're the first person to complain.
CK Media
Okay well from experience I see mods "locking" posts instead of deleting. I know on messageboards mods can be given different abilities. So I'm suggesting that the mods who can't delete posts can ask the poster to delete it. And I see mods leaving comments leaving comments before they lock. I don't see what's so back breaking about a PM.

Ryan King
Also I've noticed mods don't respect other peoples opinions. They normally DONT respect opinions because they're not given respect back. Like what you're doing right now, finding a way to argue and be right. You're wrong. These guys (Mods) can do anything they please. They're trying to make the TPR forums as enjoyable as they possibly can! They're trying to remove spam, and take care of useless pointless posts! Respect that! SOOO many useless topics are posted each day! The reason why you search is to avoid flak, avoid taking up more space. The reason why they are locked, correct me if I'm wrong, is so it DOESNT happen again. People see, oh OK, this has been talked about. So really, the mods are here to maintain a clean Forum environment. If your rude to them, they're rude to you. -Ryan
